Chen Kun has become my favourite actor of all time! Something about his performance that was so touching. He aslo seems like such a wonderful person in real life
This movie touched me deeply in so many ways. Chen Kun was MAGNIFICENT in this role with so much emotion. I fell in love with him and his character. I saw an interview with Chen and he said Ning Yi was a "drama Queen," which I thought was pretty funny. Their is so much depth to Ning Yi's character and Chen truly brought him to life. It was a GREAT movie, but INCREDIBLY sad. I hope there will be a Season 2 and that it will have more happy moments. The other actors were marvelous as well. I thank the writers, producers, and production company for bringing this great movie to the public.
Yes .... enchanting, charming, adorable, sparkling, heart and soul warming, funny, playful, goofy and not a second boring. All this in addition of being drop dead gorgeous. Hard to resist 😁 But alas, girls, your chances would be zero. If a role partner touches you in such an insouciant manner, pushing you back and forth, shoving you in jest and all that other mischief, it's either because you’re already dating... or because it's clear such a thing will never happen. Wonderful chemistry between them though. It’s palpable how much they do like and trust each other.
I'm so in love with chen kun character. He is so energetic and full of energy in real life 😅😂 . After watching the sad ending of drama I've feel very heartbroken cuz I'm so touched with his acting skills nobody could ran away from his acting skills. Now I've feel relieved because of this video, everyone is happy and having fun with each other while making this drama. Lots of effort and hardwork❤ but not appreciated and nobody talk about this drama. And also Chen Kun looks so stunning in beards.❤
They both , him and her, have charisma, it is therefore played with the natural flavour of love, humour and affection. Opened Chinese drama for myself.
Chen Kun is an iconic actor with a range of masterpieces under his belt. The best was the Painted Skin 1,2 movies, but the Two Phoenixes was a masterpiece too. Every role he plays, he slips totally into this person’s character. I am an admirer of his films and series. Thank you for this behind the scenes.

With his magnificent performance I wouldn’t have thought he had a personality outside of his serious character. He’s actually pretty fun and goofy which makes him all that much more adorable and lovable.
Watching this again after 5 repeats of Rise Phoenixes makes me laugh and enjoy the C-drama all over again. I can not get over how Ning Yi and Wei Shi was marvelous in their roles. It is hauntingly addictive . Wishing for a Season 2, their love story maybe…

Oui, bien sûr ! Mais comme CHEN Kun est tellement beau et adorable, on pardonne tout... Moi, j'ai regardé cette série une quantité incroyable de fois, pour lui surtout, et il est devenu mon acteur préféré, alors qu'au début je ne savais même pas qu'il existait...
Correct, it’s one of the two directors. However, given the carefully chosen cast, where even the villains are charismatic and every pirate has some flair, this guy seems somewhat out of place. My guess is, this was a stopgap. Perhaps this role is inserted much later, as it damages the architecture of the whole story. If a Dacheng Prince exists, the plot about Zhiwei as the "last heir" makes zero sense. Was that because of the censors' intervention? Rumor has it that the plot had to be hastily rewritten, even some reshooting was necessary. So in a pinch, the co-director took over that role? Endless curiosity... without this prince, what could’ve brought Zhiwei into the major conflict with Ning Yi? Could she possibly have rebelled herself and fought for Dacheng?? The censors apparently removed prominent scenes from Ep 22 (fight with the crown prince) in which Zhiwei threatens Ning Yi with a sword. Short snippets of it appear in later flashbacks. Seems they didn't like too strong a female character and likewise no fight from the female lead against the higher ranking state representative? That would at least make it seem possible for Zhiwei to be also more active and aggressive in the latter part of the plot. This is wild speculation... but I really would’ve liked to know about the original intended story.
@@stellasonabilis9884 Wow, indeed a wild card, that guy. Yes, with him being alive, she couldn't possibly be the last survivor now, could she ? But to me the story had gone awry when she was married off to Helian & moved to the northern region.
@@naleenidas7734 FZW marrying Helian is even taken from the original novel. But her motivation is different there (& more coherent IMO). In the novel, Zhiwei mistakenly believes Ning Yi being behind her family’s arrest, therefore responsible for their deaths. Devastated, she decides to break up with him, sitting alone in the snow and burying her feelings in it (an impressive, sad scene). Then she instantly leaves for Jinshi. Ning Yi arrives too late, she has already left. They don’t see each other for a long time. Then Ning Yi comes to Pucheng to rescue her, working incognito as a servant in slave-like conditions. He endures branding (!) and a beating for it. After the great flood (as in the drama), she is unwilling to go with him. It leads to a situation where she almost shoots NY with an arrow, but throws away the bow and tries to commit suicide instead. Gu Nanyi rescues her. She returns to the capital, but it takes a long time for the two to gradually grow closer again. It happens mainly thanks to Ning Yi’s patient efforts. Ofc, there ist no other Dacheng prince in the novel.

From abt ep 60, the rise of the phoenix wernt downhill, in my opinion. The narrative didn't make any sense with so many random killings, seriously :)

Correct, it’s one of the two directors.
However, given the carefully chosen cast, where even the villains are charismatic and every pirate has some flair, this guy seems somewhat out of place.
My guess is, this was a stopgap. Perhaps this role is inserted much later, as it damages the architecture of the whole story. If a Dacheng Prince exists, the plot about Zhiwei as the "last heir" makes zero sense.
Was that because of the censors' intervention?
Rumor has it that the plot had to be hastily rewritten, even some reshooting was necessary.
So in a pinch, the co-director took over that role?
Endless curiosity... without this prince, what could’ve brought Zhiwei into the major conflict with Ning Yi?
Could she possibly have rebelled herself and fought for Dacheng??
The censors apparently removed prominent scenes from Ep 22 (fight with the crown prince) in which Zhiwei threatens Ning Yi with a sword. Short snippets of it appear in later flashbacks. Seems they didn't like too strong a female character and likewise no fight from the female lead against the higher ranking state representative?
That would at least make it seem possible for Zhiwei to be also more active and aggressive in the latter part of the plot.
This is wild speculation... but I really would’ve liked to know about the original intended story.
@@stellasonabilis9884 Wow, indeed a wild card, that guy. Yes, with him being alive, she couldn't possibly be the last survivor now, could she ? But to me the story had gone awry when she was married off to Helian & moved to the northern region.

But her motivation is different there (& more coherent IMO).
In the novel, Zhiwei mistakenly believes Ning Yi being behind her family’s arrest, therefore responsible for their deaths. Devastated, she decides to break up with him, sitting alone in the snow and burying her feelings in it (an impressive, sad scene). Then she instantly leaves for Jinshi. Ning Yi arrives too late, she has already left.
They don’t see each other for a long time. Then Ning Yi comes to Pucheng to rescue her, working incognito as a servant in slave-like conditions. He endures branding (!) and a beating for it.
After the great flood (as in the drama), she is unwilling to go with him. It leads to a situation where she almost shoots NY with an arrow, but throws away the bow and tries to commit suicide instead. Gu Nanyi rescues her.
She returns to the capital, but it takes a long time for the two to gradually grow closer again. It happens mainly thanks to Ning Yi’s patient efforts.
Ofc, there ist no other Dacheng prince in the novel.
This was realistic but I didn't like the end. They should have found happiness.
