Stories From The Battlefield // #MarianaIslands. Hear from Dean Ladd, USMC, and Kenneth "Scooter" Barclay, US Army, about their combat experiences on the Mariana Islands.
A big part of what the Best Defense Foundation does is bring #WWII veterans back to where they fought and served. We have brought hundreds of veterans back over the years, and have no plans on stopping.
One of our favorite things that we get to do while on program, is taking veterans to specific locations where they personally saw #combat. It’s amazing to see the memories and stories that all of a sudden start pouring out of them. In this series, we will share with you all these great stories that we have captured, and will continue to capture, as long as we have veterans that are able to go back.
We took 7 veterans back to the #Pacific in March 2019 for the 74th Anniversary of the Battle of Iwo Jima. It was incredible to hear all the different stories that came back to them the moment they stepped foot on the islands. We visited #Saipan, #Tinian, #Guam, and Iwo Jima on this program and each veteran had a unique story about their experience on the different islands. Please enjoy as Dean and Scooter recall some of the moments that have stuck with them for 74 years, and tells stories that changed history.

I'm born in Saipan in the Marianas and I'm grateful for these soldiers who fought in the Marianas. I am still here living in Saipan and its awesome to visit historical places from WWII. And I study history. I will never forget those who died trying to fight for freedom and peace in this world. :)
