A simple scientific answer. Water based liquid molecules change from a free moving form, to a crystalline connected form when frozen. The large surface area of the chemical cold pack, works to quickly transition liquids to solids. The "slush" is just the liquid beginning to crystallize, or freeze.
Huh, this is actually kinda neat. Something that's advertised on TV, and actually works? That's nice to hear as well. Maybe I'll get one of these some day, I'd like to be able to make something like this when it gets around Summer time, I usually just put stuff in the freezer until it's solid, and drink it as it melts, usually water. This'd be a nice way to change it up.
I have one of these and its amazing XD. I can make slushies from actual fruit juice! Not like those ones you buy that just come in suspiciously vague 'red' or 'blue' and are probably made from nuclear waste and the tears of fairies...
Unless you grow and press the fruit that you grow in your own private orchard, I challenge you to find a "real" fruit juice that doesn't have artificial additives and preservatives and contains its weight in sugar.
"Less than a minute" plus the hours of freezing that it takes first. I bought one of these! They're good, as long as you remember to freeze them. Does it actually freeze the drink, or does it just mix in the ice from the side of the cup? I can't tell... never tried using it twice in a row.
As an American, I have no idea how Foster's is so I can't make any snidey comments. Is it the equivalent to the watered down swill that is Budweiser over here?
Since it's easier to find Fosters in America than in Australia, I'm shocked you've never heard of it... And it has been available in the US since '72...
I think I had a failed early experiment of this thing. It was a big cup with a screw on lid and these ice cube things that you had to freeze and put into the cup and shake it all up until it turned into slush. It worked and was really fun, but then the ice cube things started to get nasty algae or something floating around inside it, and eventually they wouldn't make any slush at all. Maybe they've improved since!
Its quite simple. The ice in the cup cools down the liquid to freezing point and the squashing melts it slightly with friction as so to not completely solidify it making a slussh of said flavour
I bought on (us version) either the UK one has different chemicals in it that make it freeze or my freezer is crap. I have to keep in in for a long time and I still don't get the same results as you do.
I miss frozen coke from New Zealand so badly and this little thing is perfect. I’m going to buy one and surprise my husband with it because it will make his year lol we’re simple people 😂✌🏼
Hey I KNEW this would work because this is what made me start smushing my icees at Target and I never owned one of these TV only! Smashing with spoon never worked ever and swirling like a glass of wine? No. But THEY saw something that everyone missed since the beginning of time.
lol i got one for this passed Christmas.. and it didn't work.. It wouldn't even really freeze.. I left it in the freezer for a couple days and it still wouldn't work.. the pack inside melts too quickly..plus it never froze all the way either..
I actually bought one of these after I saw your review and it would have been great... if the frozen stuff that is in the walls of the cup hadn't evaporated or leaked out... Turns out all the cups at my store were defective.
you sell the products better then the ones on the actual infomercials, there was one product though the sorbet maker for kids that one totally fell apart
Wow, an As Seen on TV product that actually works! What is the world coming to? Does that mean we're going to see stuff like console games that are as good as their PC counterparts?
APPLBL00M Suikoden 2. Oh that's right, that wasn't released on PC. Edit: Good God, youtube comments all of a sudden really hate when you try to paragraph your comments.
I hate to say this, Mike, but I admit that is much better than Mr Frosty. No wonder Hasbro - who pretty much owns most of the toys and board games makes, have nae common sense whatsoever on consumer product improvement. Nice video and good work on giving us the demonstration on other bevvies!
An ice pack in a flexible cup, works great until the plastic holding the chemicals in the ice pack fail and the liquid runs out into what ever drink you're trying to make.
I got one of these and I guess mine wasn't good. because it never made slushies right. it wouldn't freeze right. even leaving it in the freezer over night and longer! sigh...
Fosters is the only beer that tastes the same cold, cool or warm so that is a positive, the negative is it always tastes like you'd rather have anything else, EVEN Bud Light Lime and that is saying a whole lot right there :P
Unfortunately, I bought two of these for my little sisters and had then shipped to Nevada for them, and this product didn't work. Despite warnings from amazon, I bought em. Not too big of a deal, but still a disappointment to get a phone call saying my gift didn't work.
