8:08 SUE THEM they can't deny you based on protected classes such as age, race, and religion. They literally admitted to breaking federal law.
Same for 14:00
the problem not mentioned here, is the average person does not just have money lying around for a lawsuit
sure theyre breaking the law and doing illegal things but they can shut down anyone who tries to sue them because they have that much money
the only way for something like this to be done is a class action lawsuit, and nobody in the general public benefits as much as they should from class actions lawsuits. all the money goes to the prosecution lawyers.

Depending on where that is, there might be some sort of labour board or other inspection agency that's in place to deal with things like this. Report the employer, show the evidence, sit back and relax while the company gets ground down by authorities.
White men don't count didn't you hear
@@romie-777 There is also the matter of corps talking. You "make a scene" in one place and suddenly a ton of places welcome you with FU.
I have a disability that makes me unable to do many forms of work as I require my service dog who alerts me to potentially dangerous changes in my condition, and I have been trying to get a job since I left high school nearly 7 years ago...7 years of constant rejection because employers do not want to accommodate my disability. And the worst part is: I have ALSO been rejected from receiving Social Security Disability income THREE TIMES! Why? I "have not paid into social security," which means I have never had a paycheck... because I've never job... because I'm disabled... I literally can't get the governmentally assigned money for people too disabled to work because I am too disabled to work...
I'm pretty sure I'm in actual hell
That is literal misery i am so sorry
This is why we need some form of socialism in this country.
I need [This], How do you get [This]? Working.
How do you work? [This]
The loop of nightmares. Goes for "experience" "benefits" "money", you name it. "I need Money. How do you get Money? Working. How do you work? Money (car/housing/clothing/beauty requirements)" As an example.
I forgot to state that I hope life stops kicking you in the metaphorical nuts, 'n that you get enough breaks from this bs life gives to make a CEO jealous (or KitKat). I know it's never a guarantee and I'm not gonna sugar-coat it with "It'll get better" - but *I hope* it gets better for you :< ... RNG can't beat someone down *that* bad right? I like this new game of trying to figure out what subreddit the video is about just by reading the title and watching the video
I prefer knowing the subreddit before watching the video
It’s in the video description
@@lirachonyr I just know it is gonna get old real fast but atleast Emkay are experimenting so maybe it'll go away
It's fun! 😊
I don’t- it’s very important to me that I know what I get myself into
All these types of "corpo professional" job interviewers, recruiters, "entrepreneur bosses" etc. are just guillotine-bait worms.
I've literally scraped more worthy lifeforms off the bottom of my shoe.
"I've scraped more worthy lifeforms off the bottom of my shoe." is going in my list of quotes
"No foreign accents." The most American trait -- hating people for being bilingual.
$10 on that it's a telemarketing job and they tried to imply that they don't wanna be mistaken for scammers, yet came across as lowkey racist instead. Swing and a miss.
They so deserve to be shut down not only for setting that expectation on their recruits, but also making it a _requirement_ to fill in on an online application survey. Better yet, people should just fill in what the recruiter wants to see, then arrive to the interview putting on the thickest foreign accent they possibly can, even if they are born American, just to waste their time.
Calling $18 an hour close to minimum wage made me freeze, i work currently for $13 an hour and my last job paid $10 an hour... Minimum wage is $7.25 in my state and both jobs have boasted about paying wonderfully (people cant support themselves on either and my current job partly relies on tips!)
Last I heard, a legit "minimum wage" in America with the current market and housing prices taken into consideration is upwards of $23/hour if not more. I don't envy you one bit, and wish you and everyone in your position could find luck somewhere outside your dumpster fire of a country, leaving the wealthy to boast about their impoverishing salaries and loyal indoctrinated lapdogs who fights each other over hoarding money and properties in their stead.
5:40 This convinces me, that I as a shy person, am often seen as "not confident" when I am just honest. I can't friggin sell myself and I am tired to do so. I have depression and PTSD, I just want a job. How can I be confident with 200+ rejections? Urgh!!!!
"You're just not trying hard enough" "You're just lazy" "It's because you're not applying (hard) enough"
* Proceeds to go through another 50 applications, only to get contacted < 3 times, to fail < 3 interviews *
But you *gotta feel motivated now* ... right? 😓
If it is any consolation, I'm a very extroverted person with a background that required me to develop my social skills very highly and that still wasn't enough for some asshole managers. They will find a way to say there's something wrong with your voice and body language. I've turned down jobs because of this, it communicates to me they can't be trusted when I have a real problem I need to report. In my experience, aggressively forced polite people treat conflict and problems as pathological. So when you bring something to them that needs to be worked on or fixed, they lash out at you.
