Great video guys I agree with the Genres getting out of hand. I say Dani is right comes down to personal opinion. Some bands start off as one thing then end up being something else. I love music all types off music
That MoFi Moody Blues album is one of the best sounding MoFi's I own. I love it. I hate to admit it but I don't spend alot of time thinking about all of the different genres. Lol. Pink Floyd is progressive rock in my opinion. That Matchbox 20 album is a sweet find. Have a great weekend!
DAYS OF FUTURE PASSED WAS AN IMPRESSIVE INTRODUCTION! IT'S MY 2ND FAVORITE ALBUM OF ALL-TIME. NICE HAIR TOO. YES, THAT GREY CAP IS SHARP AS WELL. YOU TWO ARE BOTH LOOKING GOOD IN THAT MEDIA ROOM.
The Moody Blues pure class and I've seen them live three times. They never dissapoint and their concerts have always been memorable. Thumbs up to your mom. Peace.
Awesome finds guys! Never seen that Matchbox 20 on vinyl before. Highly underrated band that I think will get in the Hall of Fame one day. Sweet GNR Illusion find! Love Division Bell and I’m definitely Team Gilmour! Please show your Pink Floyd collection, that would be awesome. -Russ
Subgenres are another name for style. It usually involves how time is kept and the melodies that make up the song. Each song could be given a style but artists typically do more than one style often on the same album. The subgenres/style explain the evolution of a genre chronologically and may also hint at a geographic region. The subgenre/style Leftfield supposedly permeates many genres. Discogs has a list of styles that have to be approved to be used. The distinct subgenres lets retail stores separate metal and punk from rock. It allows you to carve out sections so buyers can browse other titles that are similar within a smaller section. Anything that could be consider 2 different subgenres, should be filed as a general title in the main genre section.
I would love to hear your Pink Floyd collection! My fav to! Meddle Is such an awesome album I have most of Pink Floyd on LP and the rest on tape and of course CD's to lol, Great video tonight you both are great to watch! :)
So I just found this video and really enjoyed the show n tell and the rant as well. Bottom line don't let the haters get to you. I've only been back into vinyl this past year after walking away in 08. You mentioned Noble Records youtube channel. I'll freely admit being home down with covid and watching some of his videos and I got hooked once again. Living in CO we see a crap load of punk and metal but jazz is hard to find. Bottom line keep enjoying what you are doing and don't let the dip s***s get ya down.
Idea for a rant: those who turn their noses up at anything that isn’t a first pressing! There is one dude who won’t like any of my IG posts unless it’s an OG 🤣🤣 AND I’ve seen people give others a hard time if they spent a lot on a really cool reissue instead of “saving up to buy the OG” as if buying an OG only comes down to money, and not availability. Drives me insane! It’s definitely something I notice a lot in the community. Or the people who turn their noses up at colored wax as if wax must be black in its natural form.
Still loving your vids guys! Nevermind Sugarhill...not enough reggae! Loved the bit on Jimmy Cliff 🔥 MC5? Kick out the JAMs MF's KLF? Justified Ancients of Mu Mu? Ft Tammy Wynette? Just wondering 🤔
I hate overly specific labeling. Example this is neo country folk black metal pop punk. And hate bands that try to separate themselves from a pre existing genre by making up their own genre.
Right now I'm using 31 genres to sort my CD collection and 38 genres for my vinyl collection. I'm always thinking of new genres I can use or made up. For me it's easier to find my records this way because you can easily forget a band's name or the last name of a certain jazz or hip hop artist for example. Not only that, using genres makes record collecting a lot more fun and it gives the collection a lot of personality, like each genre represents a certain time in music history or in your life, a certain mood or a certain cultural phenomenon. I think sorting your records in just alphabetical order is boring, and it is also dangerous cause it could easily turn you into some kind of hoarder. Take Bowie for example, I have his classic vinyl stuff in the proto punk artists section and then his 80's stuff in the New Wave section. But some day I might put his non glam stuff like the Berlin trilogy in the electronic or experimental section. I could give you a lot of examples like that. And I would not stand to put say my Cure or Cocteau Twins albums, or my Celtic Frost and Mercyful Fate albums next to my exotica mambo or salsa records from the 50's and 60's. That would look insane.
Love that moody Blues. I have most of their stuff. Match box 20 is a really great album. Great stuff. As far as genres, I firmly believe buy what you like but don’t shut the door on unknown groups. I’m a classic rock type of guy, but I have jazz and blues, comedy ,albums classical some traditional Italian Buy what you like But don’t be afraid to take a chance.
The only Misfits stuff I like are the Michale Graves albums. Unpopular opinion, but I don't really like punk much so I'm surprised I like them as much as I do.
Love the hair!😍 Misfits A+

I love Reggae and ska but didn't know fishbone was ska! Thank you! Thumbs up! Trish
Yeah, they started out as ska, or punky ska... and then later fused more reggae, rock, soul, funk and metal into the mix! Best live band ever!!!
The Moody Blues pure class and I've seen them live three times. They never dissapoint and their concerts have always been memorable. Thumbs up to

Truth and Soul is one of my favorite records of all time
It's so good and always overlooked !
Tha best!
Love the moody blues too but my favorite is to our children's children's children
Mark would have fun looking at all the genres at Rate Your Music, haha.
Also I had that Fishbone album when it first came out and someone stole it!
So I just found this video and really enjoyed the show n tell and the rant as well.

Just wondering 🤔
Dani knows what's up. My favorite core band is Malevolence. They combine Hatebreed, Pantera, sludge, and lots of other stuff. Check 'em out.
FISHBONE!!! HELL YEAAAH!!! Fbone Souljahs unite! "Truth and Soul" is definitely a banger! They rule!

Reminder: if you play every butthole surfer album backwards simultaneously, you hear BOSTON
That is one of my top ten albums. Have it on cassette

So true !
Fishbone is the best ever and Truth and Soul is their best album. You done good.
re. Genres. i just use Rock/Pop to classify any of the popular music. sub genres are more subjective and tend to be opinions.
I like to hear about the rock band. Taxxi
Love whatever you love in music I listen to all different genre's and that's ok with me
Unfortunately humans always have the need to classify things into different categories
The only Misfits stuff I like are the Michale Graves albums. Unpopular opinion, but I don't really like punk much so I'm surprised I like them as much as I do.
the video image is too poor, you need to fix it more
On a video posted 8 months ago? Okay, makes sense. Thanks so much for your feedback that we didn't ask for!
There is NO Metal, it all just Hard Rock. Just ask Tony Iommi , are you gonna argue with Tony???,
No.
The only "genre" of CORE that is worthy is GUTALAX 💩
