I have a 98 Century Limited, leather interior. Love it, I put 231,000 miles on it before the engine gave out. Found a used engine and trans with only 60,000 miles, threw them in there, and she’s going strong again! Just went up and down the east coast with it. It’s a GREAT road trip car if you use good touring tires. The electronics can get finicky with age, but then again so do I. I agree with you about the “mushy” look - great way to characterize it.
This is my first car, I've had it for 5 years and it was a gift from my grandma. I agree it's not super nice or fancy or anything but damn is it reliable and cheap to fix when something goes wrong. I just got the catalytic converter replaced for $405 parts and service. One time I got a bunch of leaks fixed for $500. Another time I got a part for a speedometer fixed for 80$. One time the odometer light went out, so I did some research and was able to fix it by soldering a few resistors on the board for like less than 2$, that was years ago and it still works. Other then that, i had to replace the windshield (it was already chipped when I got it), and some normal stuff here and there like new tires, battery, etc. The window motors are failing but I probably wont replace them. So basically the cost over these last 5 years has been super low. The damn thing paid for itself though when I got rear ended one time and hit in a parking lot another, collected $1,300 in insurance money. If you don't care about cars that much and only want cheap reliable transportation, I can't think of anything better. You can probably pick one up on facebook marketplace for like a grand or two and you're all set
@@kauffcole I have a 1998 Buick century, passed down through multiple people in the family, around 200,000 miles and mine runs great. Blew a head gasket a while back but my grandpa fixed it and it runs fine. Sometimes if I stop and don’t come to a complete stop and try to accelerate again it kind of skips I guess is the only way to describe it. But I used to go 90 on my way to school in the morning and never had an issue
I have a 2005 Buick century with less than 100k miles and have been using it for a couple years now. It was also a gift from my grandparents. I would agree these cars are cheap to maintain. I have to replace the driver-side window motors now since they failed on me, but that is like $100 for both the driver and rear. The ride is smooth, albeit rather slow. Roomy interior for a sedan and like the video said the seats are comfortable. I plan on driving it for as long as possible.
Bought a 98 Century with 48k miles for 3 grand a few years ago for a spare knock-around driver. I call it, "The Couch". A pleasure to drive; it seems to drive itself down the road. No better ride on a road trip with 30mpg attainable if you do it right. Cheap and easy to maintain. Not many people know how reliable and economical these Buicks can be . . . but we owners sure do.
The thing about the Buick Century, is that for what it offered, it was an excellent value if you wanted that slight step up in size, comfort, and power than a smaller car such as a cavalier. Also, everything just worked on them....they just did their job. Roomy trunk, big enough door openings to jam stuff into the back seat, versatile front seat, an engine that would run forever (after the coolant leak fix), front wheel drive good in snow, easy to repair..... The Century is an excellent, dependable daily driver, with just a little extra. It made a perfect entry level "luxury" car, and if you wanted a bigger better one, get the Regal.
Too bad regal stopped offering the front bench seats and column shifter at this generation. So I would go with Century. Personally I like how the name sounds better too. But then you loose out on the 3.8 engine. 3.1 is good too from what I hear other than the coolant leak issue.
I had a 2002 century as my first car and still have it almost 3 years later. The car was nothing to write home about but it was a good dependable car even at 160k. I will say that while the car may not have been anything spectacular, as a first car it did make me want another buick of the era as a daily driver as the ride was so smooth and comfortable. All and all it is a good car maybe not too special in the grand scheme of things but special to the people who drive them.
@@shanewestphal7986 so update my cars dead it overheated and the head gasket blew and motors toast. The sleeping giant waiting on every 3,000 series v6
I got a white 2000 Buick century custom with no grill , a red stripe on the trunk and a horseshoe screwed to the rear bumper and I actually love the car it’s a really comfortable daily
I've had this car since I started driving 6 years ago. I love this car. It is exactly as you describe it; nothing too special, but reliable and comfortable. Super dependable and a fan favorite among my friends.
Best cheap driver for the money! Just bought one with low miles and definitely agree with everything in the review but the best parts are it feels like a cloud and very efficient in gas for the 3100!
This was my first car in high school and I pretty much completely mirror your thoughts on it. It was comfy, it was roomy, but.... it was just sorta - there. Nothing special about it. Was unassuming on the outside and just ‘good’ on the inside compared to other cars of the similar years. Hated that it didn’t have a tach on the dash though. It was an 01 Custom in Grandma Beige and I ended up getting rid of it after I got it to pass emissions by some miracle.