+Aaron Gosselin I'm guessing that the chemicals in the sleeve were screwed up by the heat in transit to Arizona. Mike J lives in The UK (I assume), so the transit had less of an opportunity to spend hours in 100+ degree weather
I got one of these and it totally works like with anything. Im underage but brother isnt and he's come home from college and i made him the beer slushy and he said it totally taste yum! I give it 5 stars!
Should of gotten this instead of the slushy magic ice cubes...shaking it vigorously for 5 minutes and barely any slush to it...sure it's a work out but friken hurts after a while and it barely works!
I'm sitting at home in the middle of the night, and I'm watching a guy massage a cup full of gravy on UA-cam...
I regret nothing
Same here.
Two years later, we're still doing it.
@@PIXscotland and 5 more years later.
it looks like a cool sports car
An excellent reference
Tired of putting your body through all that effort of turning beer into urine? Introducing Fosters! The beer that goes in exactly like it comes out!
oh god, you urinate carbonated beer!?
htomerif Someone's never tried Carlsberg.
thagrammarnazi
Oh, I'm not saying there's not beer worse than Fosters, just that Fosters hitting the "urine" nail right on the head.
A simple scientific answer.
Water based liquid molecules change from a free moving form, to a crystalline connected form when frozen. The large surface area of the chemical cold pack, works to quickly transition liquids to solids. The "slush" is just the liquid beginning to crystallize, or freeze.
lol :)
There's no need to be sarcastic. :/
Well, whatever makes you sleep better.
I'm glad you've found what works for you.
Ahh, good. She's finally found a job. I'll congratulate her a little later today.
Huh, this is actually kinda neat. Something that's advertised on TV, and actually works? That's nice to hear as well.

Your profile pic fits your comment really well.
Vicvic W
Yes. Yes it does.
Gromnok Windwaker dam your comment is fancy
I used to do that same exact thing
Throw a milky coffee in it for a quick creamy frappe.
Be an outstanding thing to have through summer.
I have one of these and its amazing XD. I can make slushies from actual fruit juice! Not like those ones you buy that just come in suspiciously vague 'red' or 'blue' and are probably made from nuclear waste and the tears of fairies...

jcrowley1985 lmgtfy.com/?q=farmers+markets+near+me
Mmmm, fairy tears.
I'm honestly shocked you didn't do tea.
That would have been my first try! Probably a nice Earl Grey...
Yeah but tea sucks
@@lavabite You suck!
Nice, but how is it as a cheese grater?
Makes a cheese slushie.
"Less than a minute" plus the hours of freezing that it takes first.
I bought one of these! They're good, as long as you remember to freeze them.
Does it actually freeze the drink, or does it just mix in the ice from the side of the cup? I can't tell... never tried using it twice in a row.
Maggie Taylor if it mixed in with the ice you'd have to refill it... what it's mixing in is water condensation from the air.
It lowers the temp of the drink to 0°c or 32°f so it starts to crystalize
If the gravy worked it would've been like some bastardized form of molecular gastronomy
As an American, I have no idea how Foster's is so I can't make any snidey comments. Is it the equivalent to the watered down swill that is Budweiser over here?
Yeah, it's basically Bud without the flavour.
TPQ1980 Negative flavor?
TPQ1980 But there is none to TAKE! How is that POSSIBLE!?
Since it's easier to find Fosters in America than in Australia, I'm shocked you've never heard of it... And it has been available in the US since '72...
Dan Houser I guess I'm just not a true alcoholic.
"Now Milk! " the delivery made it sound like it should be a catchphrase
Ew, you drink Foster's?
Nothing wrong with Fosters. :)
I just said it because he said that he didn't want to read such a comment x,D
Pisswater x,D
Pisswasser.
Foster's! Australian for piss!
I'm dissapointed. He didn't put cheese in it.
i am incredibly disappointed that i wasn't the first person to make this joke
Well the milk was the first stage
Fosters slushy, or frosters? ;))))))
soon as you mentioned gravy I just lost my shit could not stop laughing.
HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE
WHAT THERMODYNAMICS DEFYING WIZARDRY IS THIS
I heard the creator is currently on trial for witchcraft.
.
It looks like a cool sports car!

Should have done Strongbow dark fruit in there. Would have been amazing.
Commercial "What's quick, fun and cool!?"
Mike "Sex!"
