Greys and Growth are weak to fire, but get put out by the rain, getting wet, or freezing. Skeletons and blobs are weak to blunt, but can be removed by getting wet or when it's raining or snowing. Trolls are weak to thrust. Blobs are weak to frost. Spirit damage is a weird one where most things are weak or immune to it. Ghosts and skeletons are weak to it but Fulings are immune to it. Stone Golems are very weird when it comes to damage as it's resistant to all physical, immune to all magical, but very weak to pick axe damage. Abominations are easily killing if you drag them over a fire hole in the Swamps. You can also clear these fire holes by leveling the ground to just below the water level. When the Surtlings spawn they will begin to die then drop charcoal and surtling cores. Most players skip Stone Axe and pick up some Flint on any shore for the Flint Axe. You can either build the Crude Bow or skip it by making the Flint Spear to throw by using the middle mouse button. Use either to take out the Beehives which are needed for Honey which can be either eaten (early game) or used in potions and recipes (mid-late). Most players skip Bronze Armor and use Troll Armor because it keeps you fast. Make a Wooden Club for your melee weapon with your shield. It's neutral to most monsters or weak to it. The ones that are resistant to it or weak to another use the bow (primarily the Trolls). Small shields are meant for enemies who can be staggered when you quickly block when the enemy swings causing them to be stunned allowing you to critically strike them. Large shields are meant for enemies who cannot be staggered because they don't stagger, but they have a larger block amount allowing you to block boss attacks. The best "secret" weapon to use is the Stagbreaker which is made with a lot of Deer Trophies and Core Wood. Use these in the Burial Chambers as it'll hit a large area around you even through walls. Use 2 Health and 1 Stamina Food when you're unsure or unfamiliar with the difficulty of an area or Biome. Use 2 Stamina and 1 Health when you're familiar allowing you to exhaust yourself less. Copper deposits are deep. Most efficient way of mining is to dig all around it down to the bedrock (where you cannot dig down any further). Then mine through it and up. This way allows you to build a safer camp spot under the deposit even with a fire (be sure to vent the smoke well) giving you rested bonus. You can also put a portal down back to your base to quickly get rested. Tin is found along the shores within the Black Forest. Combine Copper Bars and Tin Bars to make Bronze which should be used to make 20 Bronze Nails. These nails are used for your first actual boat (Raft sucks), and the very important Cart. Bought the game for my Series X and this game is SHOCKINGLY addictive! Haven't played anything else on my console since buying this game. This game is well worth the money, imo.
I saw some chatters asking for a mod to improve the graphics, I don't know what they are talking about, I bought the game after watching this, I think the world and the forest. the lighting etc all look absolutely gorgeous. I am not familiar with this style but it is almost like a crossbreed between elden ring and wow in some way. I really really like it
Yeah for sure, i think it looks fine, and very unique. Glad it isnt just another game that looks the same as everything else. It should age really well aswell, compared to most games that look outdated within 6months
Honestly I have no idea how they made it so gorgeous with so few polygons. The weather and lighting are simply immaculate as well. The vibe is tangible
lot of people don't realize the graphics are just the art style they went with, but the lighting makes it's absolutely gorgeous at times (coming from someone who typically enjoys realistic textures and graphics like in sim genre)
Rune. The artstyle is based on old games, like Rune.. as is the setting. You can still play Rune on modern systems today (on steam as Rune Classic, has co-op mod too), but they are completely different styles of games. And hell, if you liked Rune, could also try Blade of Darkness, one of the OG action combat style games executed SO WELL, and criminally underrated, probably because it used advanced rendering techniques that murdered old GPUs back in the day. More brutal than any of the Souls games.
Hope this series continues, watched the whole thing and craving more. I usually watch asmon live but don't always have time to keep up with all his content
@@Synthia17 no, still playing. Played a ton, there are some vods on twitch, but none have been uploaded to youtube yet. Also you can tell by the progression there's a lot missing. Sadly..
Just want to give a quick tip for new players! When first starting your torch is your best friend!!! level 1 enemies such as necks, boars, greylings, and yes, those annoying greydwarfs can be scared off with your torch! Even when theyre approaching you, you can just pull your torch out and BOOM. Makes it much easier to chase them down and kill them. Really something i wish i knew before starting lol!
I came back to Valheim and I'm currently doing a modded playthrough, have a mod that allows you to build your own boat and basically sail around in your base, gives a really cool nomad vibe focusing on vast exploration