It's what you'd call an 'OK' car. Like, if I'm in my 50's and I just want a decent-looking car I'd get this one if the price is right. It doesn't attract attention but it looks good
I still drive a '99 Buick Century that we bought for my son to use during HS & College. What I like about it is the incredibly smooth ride and the seats are like sitting on a sofa. The 3.1 gets pretty good gas mileage and the engine / transmission is heavy enough that I drive it through the snow all the time and it gets around great. You are absolutely correct though, it's very "plain" and nothing about it stands out, it really is a very simple mode of transportation. People ask me all the time why I don't upgrade and honestly it's because there's nothing wrong with the car and other than tires and a fuel pump at 100K we haven't done anything to it. The insurance is next to nothing and so is the licensing fee so I hate to get rid of it for no good reason at all. The engine bay is pretty large as well so replacing the plugs, wires, and other basic maintenance is really pretty easy. I look forward to seeing how many miles I can put on it before it craps out.
Got one for free as it was my GFs old car, great daily driver. The only thing bold is how vertical the grill is and the huge rear tail lights. Wish those would make a comeback.
I inherited a 2003 Buick Century Custom a few months ago. It was abused & neglected for the past 3 years and needed a lot of refurbishing and maintenance. It was ready for the junk heap literally, but when I inherited this it only had 48,000 miles. So the work began: Paint correction, major interior restoration, mechanically brought up to date, and windshield had to be replaced. I’m amazed at the comfort level of the car and it has become my daily driver in place of my 2 Mercedes. I love, love my Mercedes, but they are firm rides. I can see why older people drive these. And FYI, these Centuries are chick magnets….85 year old chick magnets! You’re review was great and unbiased.
I bought a ‘99 Buick Century with 81,000 miles in June of this year. I needed something with low miles to be my daily driver to work and school. I agree with you that there’s nothing special about this car. The engine is meh, and it really bugs me that there’s no RPM gauge on the dash (first car I’ve ever encountered that lacked this), but it’s a comfy ride that gets me from point A to point B. The AC and heat is also spectacular on mine, which is great for northern Minnesota winters. The biggest thing that I can praise this car for is it kept me safe when I hit a deer at 55mph this summer. The only damage to the car was a busted headlight assembly, a dent in the hood, and a scratch on the windshield from the deer’s hoof when it slid up onto it. If I would’ve been driving a smaller sedan with a shorter hood I can almost guarantee that deer would’ve come right through the windshield and into the car.
I have a 91 Buick century that was owned by a mechanic. He ordered it new with no motor in it because of the head gasket problem the 3.1 liter has. He built a 3.3 liter engine with a metal head and also put an inline transmission filter and a shift kit. This car is now 30 years old and still runs just as good as it did when new. I’d trust this car to go anywhere.
I Love my Grandfather's 2001 Buick Century Runs Like a Top Well Maintained! There Cars Are Tanks And Can Go Up 2 500,000 Miles If U Look After them! And They Don't Make Them Like They use 2! They Are Bullet Proof Un Killable!
I love my 2000 Buick Century! It doesn't score me any brownie points with the ladies but I don't have a car payment. I live in Atlanta and car insurance is super costly here. I pay 74 dollars a month. Not bad. I got the car with 57k on it from an old lady who gave up here license. I paid 3 grand. Car was garage kept. I had to change the intake gasket. Fixing anything on this car is cheap and easy. I installed a double din stereo with GPS and stock speakers are pretty good. I like the dark green paint job. Popped the hub caps off. Plastic dipped the steel rims black. Got black lug nuts off of amazon for cheap. Think I want to tint and put rain guards on the windows. I won't win any races, but I can keep up no problem. Gas mileage isn't bad. Ice cold AC. Very comfortable car. It'll never be a head turner but that's okay with me. Def don't look like a POS either. This car is all about saving money. Great daily driver!
Ya know I’m looking for a daily winter car and I found a Buick Century Custom for sale and I really wanted to learn more about them. I came across this video and wasn’t expecting much (no offense) but to my surprise it was a damn good video! I really enjoyed watching it! Keep up the good work!
There was a sporty, more interesting version. The regal. It shared the same platform along with other parts. The regal was supposed to be "sportier" with more features than the century. It is so obvious to me that this car was designed for fleet sales. It was a comfortable, basic appliance made for someone who didn't care about bells or whistles. It's unfair to expect anything more from this car as it was never designed to be anything more than basic and functional. I always thought that 3.1 felt more like 140 horsepower. Very lethargic engine indeed, especially compared to the 3.8.
