This song, written by John Fogerty, was first performed by him with Creedence Clearwater Revival in 1969.
Isn't it ironic that this protest song about how the wealthy and powerful are able to avoid sending their own children into battle, in (originally) the Vietnam War, should be performed today at the seat of power in America, to an appreciative Commander-in-Chief?

The US military-industrial complex has heard far worse in terms of anti-war sentiment. The song was written about Vietnam, is still applicable today, and I think the White House guests that evening probably identified with it deep in their hearts...the song actually is patriotic, if you stop to ponder it. The military personnel probably prefer peace over war, hands down!

I love this! "David" telling 'Goliath " to shove it! Reminds when John Lennon took a shot at English Royalty when he basically told the queen to rattle her jewelry. I've always admired, respected...and envied... those underdogs who are not afraid to tell the big boys that "you're no better than anybody else"...especially to their faces.

Anytime Fogerty wants to play I will go to any place at any time in any version, he wrote the damn song he can play it any way he wants too. I wish I had been there to hear it live!
watching this makes me uncomfortable this song is an anti-war song while we are bombing so many places I lost count. I mean he's singing it in front of the president and pretty much all the high-ranking officials in the military.

Drummer is Kenny Aronoff who started off playing for John Melencamp live and all his albums. Kenny is one of the most sought out studio drummers and is hired by a lot of bands to go on tour with them. Mainly single artist like Fogarty ect ect.