Also I suggest you read the book Nonviolent Communication. And in general, practice reading out loud and writing. In the privacy of your own room, write about anything and practice giving it as a speech without focusing on every detail or how you do it. You'll get more comfortable with your own way of communicating and this will help with how people perceive you.
@@anewagora That last part is lovely information. If I read books, I'd be sure to do this! 😅
Start lying on your resume. They don't have a right to know anything about you and you aren't required to put yourself at risk being honest. Craft a resume specifically for each job. Delete any job gaps and say you're currently employed (even if you're not). Get friends/family to be your references and also get friends/family to pretend to be a reference, if needed. In most jobs, the actual job is different from what's stated in the job posting. Getting a job is not about being the best pick for the job. It's about making an idiot feel like you're the best pick for the job.
I love how half of these people could sue the company. Under federal US law and most national laws in general, employers can't make employment decisions based on age, gender, race, religion, etc. Unfortunately, no one does, and so these shmucks get away with it.
Mostly due to the time, legal fees (not just paying legal things like lawyers or courts, but the fees of living, eating, transportation, etc - whilst attempting to do this), and how 99% of the time they can just spin it off something. Unless you got hard evidence from a direct email or phone call (recorded/traced) by the CEO or something of "No, I won't hire you because you're [this race] and [this sex]" - you're basically screwed. They can turn it around and simply say "We denied [you] because [x] person got the job and the slots were filled but we didn't want to [hurt your feelings text here]. You were [something over/under-qualified], we looked into [some bullshit excuse], and you also signed [this or that] which lets us deny you over [some past incident that wouldn't even get you fired from working as the bodyguard for the damn president]."
But lawyers could make a damn killing if they just started advertising like "Did you get denied over racism, sexism, or [anything else illegal]? Contact us. We'll pay the legal fees, and sue for you" or something like that - they'd get some cash in this trash of an economy.
"Personal relationship with Jesus Christ"?
Dude, we've never met him in person. We don't even call or text!
i watch this as i scroll linkedin in hopes of finding a job... 8:18 i hope he sues for discrimination because they not only wasted his time but they gave him evidence for it. I'd be pissed if i went through the long process and stuck in limbo only for them to say "Sorry but we want a male for this position".
7:27 fun fact, it turns out these taskset things actually are built in such a way to scam free work out of applicants, and 99% of the time, they don't even hire applicants.
Society exists to make life better for EVERYONE. Not just to benefit the upper and what remains of the middle class. But the state of things has like brainwashed me into feeling ike I'm in the wrong to say that.
You aren't wrong though. The "state of things" you're being force-fed is just a narrative conveniently fabricated by upper classes to keep their employees "in check". They want to control the industry to make the people working under them feel like they're powerless and having no choice but to play along by their rules. It's easily forgotten that _we're_ the foundation that helps build their corporate empires, and without us they would crumble to dust. Divided we beg, united we bargain - that is how it's always been. Unions should exist in every corporation for that very reason, and any that denies it or retaliate through worsened working conditions should be promptly forced out of business.
Thats what it should exist for. In actuality it just benefits the upper class.
@3:20 "Be memorable". Sure, great advice. You remember the guy that took a dump on your desk and then set your car on fire right? Okay, right on, getting ready to be memorable!
Honestly, agreed. The "Just kidding, 1-4 years" isn't too bad either That's a fairly wide range. They just don't want it to be your first. 1 year is in the range. So literally "just any real-world experience at all; a few years" Which, fine, fair enough. Not your first job.
So where do you go for your first job?
@@draalttom844well these jobs typically require a degree or commensurate experience, so you either start in a lower position and work up to the other job, or you go to school. My job typically requires a masters degree, but I’m able to bypass that by having 15 years of experience.
@@Alicia-Rene they dont upgrade anyone tho, they just hire
@@draalttom844 I’m sure that’s the case in many places, but in the industry I work in (finance) that’s rarely the case. The gift card one is just weird and smells a bit of bribery. If a candidate sent me something like that I'd thank them but send it back.
@@It-is-me...Melsie would be memorable but not for the right reasons. I would probably make them as "do not hire" for any other interviewers in the company to see.
@@It-is-me...Melsie yep gift/card or any kind of gift can easily fall under bribery.
like just sending thank you card can fall under it in some extreme cases.
@@Zack_Wester Then we have "job advisors" like that guy who will exploit such "bribery" as a means to encourage blatant bootlicking. Because nothing appeals more to a dirty hiring professional than people who are ready to go down on them even if only to keep their jobs. It's been a disgusting marketing culture for longer than they like to admit, but now they're not afraid to show that ugly face of the corporate world to the public anymore because they're actually making people feel that desperate.