Still have my 2003 Buick Century. Bought it at 150k from a graduated college student, and it’s so awesome. My friends and family always get a kick out of it, so it definitely has come up in dinner conversations. Mostly joking about it, haha. The seats in the front definitely feel different as opposed to an ubiquitous sedan, even if it’s newer.
Bought a new Chevrolet Lumina in 1991 and drove it until I retired in 2012. It was powered by the 3.1 liter V6 and it was the best car I have ever owned. Never any issues with that 3.1 liter engine. Great on gas, never failed to start after sitting outside in life threatening temperatures.
I love this car and here's why. I was making a road trip through 8 or so States in a huge circle, and somehow got upgraded to the Century. We had owned large GM cars before, Caprice, LeSabre, etc. And this car is what I'd call basic or Simple Luxury. It has all the basics that you need in a luxury car, and nothing else. The styling in profile is shockingly similar to the Mercedes S Class of the same year. The interior is simple, but with smooth, pleasing shapes. All controls are simple, where you expect them, and function well. Large gauges tell you what you need to know without silly distractions like a tachometer in an autoptic, totally unnecessary to be honest. As you noted, the wide bench seats are soft and comfortable. I drove long 12 hour days with no problem, no discomfort, unlike today's hard "supportive" seats that make you feel beat up after a few hours on the super slab. I'm not driving t rough slaloms here, no need for that kind of nonsense in a road cruiser. It was quiet, roomy up front, soft riding, easy to drive and fuel efficient, all perfect for my 5 day tour of half of America. I loved this car. If only they had made a coupe version, I would have bought one. (this was at a time when 4 doors indicated a family car, and two doors make for easier access and visibility, but styling benefits.) The car, although not big, had a HUGE trunk, and lovely finger-light steering, again, everything you NEED in a luxury car, with none of the extras that you forget about after the "wow" factor wears off. What a solid idea, and GM should do it again. Affordable, "right sized", smooth, handsome without being obnoxious, reliable, capable, efficient... I can't think of anything bad about it. I even found the horsepower plenty enough to maintain high speeds in western states with 80mph speeds, and through the Rockies, NO problem. No, it won't win a race. I don't want to win races. I just need enough power for the car to feel responsive, and get where I need to go. the 3800 would have been icing on the case, but honestly I didn't miss it. After turning it back in and getting in my 91 Caprice, I couldn't help but notice how well the Century adopted, and approved upon many of those traditional luxury traits, in a trimmer and more modern package. Give me bench seat or give me deash lol! Thanks for this review. I know it's not a car many people lust over, but it is a car that all most would ever need and check all the boxes of traditional comfort and luxury at an affordable price.
I love this body style like I said I have had mine since 2014, it's now 2024 so 10 years not 14 years like I mistakingly said before. But I love it I'll have it probably the rest of my life!!
Bought a 00 Buick century from an Elderly Lady with not one problem, drove it everyday until I earned enough for my home. I’ll never get rid of this thing. Great review every thing you said was factually true.
I had a 2003 in terrible cosmetic shape that my uncle sold to me when I was going through a difficult time. I’d drive one again in a heartbeat. An actual beater and it was unbelievably comfortable and smooth.
Great review! My Dad just gave me his 2001 Buick Century Limited (yup, there actually IS an up trim level!) but I think you nailed the essence of this car - I call it "The Toaster" as it is not really a car, it's a transportation appliance. Yet it is a great toaster - It rides and performs quite well, you just don't notice it. Thanks again!
Aftermarket player I don’t like in there, I’ve got the original and although the cassette don’t work the settings are worth keeping, ‘manual’ ‘class’ ‘talk’ and ‘rock’ and the signal is very clear and sounds good
there has been a century in my family since 99, my grandparents took pretty good care of it, I completely agree that the century is not a drivers car, its more of a relatively reliable and relatively comfortable GM sedan, that will get eaten alive by rust if it even looks at the Midwest.
I drive a 93 Buick Century it's body style is the A-body predecessor to this one. It was used from 1982-1996 and had literally a 14 year run on the same body platform. Even though mine is a 93 it looks like something straight out of the 80s interior and all. It's a small but comfortable car about like this one but absolutely nothing stands out about it either. Aside from the fact they made them nearly the same for so many years. When I was a kid in the 90s it was also hard to turn a corner without seeing an A-body Buick Century. I think they are the closest thing we Americans ever had to a beetle.
