The Queen - An Archetypal Perspective

  • Hi, everybody,
There are other countries that have queens. There’s Queen Noor of Jordan and there's a Queen of Norway, and Thailand has a queen. But if you said The Queen, everyone knows it's the Queen of England. It was Elizabeth. She was iconic. She embodied the queen archetype fully, totally and completely. Which is why this is an archetypal passage. This is exactly the type of experience that the world is going to feel the impact of for quite some time. Because with her passing, a shift in an archetypal pattern is going to happen. There'll never be another queen like her ever.

I agree. She took on a a more demanding soul contract than most of us could imagine. When her soul stepped away from the planet, we all have felt the shift. We may interpret it differently, but we all feel it.

I didn't realize the effect Queen Elizabeth had on my psyche until she passed away. I am looking at her now more closely than ever, and I see an unimpeachable soul who embodied her role as though it were a second skin. Her quiet ubiquity is what gets me the most. May she rest in peace.

Let’s not get carried away. She made mistakes just as we all do. She was human. She had grace and a pleasing public face. That was her job. While the archetype of the queen is fascinating she was a 96 year old woman, head of a colonial regime and someone who lived off money derived from slavery. .

The passing of Elizabeth was very emotional for me, because to me she also represented the generation of my Grandmother who was 6 years older than the Queen and she passed in 2016, when she was 95. I think we feel emotional, because the death of Elizabeth is also representative for the extinction of a generation of women (and men) who went through so much during their lives. I think the younger generations could never endure what these people have gone through. It has a lot of good sides that we are much more sensitive nowadays, but we can also learn a lot from a generation that was so hard working, steadfast, reserved, guarded and private.

Wouldn’t you serve as the perfect vessel to educate younger generations on the value of our ancestors then? Some of us (I’m a millennial) younger generations are naturally drawn towards older values and see the value of them and we look to others to educate us on them. It may not look like it but there is a natural order of things. We fear people forgetting where they come from but our soul never forgets.

From the UK thank you for putting into words exactly how I have been feeling about the passing of HRH. The mention of the empty nest syndrome explains it well. We have a soul contract here, Thank you for this.

I've been studying your work for years and this event did feel like a very significant end to a less complicated time in history. It might be my age talking but I will miss the fairy tale. I could not put my finger on it until you spoke about the queen passing as a loss of stability. With her passing I feel a great sense of instability on top of all the political instability going on right now. Come to think about it, there is instability with governments, energy, the environment, religions, viruses and much more. Well, thanks again.

With the Queen’s passing. It does indeed reign in the end of an era. So true. Never again, in this life time, will we experience the quintessential archetype of the Queen mother. As Elizabeth embodied. It gives light to new archetype, perhaps, the Cosmic-Earth Mother and her vast network, ushering in all her children, the animals, plants, oceans, elements. It is poignant how the reins of the monarchy are handed over to Charles with his respect for the environment. This new era where the stewardship of the earth is in all our hands. As we begin or inner descent to the cosmos and beyond. Thank you Carolyn for lifting the veil and expressing that which I felt but didn’t have the verbal landscape to express. I am ever so grateful for your guidance, and in many respects, helping shape the way I view the symbolic, dimensions of life.

The first time I saw her in New Zealand I was 3 so she has always been in my life and now I am almost 72. I think her loss is going to be felt years from now. Interesting perspective. Always wonder about this stuff. A human being works their ass off, does their duty, serves the collective. How is it for the spouse, the children, the neglected parts of self? And then there is the Princess Archetype so embodied by Princess Diana. She blew a huge hole in that myth. Diana showed us the shadow side of the monarchy. Being picked out as solely an appropriate breeding mare with no thought to the personal consequences to the individual human being. Surely we are facinated by the tragic, soap opera lives of the royal family. What about the sister to the Queen, Princess Margaret? What would Carolyn say about her? Do we have some lifetimes of duty and then break free in other lifetimes. What will Queen Elizabeth's next incarnation be? A solitary hermit in the woods who wants to spend her life in quiet reflection?
And as far as duty goes. I have yet to forget what my mother said to me on my high school graduation. She said "I've done my duty to you. I didn't enjoy any of it. Now go and don't come back. I'm done." Just some thoughts racing through my brain. I did enjoy listening to Caroline here.