I applied for a job I was massively overqualified for that voluntarily opted into the UKs “disability confident scheme ” which means they guarantee an interview for disabled candidates that meet the bare minimum requirements. They said they had too many candidates so they wouldn’t stick to their word.
Later I had an interview for an even lower seasonal job as FOH and the interview was so strange. There was two contracts to choose from one union and one non-union, they made us do a group presentations on sales promotions they should hold at their bar during various events and then they had 5 interviews at a time in one foyer and I was to distracted by another candidate loudly freaking out to answer properly. I got interviewed by a bar manager because another candidate stole my slot. I in no was signed up to working a bar job (I’d do one just wasn’t warned)
Edit: I didn’t get offered the job but after all that I’d have been more stressed if I was because I’d have had to find a way tactfu to turn them down without burning any bridges.
12:30 Honestly, this is more like "Your last job shows you earning 50K. We can't possibly offer more than 44K."
Yeah that's the point of salary checks. They wanna see how to bleed you dry
26:15 Yeah, worked with 'family' in the last job. Ended with rheumatoid arthritis due to non-existing days off, stress, not eating, without vacation for 5 years. Resigned, since she didn't want to give me sick leave, and didn't get my last pay for month and a half. She closed the store 2 months later because 'nobody wants to work'.
19:55 - I was told my profile would be fabulous for reviewing hotels. My only jobs were teacher, nanny, & nursery worker. What.
That guy posted a lot of words to say "Can someone please shout me a coffee? I don't want to actually have to do my job properly, but I'd love to get free drinks."
I had to take an online test for a job interview, problem was, I had 39°C fever that day and I couldn't reschedule it.
Later I got a call that passed and invited me for a 1 day try-out, but I don't remember shit from the test and only that I took it...
Also, the "try-out" turned out to be an actual job interview for which I wasn't prepared at all of course, scarred me for life o-o
I've been job hunting for two years and only got hired now, and just... Remembering the things I had to put up with the contractors and stuff made me glad I finally made it.
For the one related to biosciences yes it has to do with diseases from other rodent species as it likely involves the care of vulnerable immune compromised research materials in the form of mice, rats, and other such rodent like animals.
What the fuck is going on in the US job market? What is it with all of these crazy tests and absurd salary ranges and other bullshit? Insanity.

I have been unemployed for a year now, actively searching for a job, and I'm about to f*cking give up soon. My personal work coach (a free of charge service for up to 3 visits, granted by the city) looked through my resume and an application letter. He was baffled why I haven't gotten a job yet, because he described them as "perfect and thorough". My guess is that my field of work is oversaturated 😑 I need to get SOME job very soon or our household will run out of money
I'm in a similar boat, I've applied for at least 500 jobs since losing my last job in late July, at this point I might just get chat GPT to write a unique resume for each job and if I'm unqualified for the ones that contact me I'll just be honest and say I got an A.I to write the perfect application because they're too picky and then hang up, it's not like I'm getting work anyway so I might as well make it fun
@@jimbothegymbro7086 In my honest opinion (and my personal moral code) it's always better to write your resume "with your own brain". I know the competition is tough and ChatGPT is getting scarily intelligent, but at least I know I wrote it all by myself. I might however have to resort to AI soon because I'm running out of personal savings to keep up with rent and utilities. 😬