1974 to 77 Buick Century I think you would really like to own. My first brand new car was the '77 Regal which really was the same as the Century, and I loved it. Give it a look.
I paid $500 for my 2000 Century last summer from my elderly neighbor. Its been one of the best cars ive had. It hasn't needed any major work in the year ive had it. It does need a transmission sylenoid. Seems alot of Buick's had issues with them, mine drives fine in town. But if i adventure far, then the trans starts shifting hard. It rides great. The seats are super comfortable. The springs in the drivers seat blew out though. So i have to use a pillow. Only a few little issues. Better than paying 500 a month for a new car.
I have an absolutely Mint 1997 Buick Century limited with 125,000km on it with the 3.1. It's wildly quiet, Runs like a Top and takes me from A to B safely. Was mostly garaged. Body is in excellent Excellent condition, the interior is off the lot new. Very very little rust. None of the rust is pitted. I have lots of rust on the front lower control arms, I will replace them this spring. I plan on replacing the intake manifold gaskets because they are notorious for allowing coolant past them. Car does not like to be driven hard. Unlike my 97 Sunfire Coupe Which loves to have the shiit beaten out of it. Anyways I think it's a great 6 sister sedan!
first car was a 2000 buick century. my grandmother bought it brand new and took good care of it, when she could no longer drive my uncle drove it over 100 miles a day for a couple years with out doing any oil changes or maintenance, i got the car from him after that and did a full tune up and drove it for a couple years until i gave it to my mom with about 250k miles on it. she then sold it to a guy a couple years later and as far as i know its still on the road. its a very basic car but it is extremely reliabe in my opinion. so much so i just bought another as a second vehicle
I had one exactly like this one. It was my grandfathers car. I inherited after he passed and I loved it even tho nothing worked electronically wise hahaha but that thing kept running
This is a certified hood classic. Lol if you couldn't get your hands on a crown Vic, a Monte Carlo, an Impala, or a Cadillac, this is what you get. I got one right now lol I don't know how many times I've been pulled over. We call it the dope man's car. All jokes aside, it's a good car. I bought it recently from this elderly woman who's had it since it came out. And it only had 134 thousand miles on it. Replaced the spark plugs the IAC the throttle body and coil packs and all the filters. Still runs brand new.
I bought 2001 century custom with 31k miles yes drives superb and it is a great cruiser. Acceleration is slow and obsolete but it is enough to pass. Unfortunately have check engine soon light, replaced selenoid valve and look for other reason
Buick engines of that era are actually very reliable...the 3800 and 3100 are probably the 2 best engines money can buy...easy to work on...cheap parts..no not a corvette engine, but if you have common sense and are mechanically inclined...you know
I LOVE MY 2000 BUICK CENTURY. I CONSISTENTLY GET 27 TO 28 MPG. IT TURNS VERY SHARP, "ON A DIME". VERY DEPENDABLE, CHEAP TO FIX. SEATS ARE VERY COMFORTABLE. IF YOU HAVE THE HARD SHIFT PROBLEM, HERE IS WHY AND HOW TO FIX FOR CHEAP. IT HAPPENS WHEN THE TRANSMISSION GET HOT, THENTHE SOLONIDE GETS STUCK. THEREFORE, YOU NEED TO KEEP IT COOLED. THE FIX, JUST REPLACE THE STOCK RADIATOR WITH AN AFTERMARKET TRIPLE CORE ALL ALUM, AND WHEN DRIVING KEEP THE SPEED 40 MPH AND OVER FOR AIR FLOW.
I’m stuck between a super clean 03vibe right at 96km or a 04 century 56km both are around $6400 otd but the vibe has slight steering issue stiff pulls right and wheel doesn’t center slight to right, the suspension looks fine but it’s concerning good daily’s are hard to find nowadays
Eh. It's a FINE car. Never had a spot in history that's grandiose, but I love the big floating boat effect, kinda like the the Chevy Caprice Classic. .....Yeah, I just bought a pristine 2001 Century for $600... Studded tires on rims in addition to the all seasons that were on it. Little coolant leak I gotta track down, but that's cake. Interior is immaculate, and exterior has a few TINY rock chip marks in the front. Decent power, and smooth shifting. I love it.
I have a 1998 Buick century limited and I absolutely LOVE my car. I don’t want to get a new car because my seats are so comfortable😂😭 I just wish my leather had been better taken care of in it’s early years.
