A big problem for me was how uneducated I was on what menopause was. I thought I would just stop getting a period and that was it. I Was never educated in all the symptoms that would happen for the years prior to. All of the sudden I was experiencing anxiety, stress, weight gain in just my stomach. I had no idea they were pre cursers. Had I known I would have stated the HRT process way earlier.

I think a lot of us women thought the same as you. I just turned 60 and have been educating myself since I started noticing changes at 44. I grew up thinking menopause was just a couple of hot flashes and your period stopped. No one ever talked about it. I had no idea it was much more than that. Sleep issues, hot flashes, night sweats, weight gain, zero libido, heart palpitations, low energy, joint pain, etc.

Same! I started having panic attacks on the highway suddenly at 47. Had to have my teenage boys drive if we had to get on the highway (and having teen boys drive the highway is panic inducing in and of itself 😂). I’m now about to turn 50, sweating my a*% off and suddenly it’s all making sense lol (and I haven’t missed one period, so that has nothing to do with it).

@@Nrsesand1 A lot of the women's health initiative conclusions have been walked back . First, the estrogen only arm of the study women who all had previous hysterectomies showed a decreased incidence of breast cancer. Now their is a paper out, Dr. Avrum Bluming is the lead author that challenger the statistics of the horse estrogen/ progesterone arm of the study. Dr.Bluming said their statistics don't reach the level of statistical significance . In other words they could be coincidence.Even worse , Dr Bluming says that the control group of this arm of the study has an unusually low risk of breast cancer. By coincidence some of the women in the control group had been on estrogen in the past as ND this lowers their risk of breast cancer so in comparison the estrogen/ progestin grip looks like they have a high risk of breast cancer. Remove the women with past history of estrogen use from the control group and this arm of the study shows no elevated breast cancer risk. So in conclusion the women's health initiative shows no elevated risk of breast cancer with HRT. You need an jp to date doctor. Good luck. As an added safety measure you outright might want to have genetic testing to see if you have increased risk of breast cancer. My understanding is that estrogen can make a estrogen sensitive tumor grow, but it does not cause the cancer.

This information is so important and definitely needs to be blasted out to everyone! My male physician said he would not put me on HRT, thank goodness my female gynecologist agreed to. I told my male Dr he wouldn't because he's a man. My life completely turned around after starting on the patch and progesterone. My symptoms were absolutely debilitating. I'm so grateful for being made aware of HRT and it seems like everyone I speak to thinks I'm speaking a new language. So I make sure I tell as many people as I can.

incredibly timely!! I'm heading to a new doctor today to discuss TRT for women. I've been on a very low dose of compounded cream (Belmar Pharmacy) for 9 months and it's the best I've felt in a decade... dropped 10 lbs, feel energetic, very sound sleep and I just feel younger. The horrible doctor I just saw at the Cleveland Clinic refused to refill the prescription bc it's not FDA. She also had very bad skin and was obese, so there were serious red flags....but I got on the NAMS site and found a doc who will not bill insurance so she's not a slave to big pharma, like the poor CC doc. I'm happy to drive 90 minutes and pay out of pocket for actual care... and having this info is invaluable. Also, the FDA is not perfect (eg Oxycoton and Purdue Pharma 😢)....TRT and HRT require patient education ❤

Thank you, Peter… because of your many videos on HRT, I felt informed enough to talk to my doctor. I am 56 and my last period was July 2022, my hot flashes were every hour and progressively got worse to the point I was almost in tears daily due to the frustration. The night sweats, anxiety, heart palpitations, brain fog, spare tire around my lower abdomen and fatigue was taking its toll. I am now on my 8th week of being on the estradiol patch & progesterone pill and it has literally changed my life. All my symptoms are pretty much gone, I may have a hot flash during the day, but they are not anywhere near as intense as before I started HRT. I finally feel like myself again, I no longer feel as though some alien force has taken over my body. So thank you and to all of your guests that felt the need to get the word about HRT, it has literally given me my life back and I now have hope for my future as a healthy, happy mature woman. ❤️

This is one of the best discussions on the history of HRT and menopause I've ever heard. At almost 68, I was in full menopause by age 43 and had no idea what was happening. The rage. weight gain, and so many other symptoms were "treated" by a psychiatrist who put me on multiple drugs, including ritalin after an informal diagnosis of adult ADHD. (no cognitive therapy back then.) I am the co-author of the vetted book "Singing Through Change: Women's Voices in Midlife, Menopause and Beyond" about female singing voice changes," and went back on HRT at the age of 63 after going off of it because of the WHI study.

