I understand what you mean, but a lot of people who grew up disabled may have spent a lot of time in the hospital, away from peers, and their parents end up becoming very attached to them. It doesn't happen most of the time, but it can do.

I was 6 and my step-dad licked my face once (I was awake) for no apparent reason. It was gross and I hated it. Can't imagine my response would have been any more joyous had I been sleeping.
That being said; I envy their energy levels in the morning! No coffee, just leap outta bed to happily run circles around a table for no reason. Dang! I kinda feel bad for the first two. I feel like the mom is trying to age regress her child because she’s too scared to accept the fact that her daughter has to grow up since growing up means an inevitable death. She’s realized that her child may not live to be very old so she completely ignored the fact that she’s growing. Usually parents don’t have to focus on their child’s mortality but when an illness comes in, they have to realize the consequences of said illness.

I agree that plastic surgery isn't a magic catch 22 that will solve all your problems and insecurities, but it's not pointless & vapid. People deserve to feel their best, and if that means [healthy/not dangerous] modifications or other means (make up, plastic surgery, losing or gaining weight, working out), I think it's ok.

Surgery can increase confidence but not self love that is what OP meant. Even trans people need counseling and their therapists need to make sure they mentally are strong and love themselves so the surgery doesnt cause more dysphoria and depression. Anyone shouldnt go under a knife without making sure they already love themselves. The girl in this video clearly doesnt and has a lot of issues.

Honestly these both make me sad- It feels like first mom infantilizes her daughter to such a degree because she's incapable of viewing her as a grown woman from her condition, and maybe like another commenter said because she's afraid of losing her daughter to health issues. So she just wants to keep things the same as they always were when her daughter was a child.
And with the second the mom is way too over involved in her daughter's life to where it seems like there are no boundaries and the mom will just give the daughter anything to make her happy. Which sounds nice in theory but I think stunts the girls personal growth. The daughter can never develop the abilities to find happiness within herself, and will always looking for external validation through surgery or another person's affection.
All this surface stuff about their closeness is odd and cringey, but I think just indicates more tragic things going on underneathe.

It’s interesting that in each of these families the daughters have some kind of medical disorder that kind of acts as a catalyst to their moms becoming so clingy. It’s actually kind of sad. Brittany had so few friends that her mom stepped up and fulfilled those roles for her and the other woman could die a slow painful death and I can’t even imagine how traumatizing that is for both of them

How this mother (2nd one) could let her daughter need her that much is truly disturbing... She clearly doesn't think about her daughter's future at all. Does she think she will live forever?? It's even worse than that...what they have is called codependency & you can & will lose custody of a child to the other parent because of it in court. A child/parent needs to be able to be away from one another, be able to still function & you know..live without said parent/child. They shouldn't "need" each other to function. Only a baby should be that dependent on it's mother, and the mother should NEVER be dependant on the child. That puts so much pressure on the child, that for not just their sake, but their mothers, they will will be hesitant in everything they do, out of fear that they might upset their mom. I mean of course they could be sad, but with codependency, when either are separated they are completely devastated, will suffer greatly & not know how to live or cope without the other.. Therapy would be needed. You should never let your child have that kind of dependency on you. If something were to happen to you, just think of how that would affect them...and you also.. This mom here has had a co-dependency with her daughter for so long, that the thought of what would happen to the poor girl if something (God forbid) happened to her mom is terrifying. This mother still has her daughter because she obviously didn't have to do a custody battle.
As an added note- I'm just writing this to maybe help anyone at all, in any way. I'm not judging anyone. Just stating what I know to be the truth of that type of situation. My knowledge on this subject is based off of real life events of friends & family, where someone was falsely accused of having a codependent relationship with their child by a G.A.L. in court. Won't go into all the known details, just letting you know that I'm not talking out of my a$$ lol. However I am not a professional doctor, therapist, attorney, or anything like that. So, take what I say as advice from a friend. A non professional friend lol. ;)