@@nesaur. pretty sure it's Valheim Raft. i also highly recommend Epic Loot. adds a thrill of finding items, like a hammer that can craft with out a workbench(pretty rare)
No rare drops? I farmed draugr spawners for a couple of in-game weeks to get the Elite Draugr trophy for the Iron Sledge. I played through the original release to Yagluth on three different seeds and never got a Fuling Berserker trophy. No spoilers for you, but even more trophies actually have uses now, so some of the low drop rates can be slightly maddening.
For getting fine wood asap, while log rolling can work, its not always possible for various reasons. However, there is a much more reliable method as long as you manage to knock at least one birch tree down and there's a second birch tree within sight range. You build a door right at one end of the birch log and then open it. When doors open they have a lot of power, and will push the log with sufficient power to damage birch trees. so use doors (probably gates too, but not tested) to push the birch log over to another birch tree and use doors to ram it against that tree over and over till the tree falls, then just ram one log into the other till they start breaking. By the time you're done you should have 12-15 fine wood and 1 half-log. This requires a decent amount of placing doors and pushing the logs to orient them properly first but its reliable. If you want more than most of two birch trees of fine wood, and you almost certainly will, then rinse/repeat using the logs to knock down more birch trees before you start reducing the logs to fine wood so you dont get caught short of logs to use as battering rams against your next victim. Obviously as you're moving your battering ram log to another birch tree you may have to cut down some normal trees on the way with your axe, but thats ok- its valheim, you always need wood.
Once they finish Ashlands, they should just take three years producing content for all the biomes. 3 new enemies for each biome (+ making troll caves worth visiting) and at minimum 2 new "passive" mobs for each biome. Ideally start from meadows and work their way up. Because the last biome to finish is the Deep North, but I'd rather see the rest of the game fleshed out properly before they tackle the last biome, + we have a winter biome already in the form of the mountains, so I'm personally fine with waiting. Biome wise, the game is good. All bosses should also get 2 new attacks in their patterns. A specific one for the elder should be a special vine that shoots out quite fast that will drag the player to the elder. Gates and doors of various kinds are also badly needed. Wide and big, and both.
I agree I feel like they are gonna keep thinking about new BIG things to get peoples attention but they really just need to flesh out what's already here
Upgraded troll armor full set plus a bronze shield , bronze shord ,fire arrows and you are ready to kill abominations at the swamp , the easiest way is to lure abominations over a fire pit and fight it there, or with fire arrow from distance Abomination drops allow you to create de root mask(poison resistance) , root armor (pierce resistance) and root boots for the full set (+15 bow skill)
Best weapon for abominations is a sword. They are resistant to piercing damage and the swamp biome being wet all the time severely reduces the damage from fire (unless you can lure one over a surtling spawn).
For the record, the reason why he always gets "Station too exposed" even if it's completely walled off, is because he places it TOO far into the wall, so the back end of it does become exposed. He always aligns it to clip inside the walls for some reason, that's why they say exposed. If he keeps the back of the station against the wall and not inside it, stations work perfectly fine ^^
holy shit tysm, i do the exact same thing, personally i think its a habit that comes from building bases in games like Subnautica where your space is limited, so i cram it as far into the corner as possible to keep the most floor space available, i was on the verge of psychosis because it wouldnt work no matter what i did lol
2:42 While you are right that Odin is associated with "birds", or.... ravens to be more specific the intro sequence in valheim clearly is a reference to the valkyries. -Associated with death and war, legends say that the valkyries were goddesses who designated which warriors should fall in battle and who should spend the afterlife in Odin's halls of honor, practicing the art of battle until ragnarok where they would fight the jotun alongside Odin.
Minimal QoL mods that require little to no set up, can be done in 5 minutes and you will be forever glad that you did it: Install Valheim Plus, comes with Bepin-ex mod framework. Run game once, then close it. Go to Bepinex/config, open Valheim+ config file, give yourself 2 more rows of inventory. Paste rest of DLLs in Plugins folder: Install TripleBronze JVL, with Jotunn dependency. Install Quick Stack. Install Slope Fix. Install Mass Farming. Enjoy the game. Bonus: configure the mods in Bepinex/config.
There is a mod that adds the green/blue/purple/orange loot with random affixes, all RPG style. Makes it a whole different game. At 3 hours your coal was rolling down the mountain. ;p The full trollhide set gives +15% to stealth, but you are not a stealth player so you shoul go all copper armor until iron.