Diana chose to marry Charles even though she admitted to not loving him. I guess she thought being a fairytale Princess would mean she lived happily ever after. Diana was no victim. She ended up in an unhappy marriage by her own choice! She was the first to have an affair as well. Sad that even 25 years after her death Diana is still enmeshed in the victimhood archetype. She was equally to blame for the breakdown of her marriage and even after multiple affairs she still didn’t seem to find the perfect love she was looking for. Maybe because it doesn’t exist but yet society still pushes that fairytale myth on each generation. No wonder so many relationships don’t last.

    • @motheryuba57
      @motheryuba57 2 роки тому +1

@@dee8714 Diana was a young girl in her teens for God's sake- completely inexperienced in relationship, unmothered, unfathered, from a broken home, a girl who was sucked into the vortex of history and/or fate. At that point in time Charles was forbidden to marry the woman he loved because she was a divorcee and not of royal bloodlines. He had to marry a virgen, Yes, someone of high enough lineage, etc., etc.. Diana was a victim of circumstances or was it her destiny because she most definitely broke through her victim role and went on to speak truth, to find herself, to gain experience, to use her position to bring attention to the devastation of AIDs epidemic, landmines, to work on behalf of the underserved. She was incredibly courageous to break free from the confines of the royal family dysfunction. She shared her feeling nature and her vulnerability with the whole world in a family system that was notorious for not showing feeling and vulnerability. She won over the whole world and was one of the most grieved human beings in my lifetime. Not everyone wants to give up their sacred Self to play a perscribed role that has become obsolete.

As president Macron stated, Queen Elizabeth was indeed the UK's Queen, but she was also THE Queen. She was the Queen of the world for 70 years providing a constancy in a time of enormous and unimaginable changes in our world. The world is changing not only to having consciousness at its core, but heart as well. Maybe we can change the narrative about chaos following the end of the expression of an archetype. I'm a Chicagoan, now living in Ireland with my Irish husband, but somehow felt so moved by her death and then in contemplating her life. I feel as though her death made us all look at her life and the qualities she had that are so rare these days - dedication to duty and service performed with grace and a humble spirit. Maybe reminding us of the value of these qualities.

Thank you, Caroline; this was helpful and insightful. As usual for me, it generated a couple additional questions -
    1. Your description reminded me of the novel by Neal Gaiman - "American Gods" - and how their existence was dependent upon those who believed in them. So the idea of archetypal patterns diminishing, evolving, transforming, disappearing......similar process? As our consciousness changes and evolves, so do the archetypes with whom we identify? OR do the archetypes exist whether or not we identify with them or embody them or enact their energies? I suppose they could lie dormant and be resurrected at significant points in time. ???
    2. I work directly with families with small children, my specific passion is fathers and their infants. This has caused me to become much more aware of the conversations of toxic masculinity and patriarchal power. I'm curious how the shifting and changing of the Queen archetype will affect these topics and in what ways? (I'm hoping for improvement!) I'm certain there are multiple archetypes at play here, however, I can't help but believe they are interconnected ("All is One," "As Above, So Below") in some way that there will be some influence. Is there anything to be said about that or am I in left field admiring dandelions? (Or both?)
I'm curious to receive anyone's thoughts, however, I would prefer and appreciate if they were in the context of Caroline's teachings, as I sometimes struggle with grasping the concepts fully. Thank you in advance. And to you, dear Caroline, blessings and abundance.

Absolutely! All of the achetypes that are falling and waneing are doing so because they were spiritually unsound. The shadow sides were propping up the side seen in the light. The Empire was built on the blood, labor, resources of others--theft and murder, never honoring a contract. The Cosimc Divine will never sustain what goes against Comic Law despite what is acceptable within the ethos of any era. New systems and archetypes are being created from the botttom up and in a more wholisticlly democratic way.