28:58 Oh fuck that guy. I am not rehomimg my snake for a job. A snake is a 20 year commitment compared to the job that will fire me without hesitation.
This is why I'm glad I'm a low skill under educated worker as opposed to someone whom had to pay for college. I can show what i can do instead of being beaten up constantly about education and experience. Probably make in the lower middle income level. But hey it's better then being rejected for every application I went to school for.
The bioscience one sounds like a job I applied to that would have worked with lab rodents and I was told I wasn't eligible since I have a snake that eats rodents. It is because the spread of disease/viruses as the animals are kept in contained conditions and highly sensitive to anything spread to them.
It makes a bit more sense when there's context. If it was a random office job it would be real weird, but at least there's a reason if it's the same sort of scenario you described
Hm, people forget that companies haves multiple HRs, usually dozens if not more.
You have to send that coffe gift card to majority of them😂
I think the recruiter who is asking why the guy wasn't working while unemployed might be looking to quit and find a new job, and wants to know how its like out there right now...
Oh shit, emkay went dark theme finally
I remember everyone telling me how great linkedin is and how I'll easily get a job through linkedin. So I made an account, posted my resume, made it clear that I do not have a driver's license nor a car. The ONLY three hits I got which weren't from any of the places I applied to, were people who wanted someone with a car and driver's license to drive from store to store to set up displays. Not someone to be a passenger and help another worker do it, no they wanted me, who had it marked for all to see that I neither owned a car nor driver's license, to have a car and drive from place to place alone. Haven't touched linkedin since. Didn't need it for my current job either.
LinkedIn is one step above Parler in the "Only People with Bodies in their basement use this site" department.
At this rate everyone will just refuse to work, and I want to see how the whole of society will handle it.
The ENTIRE workforce just refusing to work. Like the government actually having to create incentives to make people go back to work.
The kind of refusal that would make CEO's retire early to make that whole thing someone else's problem.
first of all: heal yeah dark mode EmKay, this is what we've been waiting for!

because, if it's found that they make offers based on that info, it's theft.
These make me so glad I’m a mechanic and can be choosy as frick where I want to work.
Oh! I applied for a job that had a very similar requirement set as that last post about animals! If it is in any way similar to the one I applied for, perhaps it’s because the work is primarily conducted on genetically engineered rodents that could be affected by disease that you bring from home pets (either rodents/similar prey animals or predators that would eat things like frozen or live rodents at your home)?
Dark Mode Emkay is real

8:23 do they need a female analyst for the job for the comfort of customers? (like how some hospitals have female doctors they call to a room in case the patient is uncomfortable with a man giving their checkup)
cause if not, couldn’t you sue them? since they have admitted, in writing, that the only reason they aren’t hiring you is because of your gender
There are very few situations where this wouldn't be considered discrimination. Even the situation you described could be considered discrimination depending on exact circumstances. Support workers are an example where you would often want a specific gender, especially where personal hygiene is involved. But I can't see any reason a data analyst would need to be specifically female
Yeah, that last one is totally because they will be working with rodents and as such cannot be in contact with them outside of work to reduce the risk of infecting the animals at work. This includes dead ones thus snakes and birds of prey being on the list - though they may also be on the list because their smell might linger on the person and then stress out the animals at work. Pretty standard biosecurity question.
If you get the option, always opt out of having your resume read by AI
That last question about rodents and rodent-eating animals is likely in an application to a lab or somewhere where rodents are bred. It's a risk for spread of disease if employees have the same animal as those they work with. Likewise, you shouldn't have chickens at home if you work with live poultry, either meat chickens or egg layers.
I'd say its fine for companies to offer low wages if its actually inexperienced like fastfood or retail with no experience in that field. But if they got a degree, even just a couple years in the area then they are worth way more than those peanuts these people offer.
Same thing for not pushing for raises. If its your first job, haven't been there long, don't expect to be there long, or for some reason are content with your pay then its fine to not push. Otherwise get what you're worth or leave.
I think all wages should be liveable, but if you're qualified or experienced in the work you're doing, you deserve way more than minimum wage

That last bioscience one isn't unusual really. Even in college when I was doing some zoology courses I got asked what animals I had. It may not even be diseases persay being worked on, but a chance of spreading things to your pets or the animals in the study is a big concern. Not only that but things like scents of similar animals can effect study results. Gotta keep things as clean as possible! Judging by the posted requirements my bet is they will be working with some reptiles. The scent of prey can cause issues, as can the scent of rivals, and predators. Could also be rodent studies which also apply. Science can have some strict standards for study results and peer review.
