    Great review. It took me 4 1/2 years to get my license back after a brain tumour. (All good now!) I started looking for an S5 back in October 2022. Finally found a 2015 in Daytona Grey, black edition, 1 owner, with 20k on the clock! An absolute steal! Love it! TCU and ECU done 2 weeks ago. Haven’t stopped laughing since!

      Good job! There's 1 good story for about 12 bad stories where the guy overpaid and repairs cost thousands. No one talks about the bad stories unless it's a click-bait UA-cam video where the story is actually a good story.

      @Ky Christell Of the Audis, the S5 is more fun than the older S8. The CTS-V is my favorite though.

    • @terryrutherford2114
      @terryrutherford2114 Рік тому

      @Ky Christell CTS-V comes stock with 556 HP and 550 TQ. Published 0 to 60 in 3.8 seconds, quarter mile in around 12.5 seconds. It's definitely faster than the Audi. That said, there are some tunes that can bring the S5 up to RS5 performance. I feel the CTS-V handles better too. The S5 has some understeer. I will say I trust the all wheel drive much more in slick conditions.

    • @terryrutherford2114
      @terryrutherford2114 Рік тому

      @Ky Christell CTS-V got new front shocks 5 years ago, now needs rear shocks. Has also had all new brakes, including rotors. Also needs lower control arms. Audi needed new receiving box for the convertible top (not cheap) and has a new water pump and thermostat installed. Both are probably about the same for maintenance, but I feel the Audi would be more expensive for repairs, and like my top may require Audi to perform them.

    Great review. The main reason to get the b8.5 s5 (aside from the godly headlights) is the potential of the supercharger. A $1500 tune, pulley and intake upgrade brings this thing to 460 horses and will beat an rs5 off a dig. Crazy potential on the cheap. Nothing can beat the deep growl of that NA RS5 v8, but for the price, the s5 is tough to beat. The only thing that scares me is the long term reliability of the dsg. Ton of problems with those things.

    So, I've owned a 2013 s5 w/7spd dsg for 6 months. I hated a couple things. Theres a jerk when the dsg shifts to 1st prior to a full stop that felt like getting rear ended. The ie dsg tune fixed it. The car felt way too heavy and floaty, making steering feel disconnected which made the car feel less controllable. H&R street coilovers and aodhan aff7 19x9.5 +35 wheels resolved every issue I had with body roll, and the lighter wheel/tire combo made the entire experience worth every penny. Honestly, the car is more comfortable, controllable, planted, and quicker overall, and has way better breaking, slammed 3 inches than it was on stock suspension/ wheels/ tires. Weighed the oem 18s w/ 145/40/18 nitto neo gens at 55.70pds each, and the 19x9.5 aff7s w/145/35/19 nitto neo gens at 44.30pds each. 11 pds per corner less of rotational mass changed EVERYTHING. I also have a stage 1 ie ecu tune which makes it snap necks in s mode. More than enough power for the street imo. The steering feels way better thanks to the cr15 bar in the front, and all understeer the car (had) was resolved with a solid rear sway bar and billet endlinks. The car has a bit of oversteer now which is perfect. Even in the blizzards we had the car was just incredible. In conclusion, I almost regretted my purchase of the car until doing all the suspension mods + the lighter wheels. Can't stress enough how massive a difference the lightweight wheel setup made. If anyone is considering one of these cars, start with wheels/tires/suspension. It is NOT less comfortable, it is more confidence inspiring, and way better looking. The tcu tune will help if you have the dsg clunks stopping like i did. Everything else is secondary imo.

      Did you guys have Dynamic steering(not Audi Drive Select dynamic), sport diff and adaptive damping suspension in your car? I have it in mine combined with 20" wheels 265/30 and I think the car feels pretty planted to the ground compared to others ive driven. Not saying its perfect but dynamic steering reduces the understeering alot and adaptive damping suspension could be stiffer in dynamic mode as in RS but i think it does the job quite good. It is just an S-model after all. Sport diff makes the car feel a little more agile on twisty roads and hard cornering. I do agree on the weight tho and the disconnected feeling of the steering but i guess thats the feeling we are going towards these days? Tbh Dynamic steering doesnt make it better on that point, rather worse but i rather have it than having a car with alot of understeering.

      @@anthonygheysen6579 Dropping rotational mass is incredible for the way your car feels. If you haven't run a significantly lighter set of wheels/tires before, or felt the difference of a really light flywheel, you wouldn't understand. Each pd of rotational mass is noticeable. And I regiment nitto neo gens for anyone. They last, they stick, they're cheap, they're quiet for awhile, they look good, and they can handle snow, and don't slip in rain.

      @JR14Channel  2 роки тому +3

      That’s a very good question. These cars may seem similar but they are very different when it comes down to their driving characteristics. If you are looking for potential performance. Both cars can get very fast but I feel like the BMW you modify cheaper and get more power out of it. The way the car drives also is very good to be honest. Meaning the way it handles. As far as the Audi is concerned, the S5 is definitely nothing to mess with. The S5 can hold its weight to. Meaning that you get this lightening acceleration because of the fact that it’s supercharged and AWD. At the end of the day, it comes down to you and what you are looking for in a car.
