As someone who lives in Stoke and knows what a terrible job the council does with the money it gets, well Stoke may look like it's on the way up, but looks are deceiving, Stoke is in bad shape.
Hanley, but one of the 6 towns comprising the uniquely linear City of Stoke-on-Trent, the towns being Tunstall, Burslem, Hanley, Stoke, Fenton and Longton
Burslem was the centre in the good old days. Its still known as the Mother town. Just look at the impressive buildings there - the library and arts college
5:45 thats a fair christmas tree there, Hanley not looking to bad could be alot worse. Not sure whether theyve done anything with the old bus station yet.
Look much cleaner than usual...!! Maybe it's because there's not so many people using the street as a dumping ground instead of using the bins provided...! Used to love Hanley to shop, now I rarely go. The feel of the place is so different now. It's such a shame really......
Some confusion in the comments. The title is correct, it’s just not specific. This is Stoke-On-Trent but it’s specifically the town of Hanley. But it’s still not incorrect to call it a walk through Stoke-On-Trent, and probably a good decision considering most people have heard of SOT but won’t have heard of Hanley. There is a smaller town as well in SOT called Stoke-Upon-Trent but that’s a few miles from Hanley. I suppose this is the equivalent of walking through London and calling the video “A walk through England”.
You cant have a town within a city, they are now officially districts. Just because some people are brought up they still are they are not. There is nowhere on the planet earth such is true.@@ShellysAshes
Known locally as Stoke-on-Toilet. Believe me that's exactly what it is. Was solid Labour for years now all MP,s are Blue along with city council a mix of all three plus indies but basically like many areas North of Northampton (used to be Watford) still hard work to find long term genuine industry/jobs etc. Public spending/government can help but when you look at the video as i say it could be anywhere North of Northampton.
yeah years of labour did wonders for the city, like every other town that was solid labour mass gang raping and grooming being covered up by labour mps running the place
It's funny you should say that because there genuinely was a zombie film that was filmed here. It had Gemma Arteton and Glenn Close in it, The Girl with all the Gifts it was called 😂
It's the guy who comes up to you and says 'I've lost my new Samsung, have you seen it? Could I borrow a fiver to use the phone box to call my girlfriend?'😂
Rather pleasant looking town, the new paving looks great and enhances the built environment. Stoke is on the up
Really? That's good to hear.

@@aboutthemetal8783Absolutely. Only time will tell.
It is on the up slowly, the only people who slags stoke off as either never been there or never been any other city to no any difference.
people dislike paved areas so much, town centres are now going bankrupt.

None of the above have been towns since 1925.
Nice tour. Thanks
Thank you

Demolished along with Meigh Street Car Multi-Storey Park.
Can you do a tour around staffordshire University?
He missed the "mural street". That was my fav part in Hanley.
Stoke has some of the best, most beautiful, most affordable property and housing stock in the UK; shame more don't want to live there.
Really? Shed loads of Romanians would disagree!
There’s a reason Germany didn’t bomb Stoke. It’s devastated anyway😊
Nice tour
Stoke town centre is also a nice place
Lmfao
I thought you might have shown newer parts, like The Hive & the Smithfield district!
I remember Bratt & Dykes and Webberley's
What's happened to the Library ?

Hanley ceased being a town when Stoke on Trent became a city. A ex town within a city is no longer a town.

When was this filmed? Because if it was two weeks ago why in the ferries wheel on and it looks like Primark is open? 😳
I'd assume Nov/Dec filming as the Christmas trees are up.
Was filmed just before the lockdown
