There's a problem in Japan with their younger zoo gorillas because most of them are too closely related to one another to be bred, and some kind of international agreement means they can't export them to zoos in other countries. So to enable most of the younger ones to have babies of their own they'd have to import other gorillas, but that's very difficult and complicated too. As far as I know the last gorilla that was imported into Japan was Higashiyama Zoo's silverback Shabani (from Australia) and that was about 15 years ago. They probably can't introduce a new young female to Shabani's group because the two adult females he lives with, a mother and daughter, would kill her...well, maybe that's an exaggeration, but they'd probably bully her relentlessly and wouldn't let her near Shabani. Female gorillas can be horrible to each other. I think most of the "single" silverbacks left in Japan are quite elderly and not in the best health now.

Sumomo is absolutely adorable it is impossible for me to say who is more cute Sumomo or Kintaro they are both unbelievably gorgeous, I love watching all the different families, it's a shame they are separated but I understand it was so they could increase their numbers and Momotaro had to have his own troop as leader. How did Sumomo get that gash on her head?? That looks so sore for her, poor thing. I really love how they all band together and take care of Sumomo, I would give anything to spend a day with a baby gorilla just cuddling and playing it's my dream, they are such majestic beautiful amazing beings. I don't know why but seeing all the bugs around them upsets me a bit, is that normal to have so many bugs around them??

I'm not sure if they actually have a "menopause" like human females do, but I don't think any zoo gorilla has had a baby after age 40, either because the zoo prevents it from happening or their fertility just declines naturally.

Some people are obsessed with Kintaro, they even mentioned Gentaro for cry aloud. Look the pictures of Hintaro in that age and what you see is a very small skinny baby. Also they forget Haoko her father family and it’s just Genki and Kintaro. Respectful i want to mentioned Haoyo family and also Gentaro. Sumomo looks like her father family big, plum and tall and calm but if you want to live in a deceit way , so do.