Hi! It’s been a long process of trial and error for me. I started with birth control pills when perimenopause started. We (my doctor and I) tried multiple brands and none worked out for me. I was experiencing extreme anxiety and emotional problems on them. We then moved on to testosterone and estrogen creams (I can’t remember if the cream contained progesterone). After a year and multiple blood tests, the creams were not showing to give me the levels of hormones that my body needed. I have been on Bijuva (I have a uterus) and monthly (every 28 days) testosterone injections for a number of years now. I take Bijuva every day, it is estrogen and progesterone combined into one pill. I feel great and have almost no symptoms! Like most women, my symptoms were more complex than just having hot flashes. I had brain fog, sleep problems, extreme exhaustion, and (most distressing to me) extreme mood changes. My doctor said that I will be on HRT until the average age of menopause. I have yearly mammograms and see my OBGYN doctor annually. I hope you find what works best for you! Be patient and know that it may take a while.

Disrupted sleep patterns, hot flashes with anxiety at night. Was advised not to use HRT due to Breast cancer risks. I’ve battled on and now discovered all women who used HRT are faring better on all counts in Menopause. Now Im told I again shouldnt use HRT because Im 65. Im fit healthy and I want to go on it. My doctor is resisting my request to go on it. Any advise? Should I see a GYN instead? I dont care about the risk factor anymore I just want a quality of life. I live in Philadelphia PA and in the last few years every time I mention it to any doctor women and men it's a complete flat-out no because of risk of cancer. I'll tell them that the woman's health initiative has been debunked and that you need to use you know real progesterone and everything I've been reading about and I go into these doctor's offices more informed than them and they won't budge at all. But of course they want to put me on prolia for the rest of my life which is like so detrimental to your body they want to put you on statins even when you don't have high cholesterol because they want to protect against heart disease which HRT does that protect you against osteoporosis and heart disease. The medical mainstream medical community is just about profit and pharmaceutical drugs. And prescribing drugs by doctors clicking their pen with their pad and that's it there's no discussion they can't even have a discussion about this It's very antagonistic my interactions with doctors and I'm talking about teaching universities. University of Penn is still recommending like 1200 to $1,500 mg of calcium on a DEXA scam with like 800 I use a vitamin D3 and no vitamin K2. This is an ivy League teaching university University of Penn in Philadelphia none of them diagnosed my celiac disease back in 2018 I had to do genetic testing on my own and that's when I got diagnosed with osteoporosis scoliosis alopecia Los enamel on my teeth osteoarthritis You know meanwhile I've been a runner and exercise enthusiast dedicated had a pet service business where I'm walking out in the sun weight bearing my whole life salsa dancer. It's really abysmal my interactions with mainstream medical community It just seems about strictly about profit at the risk of women's health or anyone's health even children's. Sorry, Peter. Another person is seeking some answers. I know this will not be a medical consultation, and I must speak to my GP or Gynae (when I get one). I would like to ask you some questions so I can be well-informed when I seek medical advice from my doctors. This might be a lengthy comment, so I hope you're kind enough to read it. Some background. General health Hypothyroidism, Bipolar, Asthma. I stopped having my period at the age of 50 years of age. The process was not too bad. I then had a random bleed when I was age 52; this was checked and had no issue, and nothing since. Then, in early 2022, I got symptoms of increased urination, not sleeping and teeth erosion. I was diagnosed as having issues with PTH, CA and Vitamin D. This was fixed with Vitamins. I then got Covid 19 in July 2022. I had very few symptoms, only sinus/asthma issues. When I went back to work, I struggled with breathing at first but continued to take it easy as I was aware of this being an issue with COVID-19 after a few months. I went to the doctor, and from then on, I had 2 lots of oral steroids, 4 lots of antibiotics, 2 lots of antihistamines and a Steroid spray. I have been so ill since and have had two mental health admissions and 6 months off work. Nobody could tell me what was going on other than you MIGHT have a metabolic disorder or autoimmune disorder, but no definite diagnoses. Here are the symptoms I have been suffering from over the 18 months: Severe mental health issues (depression, panic attacks, anxiety, forgetfulness, forgiveness, no concentration). Teeth breaking, bone aches, glue ear, peripheral neuropathy, pigmentation and skin changes. Changes in eyesight, lots of weight gain although eating well. (increase metabolic symptoms on blood test) Chronic cough at night, rib pain, nausea, vomiting, bowel changes. I think I'll stop there. There are many more symptoms. I've been feeling 98 years old and deficient in mood due to the feeling of what feels like serious aging (signs) LOL. I went to see my Dad's doctor over a mole change, as he is the best in town for that. He also has an extensive career in emergency medicine. I said I was not working due to an illness that had been for 18 months. I told him a few symptoms, and he said that I was going through Post-menopause. Like most people, I thought I would never ever go on hormone replacement therapy due to the media and research, but as soon as the doctor told me that, I said, "Slap that patch on now". He prescribed me Estraderm MX25. I've just started, so I wouldn't know that they are beneficial yet, but I understand that it may take time, as I've found out. I also found out, but I'm not sure if it's true, that because I have a uterus, I should be taking progesterone, too? Could you direct me in the right direction? Should I be using both? I also want to use a patch due to my liver getting a workout all the time from bipolar medications. Would Estalis continuous 50/140 patches be a great place to start rather than just the Estraderm MX25 patches? Thank you for helping with a starting point. Please Help This has been the worst I've ever felt.