My dad bought this car when I was 2 years old in 2005 and kept it until 2011 so it was the first car I remember my dad having, I love this car, it was the same color as this one it was a very smooth ride i got a lot of memories with it, and let me tell u something it's way more comfortable than all these new cars.
I have a 2003 Buick Regal LS. Nearly identical car, but has the non-supercharged 3800. It's a bland car, but it's soooooooooo comfy and solid on the road at any speed.
My grandma had this exact car except hers was light sandrift metallic and she bought it used. She drove that century for 10 years and then the computer started having issues, and she tried to get it fixed but no one could fix it, idk if it was bc of limited availability for parts but she sold it. and when she sold it, it had 130-135,000 original miles o n it
they century is a great work car or small family for some that can't get a camry for 5k they can get a nice century for 3k and they run forever and a stupid cheap to fix.
Dude, it's a freaking CAR, not some sort of extra sensory experience! We had a '98 Century and while I agree it's more bland than exciting, it was probably the most comfortable vehicle we've ever owned. Went on several long distance road trips and it was like sitting in an easy chair. Gas mileage was great too. Only problem was the intake manifold gasket which eventually gets replaced in EVERY GM 3.1L car.
I only bought mine to use as a mail car. If you like boring cars, this is the car for you. You can barely tell the engine is running and I have never seen one pulled over by the police.
My parents had one of these as a kid and remember them being so comfortable and I’m looking for an older comfortable cruiser because my car is too harsh for daily driving. Would you recommend getting a different Buick?
Similiar to a Crown vic you say? I dont think so my friend. You can not compare Ride quality of FWD VS RWD Especially a full size crown vic. You should go over some city Manhole covers and decaying road bumps, then compare.
I have a 1999 and really like it. Probably my biggest complaint is the placement of the odometer is too low for me to see and it seems to only have five digits.
The gas tank is like 60 I think which is good for longer distances but I keep gas gauge at half (30) so it’s lighter. The seats are automatic (cool for the time made) and the heater and sound is okay, I like the radio in it and the lights. While it’s a six seater, I love the middle console and it as storage so I can have more floor storage. and the front stick makes no gear shift there. leg room in back lol ain’t good but as new driver I put my school bag in there, no cup holder for coffee so I get the cardboard cup holders. I like to shampoo this car and barely ever need to wash it or use chemicals on it. The lights inside click on with turning it and the daylight running lights are automatic and the inner lights turn off once door locked and the outer lights you pull the light adjuster out and in again and they turn off (car must be off tho) the radio concert sound is nice and the settings “talk” “class” are my favourite, they have had buick century’s since 1930’s and my dad had the Buick wildcat
What he said about wanting to go back and find the ideal Buick ‘century’ made since 30’s is fair, the 1989 looks good. The shape of this gives ‘shying away’ however it’s longer than a Honda or such which I like
The new GMC fluids fix the older issues of head gaskets being prone to overheating and with windows, get new window motor and fuses, which are accessible from passenger side
I did replace the callipers, rotors, brake lines, pads, master cylinder and brake fluid but that’s cause the person before me left it for a while, the battery also got replaced and the window motor and I’m doing A/C this summer, insuring it was cheap and most parts and labour are easy for it
Use baking soda with the seats then hand vacuum, get a sorter for the back and the trunk, lots of space back there and a built in net for keeping groceries from sliding around (which makes sense since it’s really large and fits a lot inside)
If you come to Europe, make sure to tell us, I'm sure there are hundreds of people on the other side of the ocean that want you to review their cars (me included)
I have a 2000 Buick century custom with a landau top with 173000 miles on it has a issue jolting when your accelerating had the transmission filter replaced mechanic told me there is nothing wrong with the transmission hopefully something minor
How much was it? The 2000 century was my family's first car and I developed a respect for it even though it was a pretty beat up car that my parents changed quickly. Now in my mid 20s I want to buy one for myself even if it's a mid car mainly because it's cheap but also because I kinda like it, though it needs some form of height elevation from what I remembered.
Hey I have a 2000 Buick century with no lights on the dash. Just out of no where once the car is warmed up an running it will cut off out of no where. I will have to wait 5-10mins for it to start again. It will run for a little bit before it cuts off again
yes. these motors run hot. ive had it happen on both 3.1 and 3.4 engines. it should hold. if it starts to overheat then you might wanna look at gaskets
The best Century is not a Toyota Century, it's a Buick Century. Just like the best Continental is not a Lincoin Continental, it's a Bentley Continental!
