  • A new episode of Borderless Africa. Here, I share with you my brutal experience of crossing the Togolese border via Aflao into Lome. This continues my adventure into the Africa nations to make my voice be heard about the need for Africa to go borderless and visaless.
As I move on the continent, I also want to know Africa and everything that is in it. In terms of food, culture, lifestyle, education and all that pertains to the people I come across. Everything captured herein in this video is for the purpose of entertainment, education, and promotion.
I have compiled a lot of beautiful photos of my travels on my INSTAGRAM channel at goshers_ , do well to follow me.

I can relate to your experience at the Togo border and I can see it's not about Togo alone so you may experience similar situations as you proceed with your journey. This wicked act exploiting one another is deep rooted within the heart of some Africans that are still mentally in slavery. I can assure you that this kleptomaniac act of theirs may not be known to their government or those in power. Most of those extorted money is for their own selfish gains.
I pray and I hope that we will get it right as soon as possible. Those at the point of entry should always know that we are one people divided by artificial borders therefore ,Africa is a home to every African. Nevertheless, stay strong and I believe that God will lead us through on this journey (Amen).

Again i ask you does it not bother you that those in Africa suffer (including you) due to the ineptitude of so called leaders.
If you are not ready to fight then you are just as guilty.
The problem of those in charge is they are in it only for self interest. Your thinking also suggests 'Self Interest' so you are part of them.
Telling me i am new to the continent, do not make such assumptions if you dont have evidence to substantiate it !

The Togo border is known for being very hostile. They used to give away slaps at that border back in 2005/2006. I remember I used to go into lome to buy clothes

The issue you have raised has been in existence long before Ecowas came into existence. Ghana and Benin, I have not any adverse comments. Togo and Nigeria carry a big question mark. The more you object and challenge the Immigration personnel at the Togo border, you infuriate them, and it is a waste of time. The Ecowas protocol is useless and there is no need for Ecowas. Africa has a big problem.

Dont say the government and officials dont know, they do but dont care. This has been happening for years and virtually everyone knows about it
Those who carry out these criminal acts should be removed from post. I dont like removing someone from their livelihoods but in this instance it is proportionate.
Do you think the head of immigration will get in touch with you to apologise or address this if they do i stand corrected.
What i propose is we the public do two things.
First we need an advisor to provide information of what we can expect at the borders. What we should and shouldnt have to pay or if there is nothing to pay at all. What would cause us to be refused entry or held up.
Then in leaflet form this infomation is given to everyone who intends to cross the border. 'A what to expect guide' Maybe we can write to head of Tologlais and Ghana immigration to clarify these points.
Once there is any departure from this we refuse to comply, take details of the officer(s) alleged of wrongdoing and report them.
Second - anyone intending to cross should arrange to cross the border collectively each day. Where we can all expect the same treatment and challenge impropriety collectively and expose these criminals. It needs a unified, legal and appropriate approach to eliminate this wrong doing !