I am laughing so hard right now.
I didn't expect this thing to actually work
Its quite simple. The ice in the cup cools down the liquid to freezing point and the squashing melts it slightly with friction as so to not completely solidify it making a slussh of said flavour
I was SO far off with what I expected before he said "cottage cheese".
Cora Thiemann
OMG me too
I had a different model of this product and yes it does actually work.
my grocery store has a drink called Chug which is basically a liquid milkshake and is delicious...I now want to get one of these and try it with Chug.
A liquid milkshake?? Madness.
Ozterkvlt Delicious madness.
sagesaria I think that was sarcasm based on how milkshakes are already liquids.
Master Markus okay fine. *premade* milkshake that's all melted. Are we happy now?
Sounds like carnation instant breakfast
I think I'm actually going to get one, that's really good. I think I'll have to make a few cheeky alcoholic slushes...
This video made me buy one of these and I love it!
Wish this was available to buy in the United States
I live in America, and I saw these a few years ago on television.
Spiderific! Ive seen them at walgreens, walmart and Kroger if I'm not mistaken.
Spiderific! i tried it in america and it didnt work
I bought on (us version) either the UK one has different chemicals in it that make it freeze or my freezer is crap. I have to keep in in for a long time and I still don't get the same results as you do.
I believe we have different chemicals in our tap water.
Tap water has absolutely nothing to do with the function of the product
make sure you didn't buy a rip-off version.
It's the official one, but I have to keep it in the freezer for a fortnight before I can use it. (I think it's my freezer)
I miss frozen coke from New Zealand so badly and this little thing is perfect. I’m going to buy one and surprise my husband with it because it will make his year lol we’re simple people 😂✌🏼
Multi purpose. Either a slush maker, or a realistic Elsa fleshlight.
What about cheese? DOES IT WORK WITH CHEESE?
Hey I KNEW this would work because this is what made me start smushing my icees at Target and I never owned one of these TV only! Smashing with spoon never worked ever and swirling like a glass of wine? No. But THEY saw something that everyone missed since the beginning of time.
We don't even Drink foster, and I live in Australia
The second he said "Gravy!!" I made a sound I could only describe as an uncomfortable whimper
That beginning was absolutely perfect.
No!!!!!'
I'm surprised no one's done any editing on this video to replace the cup with something else yet.
I want this now! they sell it in a few stores here in toronto, but the cheapest is 16$, ugh!
Bunny Meyer (grav3yardgirl) also tried this in her Does This Theng Really Work? series and found it was a success.
....also Omg I haven't seen a fosters beer in ages, did we stop selling them in Australia?
+Christina Phillips i know thety are sold in america i see the cans
I immediately thought of the commercial. I find all beers gross to drink but love cooking with beer. Fosters Australian for beer haha
lol i got one for this passed Christmas.. and it didn't work.. It wouldn't even really freeze.. I left it in the freezer for a couple days and it still wouldn't work.. the pack inside melts too quickly..plus it never froze all the way either..
BEER SLUSHY you win at life!
I actually bought one of these after I saw your review and it would have been great... if the frozen stuff that is in the walls of the cup hadn't evaporated or leaked out... Turns out all the cups at my store were defective.
I have detected an intrusive r: "I have no idea-r-if"
I'm Australian and we don't even drink fosters any more... Just putting it out there
The water component of the beer would freeze before the alcohol, he could theoretically pour off the alcohol and have a rather potent beverage.
They have that here in the America's its called Malta Goya
I am genuinely intrigued about how this works
Gonna have to get me one of these.
Just realized this was made by Funtastic. Check the manual (online) :p
Nicholas Lovan 6 degrees of separation between youtubers lol
isnt funtastic that company that makes really cheap toys mostly found in dollar/pound stores?
Aaron Gosselin
You got it, that's the company ashens is well known for, within pound land
"FUNTASTIC"
huh, no wonder why the jelly maker fell apart when mike tried to use it then
you sell the products better then the ones on the actual infomercials, there was one product though the sorbet maker for kids that one totally fell apart
You basically have an ice cream machine in your hands.
Fosters is like making love in a canoe. It's fucking close to water!
plus one internet for you sir
Where do you get THESE!?!?!?!
Wow, an As Seen on TV product that actually works! What is the world coming to? Does that mean we're going to see stuff like console games that are as good as their PC counterparts?