Greylings/dwarfs are afraid/vuln to fire so just plant a circle of fires around the copper and they run away all over the place or even through the fire and die. Can mine all day and not get bothered. Also fire arrows. Also Stagbreaker weapon AOE nukes skeletons and interupts/knocks them away from you, ez. Just those three things would of made your play way less frustrating. You can also use stagbreaker to AOE nuke massive groups of mobs in black forrest, you can even use it to farm wood/stone/resin by building a pit around/below a spawner. Then use stagbreaker to aoe kill them all. Ez farm. I usually also farm some fine wood by finding towers with benches/stools etc You can get 5-10 fine wood from it and then skip the crude bow and get a fine wood bow before getting any copper. You can then use fire arrows with fine bow to kite trolls and farm troll hides to make troll armor, upgrade troll armor and you now have sneak + can tank pretty much anything in black forrest without even touching bronze or copper stuff. GG. Troll armor is best because its light and keeps you mobile/fast. Bronze armor might be good to get/upgrade for swamp but makes you really slow and is overkill for black forrest. Flint spear max upgraded is also nice as a second weapon. Good for hunting too if u wana save on arrows. As for mining copper, best to dig around the copper straight down and then around, then mine through the middle bottom of copper ball, it goes deep. Eventually it will POP and you wont have to mine all the copper it will just pop and drop all the copper in one big BOOM. Saves you tons of time. You can also put a fire inside the copper mine once u have dug underneath it and turn the mine into a shelter, you now have a perma +10mins rested bonus while mining. :) You can get 100-130 copper per deposit using this method. Copper pits are awesome for trap farms or pulling sea serpents into them for killing for food or making as unofficial pets. :D I made my main base by a copper mine and turned the pit into my underground smelting forge :)
If you want a game that has a very different style than Valheim but similar systems and gameplay loop, V Rising is fantastic. I played the game with a friend entirely PvE on our own server and it was the most fun I'd had gaming since Valheim.
Love this game was awesome watching you play. I like listening to a lot of your content in the background but I chilled out and watched a good portion of this.
So annoying to watching Asmon complain about getting mobbed.....when he's chopping wood or mining copper in the Black Forest at night.....Bro, just go to sleep, wake up at dawn and there are 1/10th the mobs.
The Greydwarfs should appear at night with the other mobs. The stupid Graylings can run around during the day. If the Greydwarf eyes grow blue, it should follow through in the story where they are light sensitive. So, those only come out at night. You have a target locked, trigger depressing. Then, wham. Three Greys start pelting you with rocks. The target gets spooked. Under fire attempt goes wide. Hate those mobs.
im surprised hes not going into the mods, they expand this game so much. got one that gives you an mmorpg feel with group mechanics, boss raids, class systems, and tiers of weapons/armor.
What kind of class system cause one of the main reason I did not start again is the fact that it would be just like first time since you dont get to make much of meaningful choises in this game.
Things don't add up. He has a previous character with top gear, starts a new game to play for the "first time", knows how to get fine wood without needing a bronze ax, but doesn't know he needs a fire near the bed? Sounds like bullshit.
Thing I like about this game is that it's just so easy to get back to and there's only 2 games that I consider to go back and then immediately immerse myself into; which is Skyrim and Valheim. Between the two I'd pick Valheim though because even though Skyrim is easy to just get lost again and start over, remodding the game is what makes it abit harder compared to Valheim. I wouldn't put a vote in Valheim as GOTY material at all but man its such a great game.
FromSoft have a way of putting Souls Virgins in their place Fun Fact Sister Friede is Modelled After Maria in clock tower in Bloodborne Malenia in Elden ring Was Inspired by Sister Friede
AT the 2H mark a very easy solution is to eat food, not the best food you got but you know some berries or some shit lil extra HP and more stamina to kite mobs around
Will this continue or is this just a one-off? The VoD ahead of this was just deleted today, and I was planning to watch it today too, but - EDIT: THEY REDUCED IT TO 7 DAYS WTF TWITCH - retention on his alt channel completely sucks, and I can't find any other archive online that didn't stop uploading videos 2+ months ago. Missing an entire stream's worth of gameplay really really sucks. Edit: And no clearly not this isn't continuing. Why the fuck even have a VoD archive channel if it only archives a small part of each game he's playing? Other channels used to upload EVERYTHING, until UA-cam went AWOL, and now the rest of his Valheim return is lost to time.
Oblivious? He showed his character he had that had endgame gear at the start of the video. Unless I’m mistaken he just made a new character for the mistlands update lol

