I wish I could tell my mother how much I loved her through 6 strings, a sparkling clean tone and a melodic delay that sends shivers down your spine.... Thanks buckethead
Have been listening to this for over 16-17 years now. It invokes so many emotions I just can't explain it. Sometimes tears just rolls down when am a lil drunk. And imo this is better than the studio version.
Man I would've payed a lot of money to witness a performance like this one. I've only known the studio recorded version & I came across this tonight. Beautiful vibes emanate from this artist unlike any other I've ever heard. A truly gifted son sent from the cosmos to enlighten us with his music!!
+deckardplisken Luckily someone replied to this post recently since I had forgotten about this performance. I wrote that original post 2 years ago & to this day I'm still a devout fan of his music. I've heard 80% or so of his albums & seen sooo many live performances on UA-cam over the years but this one does stick out amongst the others. Having not heard it for 2 years it makes me realise again how special & unique of an artist Buckethead truly is!! If only I could show the world this performance & show everyone the talent that emanates from this man's soul.
This video has been #1 on my UA-cam music playlist for at least a decade now... I think it may ever been more... I view it as survivalist of the fittest, and thus, it's never going go, unless this video go's
@@masterchat1998 My mom died 2 years ago... miss her everyday, that's why I'm still so glad this video is still up, means even more then it did when I first heard it. Buckethead Forever!
@@mephiston001 Yeah, man! Sorry to hear about your mom. I hope for this video to not be shut down so you can still think of the beautiful memories you had with her. Stay well 😅👍🏻
Heard this song, w/o seeing the title, while I was studying. Felt so warm and nurturing. I looked to see what it was, and started crying. Just so beautiful and makes me want my mom with me now.
Buckethead is a phenomenon, a freak of nature in the best kind of way, his music is incredible, his abilities unhuman. To me he simply is the greatest player of this era and beyond, of all time.
people dont realize how much feeling goes into these songs. buckethead is the most amazing musician who ever lived. long live buckethead and let his music go on forever.
towards the end, he improvises some scales that are quite ethereal and enveloping. his note and scale arrangements evoke such emotion. he is one of those guys that makes his guitar sing what he's feeling. behind the bucket lies a shitload of emotion. check out the contrasts of the albums 'Colma' and 'Island Of Lost Minds'. he is all over the spectrum, which makes his so very talented, indeed. one of the greatest of all time, CERTAINLY.
you're absolutely right...All the albums he's been successful with, being able to keep a relatively good hidden identity, and not only making it into gh2 but having the hardest song definitely shows all of that
clapton is, dimebag is one of the most unique and best players ever, coolest riffs, breakdowns, and solos with soul ever. stretches across the fretboard up and down with his left hand, probably one of the best ever with his left hand
Buckethead is simply put the most versatile guitarist out there. He's amazing at improv, as well. He may not be the most influential, but I'm willing to bet he's the most skilled.
I wish i could tell buckethead how many things in my life he has got me through and i just want to give the guy a hug he is my hero and always will be.Rock on Buckethead.
Yes Buckethead has a talent that is very unique; his ability to play so many styles with such emotion as noted by many of you, to play with such grace, flow, and almost God like ability, with a musical expression that as far as I know is unrivaled makes him one of my favorite of all time. Very glad You Tube has such a nice collection of his works on video. Thank You!
I love Buckethead because he shows us so much love with the music and the guitar. And he makes music that shows how much he care about he's parents. I wish buckethead were more known. He has all my respect. he's the best man.
It's amazing how Buckethead *is awesome!* can play the heaviest of music to the fastest of shards and solos and then has the ability to play the most emotional and heart warming sounds ever to come from a guitar like soothsayer, for mom, watching the boats with my dad, electric tears and I love my parents. Buckethead, you are truly an inspiration to me and young musicians in the world. LONG LIVE BUCKETHEAD!
Dude, buckethead has sure-as-shit helped me get out of chronic sadness on pretty much every time, since i've known about him. Pretty sure the least i owe him is a hug.
The more I hear his music the more I realize just what a spectacular talent he has. He is also a multi-instrumentalist. Plays a bass guitar, banjo, and a piano. As far as I'm concerned he's one of a kind. Great artist!!!!
Who ever says Buckethead doesn't have soul doesn't know the meaning of life. What guitarist has ever written a whole album dedicated to his parents? Personally I love hearing the raw beauty of his guitar work and I don't have to listen to annoying lyrics about how life sucks, blah blah blah. The man has a heart of gold.
bucket's extremely talented at improv on the guitar, as can clearly be heard on this track. he's certainly, practically undeniably one the greatest of all time.
and just as Vai eventually mastered his teacher, Satch... Bucket has reached beyond the boundaries of his teacher, Gilbert, and has become, in my opinion, the greatest guitarist in history.
This is the third most respected guy in my list...I plan also on wearing a mask, in times to come...and like bucket head, no human relations...I respect that more than anything...someone who doesn't need humans to be best at what he does...5 stars! Buckethead is the real man, the real man...
ive read most of the last comments, and my assesment is vastly different. what makes buckethead far and beyond the best guitartist in history is not his speed, his skill, ect. no, its much more about 2 things: his vast knowledge of the instrument and its many forms of expression, as well as his exceptional attention to melody. his skill is unmatched, but what puts him above the rest is the combination of the 2 elements i just described. he is the mozart of our time.
This has got to be the best version of "for mom" I've ever heard. I can't listen to it enough and the lead takes it to another level , he just hits the perfect notes!!! (well for me anyways)
Buckethead is definitely a complete guitarist. His songs have more soul than any other song on world and his technique is completely amazing. Everybody should at least know him, but in this world talent is not what you need to become famous or rich.
People are saying buckethead sucks rocks. But i've spent several hours referencing him. He can play fast. he can solo w/o a doubt. He can play bass. He can play very melodic stuff. But THIS video, shows how versatile he really is. I don't think a lot of guitarists can do that. They are good at one thing and they kinda skimp over other aspects. He IS amazing.
I am so happy that someone posted this. I love this song. It is great to see a live acoustic performance by the one and only Bucketmaster. Man he totally PwnS all guitarists. My absolute favorite. A+++

He is awesome because he has the talent, the ear and the timing for music and his skill comes from hard core massive practicing for years. songs like this can really show others that buckethead is not just a shredder, but he can create beautifully melodic songs as well.
