I've been playing lap steel for about 40 years and this tuning is blowing my mind. Luke, you have given me some new life in my musical path. Many thanks.
Really wonderful Luke. This is like finger picking (which I love) for the lap steel. Please post more of your playing just like this here on your channel for us all. Really nice Luke. Keep it up man.
I have this same model in white. Friggin gorgeous. Wish the lows responded a bit better but I love it. My first steel. Been watching a ton of your videos and really find your playing inspiring. It’s not all the same country and Hawaiian riffs. More fingerstyle informed, which is big for me too.
I've tuned my Peavy Power Slide and a Fender Telecaster to this tuning and I've been playing this song live between sets for the past 8 months. Crowds LOVE it.
Lovely playing. I own a doubleneck version of your Supro lap steel, same chocolate-swirl finish, but apparently two necks aren't necessarily better than one, and yours sounds better. I wonder why that is?🤔 The pickups on these old Supros and Valco's are phenomenal; I'd really love to try a cloned PU from Lollar, if they're any good, and maybe build myself a CooderCaster.
Luke a great presentation. Just starting out on Lap Steel after 50+ years on 6 string. Studying C6 tuning but this will make me get another steel for your DAEAC#E tuning - lots of beautiful options! Is this your original song or is it available in print (note and/or tab)? Thanks for sharing - Bo Baker
Hey Luke love your stuff. I'm a new follower. Got a question...would it be possible to install a multibender on one of these??? Looking to find one I can install one on and can't quite afford a 2000 buck dusen
The Duisenberg benders require a fair bit of clearance behind the bridge to install, which a lot of lap steels don't have. It would be possible to install on a model with this kind of construction; www.premierguitar.com/articles/28299-quick-hit-asher-electro-hawaiian-junior-lap-steel-review though its much easier if the instrument has a fleet ( as opposed to arched) top. S www.redtapemusic.biz
Are you buffering the output at all somehow? I recently picked up a similar Supro and the pickup is really gritty. It's not terrible but Yours sounds super clean by comparison...Great video!
Nice sound (and claddagh ring!) ... You must have the Irish musical gene ... ? ;) Is that a vintage Princeton Reverb, and is that just amp reverb I can hear? Sounds great, through an e609 (I think?). Beautiful work, keep it up! Cheers! (or should I say Sláinte?! :) Be well, K
No I think they're just well broken in round wounds. I've never heard of flats on a lap steel. (Not that it wouldn't be possible I've just never heard of it.)
Oh cool I didn't know that flats on a lap steel was a thing. Oh and, according to a couple comments including one by the uploader the tuning is DAEAC#E. Hope that helps.
This is just amazing! I have a quick question: What string brand, type and gauge are you using on that Supro? I just picked up an English Tonemaster similar to this. I am a newbie but was curious if you are using flat wound or round wound and gauge. Thanks so much in advance!
I get the standard D'Addario electric strings in 56 46 36 26w 18 16. I buy individual strings, but I'm sure you can find very similar sets too. Thank you!
@@lukecyrus I'm old and now slower....my fingers don't work so well anymore. I've spent decades listening to guitar players and can't do it myself anymore....but when I listen and watch you play the steel it makes me want to try playing in some shape, way or form. I know you love it because of the straight forward way you play. Thanks for encouraging me and showing me your steel section. Keep em' coming...I'll keep listening.

absolutely perfect. i think i'll make this as my alarm wake up song.
Don't Everyone hates their alarm song, but even then it would be hard not to hate this song.
That sounds amazing! Keep it up!
It's amazing how much You can get playing on lap steel, which has so many limitations. Respect.
Thank you very much! ☺️
Really nice. Wow.
What a beautifull sounding lap steel, thanks for posting.
Smooth.
Is this the same song you played in the “Getting Big Sounds from the Danelectro” video? Beautiful

Amazing...
I've tripped over your channel looking for cool lap steel tunes to play for my son (he found one of mine in a closet)
Very very nice!!!!
wow. This is good stuff. I would have thought many instruments did this.
Lovely stuff Luke.
I want to sing to your tunes, so badly.
New Age Supro.
Gave my son two Rogue resophonic guitars to sell and he returned one (the round neck) plus a Supro just like this. Nice surprise!
You, sir. Play like an angel. A goddam angel
Beautiful playing and tone! I guess it's time to buy a Lap Steel and try this tuning!
this would make a beautiful worship song. are there lyrics to this?
Seven strings ! Great rendition .
Nice work Luke, you are a master. What is the tuning used?
Tuning please! Sounds great!
DAEAC#E
Toby
That tuning does sound really good
I've tuned my Peavy Power Slide and a Fender Telecaster to this tuning and I've been playing this song live between sets for the past 8 months. Crowds LOVE it.
@@tobyallred4413 Wonder if that would work on my Weissenborn? Gonna try it right now.
Beautiful, Do you have room to install benders on that rig? Well now that I think of it , you don't need to. I forgot you already have a Dues....

That is a Princeton reissue. Thanks!
❤️
What tuneing you play in most the time
Hey Luke. Amazing played! What's the tuning? I hope you can answer me :)
This is so fucking beautiful. chickenskin music

Damn ,sharp clean tone , what's that tuning ?
Continue wanting more 🎋
Can you teach me to play man you are the best
That wide angle lens is freaking me out. Looks like a bent lap steel. But your playing is great.
Beautiful! Gauge strings?
Whoa martin simpson on a lap slide!
Gibt es ne CD von dir? Kauf ich sofort.
😊💛😊
You are a master on the lap steel! What tuning are you using? What tuning do you use the most?
Reminds me of Bon Iver

Thanks Kieren! The Princeton is new, but has few little mods. The mic is a e906, and the reverb you're hearing is a Strymon Flint. Cheers!!
Absolutely beautiful! What tuning are you using on your steel?
That was beautiful...is it standard open D tuning? or??
Luke, can you mention which string gauges you use for this tuning?
Nice. Do you use your nails?
are they flat wound strings? also what tuning? great!1!
No I think they're just well broken in round wounds. I've never heard of flats on a lap steel. (Not that it wouldn't be possible I've just never heard of it.)
I’ve got flat wounds on my magnatone ( the same set for about 15 years - haha ) still sounds great / what tuning is this?
Oh cool I didn't know that flats on a lap steel was a thing. Oh and, according to a couple comments including one by the uploader the tuning is DAEAC#E. Hope that helps.
tuning please ??
Lo to Hi: D A E A C# E. As a chord it would be A+4
Tuning?
Tuning - please, please, please!
Hey Barry, the tuning is: (low to high) DAEAC#E
Thanks. That is so beautiful man. Keep the videos coming!

Thanks Luke! Do you get chromes, steel or nickel? Are they round wound?
Zolli Creative just the standard nickel roundwounds. They work fine for me.
Thank you so much!
More steel less guitar....
