It may not be everyones favorite, but it is mine. Great cast, great music, and a good story.
The greatest western. It has suspense, iconic gunfights, the railroad as the bringer of “civilization “ and the end of the lone gunfighter. And Henry Fonda as the villain! Inspired casting. And this opening - the waiting, the camera shots from afar, the closeups, the dripping water, the shot under the arriving train, how the credits are naturally made part of the scene. And that Bronson line before shooting the three gang members. It doesn’t get better than this.
And what a beautiful score...an unforgettable film
