  • Power system operators share many core software needs, but often also require bespoke solutions for their unique operating conditions. In other industries, open source software has been a proven approach for providing transparent and auditable shared building blocks that organizations can freely adapt to their requirements - however, the electricity sector has been somewhat slower to adopt this model. What are the benefits to system operators in collective investments in common software infrastructure, and how can open tools and interfaces help accelerate the deployment of innovation and by extension the energy transition? This webinar will provide a system operator perspective on the value of open source software, the role of an open source program office (OSPO) in an organization, and share experiences from the open source journey at RTE, the French transmission system operator.
    Speaker Bio:
Boris Dolley is the Director of the Open Source Program Office (OSPO) within RTE, the French transmission system operator, and is also in charge of the organization’s Sustainable IT strategy. He is a member of the RTE R&D Management College and the Linux Foundation Energy’s Technical Advisory Council.