I just wish we would talk more about how peptide bioregulators and peptides can help us during peri/menopause. I also wish we would talk more about how HRT does not help all women, because there are many women who in spite of training, eating well +++ and being on HRT, they still can't lose weight, experience symptoms etc. We certainly have many options, but we still have ways to go imho

Topic request re: new onset glucose intolerance and high insulin following initiation of BHRT (and or HRT w/ uterus thus progesterone needed) as follows: 2.5 Bi-Est continuous with 200 Prometrium 12 days per month. I'm 54 and 4 years natural post menopause. I wear a Freestyle Libre to prevent diabetes. 2 months of aforementioned regimen changed glycemic parameters as follows: A1C from same time last year (no BHRT) was 5.5. Most recent A1C 2 month post-BHRT is 5.9. Fasting insulin increased from 8 to 20. No other changes to diet/exercise aka same daily protocol. Started BHRT due to occasional night sweats and brain fog. Three Questions: 1. Is bi-est (80 estriol/20 estradiol) too weak an estrogen to counter oral prometrium/progesterone? 2. I do not use testosterone although MD recommending addition for low energy. Will testosterone help or hurt and what dose/delivery is safest for initial trial? 3. Could this regimen cause high cortisol? To close...I've read clinicals where progesterone can induce insulin resistance since this is true during pregnancy. Would LOVE your insights/data here.

I’m 58 years old and my period stopped at 54. I had anxiety and insomnia before but since there was no discussions about menopause, I was totally unfamiliar with it. My cycle was always within the 28th day and lasted for three days. I felt healthy with no symptoms until a few months ago, after I turned 58, I began having serious joint pain and aches. All other menopausal symptoms started to bother me also. I still never have night sweat but I’m always cold now. I had a dexa scan like you recommended in your book but so far the result is ok. And when people look at me, I don’t look old and it’s frustrating that people think I’m lying. My female Doctors don’t want to give it to me even I have no history of cancer because they consider my symptoms as mild. It’s also a risk playing with hormones that can become overwhelming to doctors with marginal profit. Having Tricare and VA for health insurance is another hurdle. I’m told there’s no study out there that shows estrogen can help on post menopausal since I didn’t start the treatment prior to menopause. It’s like I can’t fill the bucket with estrogen after it’s been emptied. What else to do?

Not enough is done way before menopause stage even begins!
Progesterone was awful for me. Now doctors say antidepressants are good for menopause 😡 and estrogen isn't‽
I want a hysterectomy so I don't have to take Progesterone but doctors won't approve it!!
HRT seems like a complete guessing game.

My wife and I got married in our late fifties and both started HRT. MY PSA was .78 when I started and went to 4.8 in 5 years. My wife developed uterine cancer and had surgery but kept with the HRT and developed Her2 positive breast cancer 2 years later and had surgery, chemo and radiation. We love Peter but I disagree when he says (3:30) that HRT has caused zero breast cancer. Our situation might be antidotal, but we are sure HRT caused our cancers. We are in our sixties now and living a good natural life with good labs not trying to fool our bodies into thinking we are in our 30's. This is just our story but I would think twice about jumping into HRT.

What country do you live in? Search on Google the 'Menopause Association in your country' or " Menopause Society in your country " to find a good menopause Doctor.. I have PMDD also, the research I did says that taking 'bio identical Progesterone' day 21 to 28 of your cycle (or even day 14 to day 28) may assist with your symptoms. Your Progesterone level rises by taking the Bio identical Progesterone during day 21 to 28, therefore there is not a big level gap between estrogen and progesterone. Because when you have a big gap in the 2 hormone levels, that's when the pmdd symtoms kick in. By reduce the gap between estrogen and progesterone, you then reduce the PMDD systems.
