Watching all these weird Rivian promos makes me think they are blowing in the wind when it comes to their marketing department. You’ve got a good product…figure out how to make it as affordable as possible and and yet profitably and people will show you how they’ll use it!

This wouldn't have been so bad if they didn't have such beta coffee house music playing. Also, just because you sell clothing at a high price doesn't automatically make it "cool" or desirable - looking at you pilgrim, you try too hard. Rivian marketing, do better. This is lame and embarrassing.

I'm not sure what Pilgrim is, but it's a pretty pejorative term. The slaughtering of hundreds of thousands of indigenous peoples by pilgrims isn't something I would want my brand being associated with...
1. I don’t believe you’re using “pejorative” correctly here, maybe you mean “loaded”?
2. Pilgrim is a general term before and after *THE* Pilgrims of the 17th Century. While historically not an admirable group, there’s no reason why their company would be associated with them over the typical meaning of journeymen.
3. If you want to be angry about something from this, do better. Critique charging $80 for a graphic tee instead.

@@mitchsargent5543 Yes, but you’re describing the *term* as pejorative. While the history of 17th Century Pilgrims is negative, the term itself doesn’t have connotations.
An example of pejorative terms would be things like slurs or words that degrade a person. No one is going to call someone a pilgrim as an insult.

I’m definitely a Rivian fan… But if this video is about branded T-shirts or something… Which I can’t really tell if that’s really the case… There’s no way I would EVER pay money for any of those T-shirts. I’m sorry… The designs are just boring, uninspiring, in a no way could be viewed as being cool in anyway shape or form. Also… I’ve never heard of Pilgrim… it’s cool that they make surfboards… But these T-shirts, don’t even make me think about surfing. Sorry Rivian… You’ll have to do better. 🫤
It's a contrived neo-hipster ad agency inspired attempt to create some yuppy brand language tied to some timeless yet sort of trendy non-establishment artisinal surf and boating lifestyle. Rivian wants that vibe.

It’s kind of like messing with the saturation slider on a photograph, just a little bit of neo-hipster yuppy branding is OK, but you move that slider too much and it becomes obvious you’re messing with the original. Just delete this video,Rivian and tone down your saturation back to just a little bit (rein in your ad agency).
@@CPT_IDOL The unspoken first rule of branding content, don't force it. It has to feel natural and no set designed. A lot of Rivian's brand essence, feels canned and templated. Sometimes it hits. But a lot of times it's just a sexy patgonia/REI/eco friendly less hardcore redbull media vibe.
Here's a tell: Naming their little mascot GEAR GUARD GARY just doesn't hit the spot. Not sure if their ad agency or creative director went full send on that one or what.
