- Minister for Home Affairs and Law K Shanmugam had an exchange with MP Faisal Manap on the separation of religion and politics. After rounds of clarifications, MP Faisal Manap agreed that “religion should be kept separate from politics in Singapore, religion needs to be kept aside from politics so that religion won’t be used to gain personal benefit or the benefit of any political party”. MP Pritam Singh said that while certain faiths constitute value systems, as in MP Faisal’s case, politicians must be mindful that they “represent the interests of every community, not just (their) own”.
They spoke in Parliament on 7 October 2019, at the debate on the Second Reading of the Maintenance of Religious Harmony (Amendment) Bill.
We are all Singaporeans, and all working hard for the sake of common future. Let's love one another & try to understand each other despite our differences - race, language, religion, political beliefs, sexual orientations, etc.. Peace ♥🙏🙏🙏
I think there was hardly any debate here. Mr Manap avoided answering anything.
For christian, our religion involves every aspect of our lives as well.
When it comes to politics, we pray that God bless our nation with good leaders, we don't support a political leader just because he is a christian.
I don’t really like politics, but it’s hard not to like shanmugam. I remember watching his day in a life video few years back, pretty touching stuff tbh

Shan should have just asked him "Mr Manap you believe that Religious political parties should be allowed?"
Me Manap, you should have said, "I do not think Religion should be kept separated from Politics." "let me Clarify, the word politics don't necessary need to be critical, judgemental, And politics is the activities associated with the governance of a country or area, especially the debate between parties having power. So Religion as every faith is a way of life, we need to acknowledge the everyone and continuously improve harmony and continue to discussed amicably in a political setting as well."
Wow! Impressive Response!

Religion has nothing to do with politics
He actually avoided alot of the questions (Mr Manop). So ..barely a debate there. Though I'm not sure why religion is being brought into this.
So Mr faishal father in politic? Becos minister K Shanmugam address his as Mr Manaf. That his father name
Simple honest question that needs a simple honest answer.
A question of INTEGRITY as a leader..
Our Minister Of Home Affairs is asking him,I believe in simple P.S.L.E english..which part of the statement that he was being asked that he seemed quite not to understand..
I have no apologies..the goverment is the People's Action Party and the People's Action Party is the goverment.