I believe that one of the reasons God has allowed the Dalai Lama, Jimmy Carter, Pope Francis, Patriarch Bartholomew, King Charles, and other great archetypal leaders to live so long is that this transition through the chaos from the old archetypal network to the new will have to be done gradually, otherwise things may end up crashing in a fiery ball of archetypal chaos. While we're still being trained to perceive and recognized who the new archetypal leaders will be, we can still (thank God) hold on to the hand of those gentile guides who came before.

Vera- I was shocked to hear of the fire at Notre Dame, but it was actually a purification, and left most of the important parts such as the rose windows untouched. If I remember correctly, the spire that toppled was added later, and you might say it was not in harmony with the Divine Mother energy there.

Seems odd that as the world is leaning towards feminine, that the next 3 monarchs will be kings... is this the world energy balancing? Meaning did Queen embodied so much divine feminine that balanced the general patriarchy in society and so now with Kings, the opposite will occur? Thinking this is overall probably a good thing. Thoughts on this would be welcome. Thank you

    Nicoló Govoni (9/11/22) :
"I firmly believe that human life, and thus its end, deserves respect, just as human. But death should not make anyone untouchable, not even the rulers. Especially the overseers. This is a picture of Queen Elizabeth in Aden in 1954. In the years following Corona it ruled Southern Yemen, at the same time a British colony, deporting and killing over 200,000 Yemenis to stifle pro-independence motives. Meanwhile, in Kenya, the empire was creating its own concentration camps to extinguish the Mau-Mau rebellion. Few years later, in Nigeria, it participated in the genocide/holocaust of over 3,000,000 Igbo people, so as to prevent Bia's independence fra and protect their oil interests in the region. Meanwhile, as if it wasn't enough, Operation Legacy destroyed evidence of their colonial crimes forever, and Canada approved residential schools guilty of indoctrinating, abusing and murdering hundreds of people. indigenous children through the years. To top it off, the Crown banned ethnic minority workers at Buckingham Palace until the late 1960s. This is also Queen Elizabeth's legacy. A legacy of colonial violence and looting, of racial segregation and institutionalized racism. And that is why, while the entire world celebrates and respects blue blood, it is of another red blood that I want to remember: the blood of the victims. Please remember that Queen Elizabeth was not a residue of colonialism. She was an active part of it."

Great light (how much was real and how much projected remains a question). Unfortunately, she had a much greater shadow ('Sir'Jimmy Savile??? ahem - and too many others to name). If you love truth more than mythology, research her in her actual history. Read first hand accounts of those who suffered via England's heartless colonial rule. 💔 Archetypes, yes... sorry (not sorry) but we can no longer afford to live in projected and disconnected mythology. Is there someone who is living the real Queen archetype? Diana came much closer, imo.

umm... people who identify with archetypes and remain "in" the archetype are no longer in the realm of humanity. There are caught in a complex. As human beings we're called to understand when archetypal energy is working in us, and find a way to stay grounded in our human beingness, to relate to the archetype but not identify with it. Marion Woodman always used to quote Auden, when teaching us about our humanity - learning to be human means loving our brokenness and our limitations, as much as we might strive to "be like the Gods". We are not Gods. We are not Archetypes. We are human. Here's WH Auden's "As I Walked Out One Evening":
".... O look, look in the mirror
    O look in your distress
    Life remains a blessing
    Although you cannot bless
O stand, stand at the window
As the tears scald and start
You shall love your crooked neighbour
    With your crooked heart
It was late, late in the evening
    The lovers, they were gone
The clocks had ceased their chiming
And the deep river ran on."

Every time Charles and Camilla come out to shake people’s hands, the thought in people’s minds will be on the adulterous behavior and painful consequences on an innocent, sweet Princess Diana. We all felt the betrayal personally. The feeling Charles and Camilla will invoke will be much different than the one invoked by Queen Elizabeth’s shake.

I agree with you Caroline about the Queen's archetypal role. While was in London many years ago where I wrote most of my first book Understanding Your Choice, while passing Buckingham Palace , I was "told" that the Queen represented the exoteric High Priestess of the world. Her passing now sets the stage for the Esoteric High Priestess to emerge with an Acquarian emphasis.
