- "The Commandant's Own," U.S. Marine Drum & Bugle Corps, lead by Master Gunnery Sgt. Kevin Buckles, the unit's drum major, performs a slow march during a Friday Evening Parade at Marine Barracks Washington, D.C., May 31.
atcually they inherited the british and commonwealth style slow march
Yes but slower, the Brits slow march at 67 BPM and in Australia we slow march at 70 BPM. There paces are also different
@@maskedgaming2798 but we still practising the same style of marching, right??
@@Shimshashuii2743 I can't speak for the army but the RAAF dose all it's drill according to part 1 of the Air Force Drill and Ceremonial Manual (www.pdf-archive.com/2017/11/04/afdcman/). Being an Air Force Cadet (Australias equivalent of the Civil Air Patrol and AFJROTC) I might be a little bias but the RAAF does the best drill in the ADF. The US could learn a lot from us
The culture of the military was widely dominated by European military culture, especially British and French, at the time of the US Marine's formation. It isn't really a surprise that some aspects of American military tradition, such as this slow march, were inherited and or based around the commonwealth style of slow march.
@@Shimshashuii2743 yes, it’s a very distinctly British style of slow marching. Most militaries use some form of slow march step, but the really “baroque” style seen here is definitely derived from British foot drill.
Aye, mate! Scotland the Brave!
Excellent!
Scotland the Brave? Minstrel Boy? Newfound respect for the US millitary's bands
One of my favorites, but I've always been curious as to why "scotland the brave" is played.
Because America doesn't have culture of its own lol
@@nietzchepreacher9477americas culture is so prevalent in your everyday life u don't realise america does have culture and the brits also play our marches too goofy
@@yuritarted984 I know, it's just a little jab
@@nietzchepreacher9477 is that why u commented the same thing 3 times 😐
Oh yh I forgot to mention its because of Scottish immigrants and as allies we tend to use eachothers marches the brits love national emblem march and other american marches that they usually play...after Scotland the brave the usmc usually play minstrel boy and yorckscher march
same here Frank
hong kog mein black watch mein bhi kuch kuch bagaya tha
what tune is being played
Scotland the brave
And The Minstrel Boy. A Scottish and Irish tune respectively.
The opening flourish is from a bagpipe tune and I cannot for the life of me remember which.
What's the title of the song
Scotland the Brave
That British half step thing has always looked so silly to me, just take one whole step. But marines make it look good as usual.
UK march
And the UK's slow march for the Queens (now Kings) birthday review is based on an Italian guy's opera overture.
?=4
Playing the scottish anthem lol
Scotland the brave... bad marching. It's amazing how America has literally no culture or history other than British culture
How supremely well you are able to demonstrate your ignorance.
A nation that’s 246 years old, founded by immigrants mostly of Britain, a roughly 30,000 year old civilization, has no culture or history you say?
@@Saach you'd be surprised with the music
Don't you live in your moms basement and play video games for a living? Sorry the Haggish isn't up to your standards boy.
Ur goofy but keep meat riding america cuz its funny
