全体の給水や排水を容易にするためです。

１，地表が低いところでも速く水を排水しやすくなります。
２，地表が高いところに量が少なくても速く水を届けることができます。
1. Water can be drained quickly and easily even in low-lying areas.
2. Water can be quickly delivered to areas high above the ground even in small amounts.
日本の一般的な水稲栽培技術では田を一度乾かします。
その目的は、余分な穂の生育を抑える事（間伐、間引き、摘果と類似）で一粒の品質を高める事、丈の成長を抑える事で倒伏のリスクを回避する事です。
溝があると排水を早急に行うことができます。
また、溝だけに水を入れる事で、丈を伸ばし過ぎずに稲に必要な水を給水する事も可能になります。（地表より高い位置まで水を張るのを長い時間続けると稲が伸び過ぎてしまうから）
In Japan's common rice cultivation technique, the rice field is dried once.
The purpose of this is to increase the quality of each grain by suppressing the growth of extra ears (similar to thinning, thinning, or fruit thinning), and to avoid the risk of lodging by suppressing height growth.
Grooves allow for quick drainage.
