Hey mate I’ve been in NQ for 8 years now and I have found that on the full moon tides you will have to fish through the empty’s to get a feed and on a new moon you will get more full crabs. On the big tides low coming in.
The higher water temps increase the crabs metabolism and obviously brings them out of hibernation. So it takes them a lot longer to fill up I reckon. I don’t mind picking through the quantity to get some quality though.
I thought the measurements point was the widest part of the Carapace you appeared to be to far back for a correct measurement ? And I thought the correct float were to be a 150 mm round styene float only ?
Yeah that’s where we measure, it could’ve be en the camera angle or something maybe. As for the floats they just have to have a distance no shorter than 150mm in any direction. Doesn’t specify that they have to be a styrene float only.
They hadn’t had much rain in that system or even in the Haughton area either. The water temp was high though, up around that 35 degrees c. Once it cools down a bit towards Easter you should see more full crab about.
Nice Mate

Whats that app when you hit the sandbar joe, sick video as usual 🤙
Just the Garmin active captain app. It’s a subscription fee but it has very accurate charts for most areas.
Onya mate, like the laid back style
Haha i got lit up by wasps bass fishing the other day 😂
Thanks mate. 🤙 plenty of bloody wasps about lately, I got hit at work the other day myself 😂

Just the wrong time of the year
Yeah it’s always been that way aye. Definitely prefer them last couple months of autumn 🤌
Just a little too soon after the big fresh run mate eh? Plenty of mud spiders, just not enough time to fill up after being out the front.