def try building the log beams and then place floors if you want more accurate builds as they take up less space and allow for more visual aid to building dope houses
Its not all about true to life realism for graphics. Graphics like this IMO stimulate the brain more, provide a more in depth experience and allow you to get sucked into the world more readily. I'm sad for the people who say " the graphics are bad " Developers... thank you.

I don’t get into the crit max style of gaming
The bird that carries you there-is a Valkyrie, not Odin.
Odin shows up in the distance and is watching you through the entire game.
thats actually kind of terrifying to me for some reason
it is Hugin. not valkyrie, not odin 😂 Hugin is not a valkyrie. and ravens r kinda a symbol of odin which was asmongold's point.
@@InactiveChannel-w4s The bird that first flies you into valheim isn't hugin
Bought the game for my Series X and this game is SHOCKINGLY addictive! Haven't played anything else on my console since buying this game. This game is well worth the money, imo.
They should make achievements for this game for people who play it legit, no mods or cheats.

Agreed, bis graphics
It amazes me how quickly his brain just shuts off when he panics and just forgets how to play
It stressed me out just looking at him. Chat flaming him was not helping.
Twitch streamer syndrome. Brain activity drops to 0%. Chat scanning goes to 146%
Hope this series continues, watched the whole thing and craving more. I usually watch asmon live but don't always have time to keep up with all his content
ok
So did he end up playing more? Anyone knows?

Just want to give a quick tip for new players!
When first starting your torch is your best friend!!!
level 1 enemies such as necks, boars, greylings, and yes, those annoying greydwarfs can be scared off with your torch! Even when theyre approaching you, you can just pull your torch out and BOOM.
Makes it much easier to chase them down and kill them. Really something i wish i knew before starting lol!
I came back to Valheim and I'm currently doing a modded playthrough, have a mod that allows you to build your own boat and basically sail around in your base, gives a really cool nomad vibe focusing on vast exploration
that sounds really cool, i've just been using Valheim Plus. What is this boat mod called?
@@nesaur. pretty sure it's Valheim Raft. i also highly recommend Epic Loot. adds a thrill of finding items, like a hammer that can craft with out a workbench(pretty rare)
That sounds incredible, and like something the devs should implement themselves. Would make Sea Serpents more of a threat as well.

From music to lighting, this is a very somber game.
Yeah, Valheim is good for the soul.
Obviously as you're moving your battering ram log to another birch tree you may have to cut down some normal trees on the way with your axe, but thats ok- its valheim, you always need wood.
too much work when you can just enslave a troll to knock trees for you

They are resistant to piercing damage and the swamp biome being wet all the time severely reduces the damage from fire (unless you can lure one over a surtling spawn).
seems way too OP...
I've been addicted to this game since I bought it during the Mistlands release.
"Going back to your stuff in those skelly caves with 25 HP is commendable"
- Odin 24
For the record, the reason why he always gets "Station too exposed" even if it's completely walled off, is because he places it TOO far into the wall, so the back end of it does become exposed. He always aligns it to clip inside the walls for some reason, that's why they say exposed. If he keeps the back of the station against the wall and not inside it, stations work perfectly fine ^^
holy shit tysm, i do the exact same thing, personally i think its a habit that comes from building bases in games like Subnautica where your space is limited, so i cram it as far into the corner as possible to keep the most floor space available, i was on the verge of psychosis because it wouldnt work no matter what i did lol
no, its the wind direction

While you are right that Odin is associated with "birds", or.... ravens to be more specific the intro sequence in valheim clearly is a reference to the valkyries.
-Associated with death and war, legends say that the valkyries were goddesses who designated which warriors should fall in battle and who should spend the afterlife in Odin's halls of honor, practicing the art of battle until ragnarok where they would fight the jotun alongside Odin.

Minimal QoL mods that require little to no set up, can be done in 5 minutes and you will be forever glad that you did it:
Install Valheim Plus, comes with Bepin-ex mod framework.
Run game once, then close it.
Go to Bepinex/config, open Valheim+ config file, give yourself 2 more rows of inventory.
Paste rest of DLLs in Plugins folder:
Install TripleBronze JVL, with Jotunn dependency.
Install Quick Stack.
Install Slope Fix.
Install Mass Farming.
Enjoy the game.
Bonus: configure the mods in Bepinex/config.
This man out here trying to invade the Mistlands on Mushrooms. My dude needs better food
The +15% is pretty meh, and I think you accidentally put "Copper armor" instead of Bronze.
Oh hell yes, going to put this on in the background and start up a game of my own.
When you watch 7 hours of a Mistlands playthrough just to find out there is no other video and he didn't even make it to the Mistlands,.......

Can Valheim be played with people or is it a single player survival?
@@eyeopening618 It is soloable but also multiplayer, and i would say it is best with friends!
I was blown away when i found out asmon can get fine wood very early in the game by aoe farming using part of the fine wood log
happy to see you play Valheim again bro.
Attach your beehives higher up on trees so the ground mobs can't reach them.

Love this channel for asmon's vods. Pls upload more of them
He bragged so much about this game I thought he knew more about the basics lmao
That plus the epic loot mods make the game so much better!
What kind of class system cause one of the main reason I did not start again is the fact that it would be just like first time since you dont get to make much of meaningful choises in this game.
Bruh the new one with the necro mod class is my new favorite, that and the one with 3-5 star enemies is a lot of fun.
@@chevytruckjoe name of these mods pls? :(

So...not his first time..
Things don't add up. He has a previous character with top gear, starts a new game to play for the "first time", knows how to get fine wood without needing a bronze ax, but doesn't know he needs a fire near the bed? Sounds like bullshit.
He’s playing for the first time since the mistlands update. He previously had 200+hours

Its not all about true to life realism for graphics.
Graphics like this IMO stimulate the brain more, provide a more in depth experience and allow you to get sucked into the world more readily.
I'm sad for the people who say " the graphics are bad "
