What a beautiful video, fabric and skirt. All three will become heirlooms.

Thanks! I hope that at least one of them would survive. I wear my makes a lot so they get worn out. Luckily this fabric is quite sturdy.

This skirt is lovely. The loom is fascinating (I am an engineer as well) and love older machines for their simplicity, especially enjoyed the punch-card programming, we have come a long way, but the craftsmanship of old was often better than what can be done today.

Thank you and yeah, when the working parts of the machine are cast in iron, they’ll last forever. And these kinds of machines can always be repaired even if some part breaks.

This is an ingenious way of making fabric for many collectively. It was so awesome to see the striping variation program. Your skirt was beautifully done 🪡💙

Love your pattern! So cool. I bet the Merino in there is lovely. Great video, love how you matched the music to the rhythm of the weaving loom. Female engineers ftw!

I'm really interested in that skirt closure but it was hard to tell exactly how it works from the video! I would be really interested to see a tutorial on that, I'm becoming very interested in adjustable skirt closures lately.

This was really nice to see that we still have this kind of things in Finland ❤ I need to keep this in mind if I ever want my own fabric made! I wonder how much it would have cost if you paid for all of that fabric that was made in that batch? It must be quite a lot 😁

Quite a lot and Susanna gave us a discount as this was a special experimental project. :-)

Thank you for this video. I'd really love to learn weaving, but I don't think my brain is up to it lol.
Beautiful skirt, unfortunately in England, we don't seem to have a National costume. Wales does and Scotland have their tartans, it's quite sad.

You’re welcome. The English always followed the fashion more. Finns were pretty poor and far away, so the change was slow. The further back you go, the slower it gets. We were wearing basically Roman style peplos dresses all the way to the medieval times.

@@beeticket Yes, as I was writing my comment I could think of quite a few men's costumes, but not womens. I guess the bowler hat would be quite high along with the Savile Row suit.