joshua powell
'looks it up o Gamefaqs'
no it wasn't.
I was just about to type about the Fosters before Mike mentioned it...
Gravy slushy? Now that will make me vomit.
I'm not being a meanie but it wasn't a fair test, the lid makes the results a bit better... Somehow.
But he's still very impressed and he enjoyed it. What does it matter in the end? Something finally works!
I definitely would get one of these :3
"Fosters tastes like pisswater."
My tastebuds say that pretty much every beer tastes like pisswater.
You've drank piss?
Why I don't drink, ladies and gentlemen!
ZoanBlade90 This is why I stick to vodka.
Lokuulio That's different?
ZoanBlade90 Yeah. Tastes like patriotism and camaraderie. Tastes like the good life. Tastes like the Motherland.
Yeah, maybe I was a bit of a meanie...
So basically a tiny ice cream churn
Is frosters like bud light but in the UK
I hate to say this, Mike, but I admit that is much better than Mr Frosty. No wonder Hasbro - who pretty much owns most of the toys and board games makes, have nae common sense whatsoever on consumer product improvement. Nice video and good work on giving us the demonstration on other bevvies!
This is the same reason why a chilled cup is the only way to enjoy on tap root beer.
I always wondered if they work. Thanks for testing it. :-D
If you Fosters you're gunna have a bad time
There are much worse choices out there. Though that's never really worked as an argument for something
An ice pack in a flexible cup, works great until the plastic holding the chemicals in the ice pack fail and the liquid runs out into what ever drink you're trying to make.
it's too bad we didn't get to see you do one with beer
Beer slush? Best idea ever, 10/10 xDD
Gravy slush? Mike you are one sick man
As an old-school Simpsons fan, I have to wonder why you didn't try chutney or undiluted syrup.
Coolness!!! 😎 Something that you actually like!!! 😀
And here I thought only Americans drank Fosters.
Greatest prank Australia ever pulled on the world.
Bro fosters good call
This may be better than Mr frosty but it can't beat frosty at cheese grating!
0:02 when she gives really obvious hints
I literally used to drink gravy when I was younger
Watched this and got one for my. Son he loves it not sure who was more happy bout getting one me. Or him lol
This may be a silly question but could you give me the place or site you get this from? I'm tempted to get it, thanks :3
I got one of these and I guess mine wasn't good. because it never made slushies right. it wouldn't freeze right. even leaving it in the freezer over night and longer! sigh...
It's probably the salt in the gravy
Fosters is the only beer that tastes the same cold, cool or warm so that is a positive, the negative is it always tastes like you'd rather have anything else, EVEN Bud Light Lime and that is saying a whole lot right there :P
I have got the ice cream version P.S to work it takes 2-3 hours
well.. I kinda panned this when I first saw it but I kinda want this...
Unfortunately, I bought two of these for my little sisters and had then shipped to Nevada for them, and this product didn't work. Despite warnings from amazon, I bought em. Not too big of a deal, but still a disappointment to get a phone call saying my gift didn't work.
+houston robinson how does something as simple as this simply "not work"?
+Aaron Gosselin I'm guessing that the chemicals in the sleeve were screwed up by the heat in transit to Arizona. Mike J lives in The UK (I assume), so the transit had less of an opportunity to spend hours in 100+ degree weather
If sex is that quick and cold, you should be worried.
why dose mike looks so depressed?
because he's supossed to prove some of these don't work.
Because he drinks Foster's
I would like to try a Fosters.
Thanx. May stop in argos and buy one
I got one of these and it totally works like with anything. Im underage but brother isnt and he's come home from college and i made him the beer slushy and he said it totally taste yum! I give it 5 stars!
I'm curious, once you've done the video review, do you also leave a review on Amazon? Especially when the weird product actually works.
How does it work
will it work on cheese?
Should of gotten this instead of the slushy magic ice cubes...shaking it vigorously for 5 minutes and barely any slush to it...sure it's a work out but friken hurts after a while and it barely works!
Call that drink a Jodie.... a frigid Fosters
you should have put chocolate strawberry or add some sugar and vanilla extract to the milk it tastes awesome!!
I USED TO HAVE ONE OF THESE OMG
it never worked
But can it make slush cheese?
