    TEST AND TUNE! One of my favorite things about your videos, we learn so much, in this case, maybe the stock 50mm dia and 1.4 is good for this boat-but the motor might be the real gremlin. I’m thinking lighter batteries, like maybe drag shorty packs, or just smaller mah, same voltage of course just lighter. I’ve learned that medium to no lift props are best on stream line mono hulls.
    If all this fails, it would seam the motor just doesn't have enough ass. Some motors are like that, no matter what you do they don’t have the umph/torque, torque is something you can’t give an brushless motor even when you add more voltage it will turn faster but heats up for a potential loss of power.

    Always fascinating to see how different props affect the boat. That kayak gang better look out!😆 Thanks ya sir! BG4L🚤💨

    If you havent sponsoring on boat when if you tune it later without the stock electronics you might consider the hobbywing 4989(?) and for instance max5 of x8s.... Higher kv's, about same size (think waterjacket probably fits with alterations) and probably more power than this stock motor and way cheaper than a castle motor... That was something that came up in my mind seeing this boat running so far...
    Curious to see what prop or tune gets that hop away also, annoys me 😂...

    The more times I see this boat run the more I like it 👍🏻it will be interesting 🤔 to see what upgrades are available and just what will be “the secret” 🤐 to really getting it trimmed out.

    I see an ESC upgrade to run 10s and a detongued sharpend and balanced X452 is gonna be the ticket in one of these. Leave the rest stock and enjoy an extremely reliable 60+ self righting boat with good temps and runtime. Maybe try 12s with like an M447/X448

    5 bucks says Bib-B gonna eventually gut it and dual prop it, any takers?

    Looking great Big B. In not time you will have that boat dialed it. Each time you make it better. Tinker, test and tune.
    I wouldn’t mind being able to speak to the designers as well as you know me, with what I do to add more to hobby.

      @@mad_lizardthanks brother i appreciate it. Ryan at Proboat is the lead developer, he actually walked me thru the SSW while in development stage. it was really cool seeing the 3d model of the boat preproduction. Originally he had the short wide rudder like the v2 SW but went with the long tapered rudder, (good left and right turns) he also considered a rear ski like the Recoil2.. I just detounged that x455 for the SSW can't wait to test tomorrow..

      @@IRONCLADRC this is awesome brother and how exciting it can be to be part of some of the development. Something to be proud of indeed and what you can add we all know it will be great.
      The 445 should be able to pop you a little bit more.
      I am curious if the boat will take a 2215 abc 2 blade. Total pitch 3.3
      I have a 50 inch hydroplane 850kv 8s running a 5714 prop and seems to do well on that. Sonicwake 48 might be able to pull off at 2215.

    Big B , it’s good that Horizon Hobby let you test drive this new whale of theirs . I have no idea why they rushed this to production . Even an amateur like me can see that this boat is seriously compromised when mods are attempted to increase speed . I know that this was to see impact of different props . However whichever prop you put the boat lifts off the water when you give it a little juice . The boat is not balanced for any speed above 55mph . They seriously need to consider providing variable position battery holders to balance this boat . At $700 this boat comes with nothing that one can work with for performance improvement , which is a serious limitation . As I shared before , no matter what you try , I don’t think you will be able to improve speed to anywhere near the 80mph as you have done with other , less expensive boats . This is not on you but what you have been given . I hope Horizon Hobby realize their design flaws . I love your Chanel , your energy , your commitment but I am upset that Horizon has given you a whale of a boat to showcase . I really hope I am wrong 😊.

      With increased size comes increased difficultly going as fast as smaller boats. He also is using props made for different hulls with different weights, motors with different rpm’s etc. this is all still just weeks old at most. When the 42BJ’s came out it took a while to get them figured out, it wasn’t over night. A standard battery tray vs the SSL system will allow for more cg adjustment.

      I have always run 2 blade props, here recently got into 3 blades. I prefer 2 blade props for speed, 3 blade for good hole shot.

    Big B, if someone takes the plunge and gets this boat, and they currently don’t have huge props…how much should they plan on investing in props to run it?
    Currently only have a few props for SWV2.

    • @IRONCLADRC
      @IRONCLADRC  Місяць тому

      Stock prop works fine to be honest, I like testing new props so I'll probably invest in like 5 or 6 just to see what they do on the boat

    Can you do the biggest mod for this boat that I plan on doing?! Buying a castle 1721 1260kv with an xlx2 hydra, and fitting that spektrum 46mm water jacket onto that can. Either grinding away at the cooling fins on the motor, or making the opening bigger on the water jacket.

    • @IRONCLADRC
      @IRONCLADRC  Місяць тому

      That may just work? The 1721 is only 1.6mm larger in diameter than the spektrum motor.. she'll be fast as hell

    • @peteroosterhoff8850

      Take out back ring bit, inner ring to fit almost exactly the ribs, at back of jacket few mm more.. That way there is room to glue. Clean everything and glue (for example silicone) the jacket to the motor. Make sure its between a rib off the motor, kit it and finally take sopy water the remove residu neatly. When done correctly it doesn't leak and i assume manufacturer guarantee (on motor) also stays that way. I did it with the 1650 and worked flawless...

    Ordered my 48 last night. Can't wait to get it. Didn't get any of the smart batteries cause of cost. I have a traxxas xrt truck that uses 8s so I've already got 8 10k 4s batteries. I also have a sonic wake v2 36 I got last summer. Last time I ran it it melted all of the connectors together wi the zeee 6000mah 3s 120c batts. Has had to cut and replace the escape and batt terminals of and replace with ec5s. All stock except an oxydean prop I saw you test. I hadn't ran it any different than normal with that prop. Any idea?