I agree the Buick century was not as good of a car as it should be. My parents only one and it kind of reminded me of a car somebody would drive after they got divorced and lost everything.
I have to disagree with your assessment of the Buick Century. As an owner of a 2003 Buick Century I can attest to its many benefits. Sure, the Buick Century is economical and a fantastic ride. More importantly, the Buick Century is a license to do what you want on the roads. Other drivers assume you are a senior, giving you the benefit of the doubt in most situations. Going slow on a residential street? Fine, nobody beeps at a Buick. Cut someone off changing lanes? Not a problem. Also expected from a Buick. Want to rob a bank? Perfect getaway car. Drive 90mph down main street. Cops don't stop Buicks. Not a senior? No problem, just wear a grey hair wig and throw a knitted blanket in the back window for extra insurance.
I have a 2003 Buick Century, I love it and all.. But my damn brights are a bitch. I'll turn them on then 2 minutes all my lights turn off. Maybe doing something wrong.
Hey was it like 3-4 grand to buy the set and labor? Hear those are expensive jobs.
I must admit i liked your review i saw a young kid wasnt expecting much but u did good keep up the good work your channel will grow
This is my first car, I've had it for 5 years and it was a gift from my grandma. I agree it's not super nice or fancy or anything but damn is it reliable and cheap to fix when something goes wrong.
Are oil leaks on these expensive?
How did it go down the highway at like 60-70 mph

You got that right. I went from Los Angeles to San Diego and back on half a tank in my 03 Regal.
I like them because they are like compact front wheel drive modern versions of the traditional Buicks of the past.
The thing about the Buick Century, is that for what it offered, it was an excellent value if you wanted that slight step up in size, comfort, and power than a smaller car such as a cavalier. The Century is an excellent, dependable daily driver, with just a little extra. It made a perfect entry level "luxury" car, and if you wanted a bigger better one, get the Regal.
Or better yet, get a LeSabre!
A touch of luxury.
lmao mine leaked coolant too but we got it fixed
Too bad regal stopped offering the front bench seats and column shifter at this generation. So I would go with Century. Personally I like how the name sounds better too. But then you loose out on the 3.8 engine. 3.1 is good too from what I hear other than the coolant leak issue.

I will say that while the car may not have been anything spectacular, as a first car it did make me want another buick of the era as a daily driver as the ride was so smooth and comfortable. All and all it is a good car maybe not too special in the grand scheme of things but special to the people who drive them.
274,xxx on mine and she's running like crap but a few cheap parts some plugs she'll be running good

@@michaelsartor7960 damn dude, sorry to hear. How many miles did you get it to?
I got a white 2000 Buick century custom with no grill , a red stripe on the trunk and a horseshoe screwed to the rear bumper and I actually love the car it’s a really comfortable daily
mr randy I would love to see that
I've had this car since I started driving 6 years ago.
Watching videos like these make me really miss my Buick Century
It's what you'd call an 'OK' car. Like, if I'm in my 50's and I just want a decent-looking car I'd get this one if the price is right. It doesn't attract attention but it looks good

@@ShootingCars thanks, bro. Nice review btw. Keep it up and keep on trying to do better.
Top notch reveiw. Reminds me of a young John Davis from Motorweek review. Informative, candid, real and honest. The channel needs more subscribers.
RPM gauge is fine for a sports car but not a normal family car.
My grandparents have a drift sand metallic 2000 Buick Century
I absolutely love all your thoughts in your reviews about the cars - the way you "think" about them and all that. Just great words always - love it!
The engine in them was fine they were not a race car and were smooth. Not as nice an engine as a V8 luxury engine.
I personally feel this was a sharp car on the outside compared to the blobby Lesabre.
I have this and I like this car a lot
Really they're are great car's, and made for the Highway, I have one with 14867 miles
(this was at a time when 4 doors indicated a family car, and two doors make for easier access and visibility, but styling benefits.)
The car, although not big, had a HUGE trunk, and lovely finger-light steering, again, everything you NEED in a luxury car, with none of the extras that you forget about after the "wow" factor wears off.
I know it's not a car many people lust over, but it is a car that all most would ever need and check all the boxes of traditional comfort and luxury at an affordable price.
.....Call me nostalgic but I love 90's-Early 2ks radios
I love this body style like I said I have had mine since 2014, it's now 2024 so 10 years not 14 years like I mistakingly said before. But I love it I'll have it probably the rest of my life!!
Hey man , you r one of the best reviewer on the tube. I watch review daily and you r the bomb brother. Thanks my man.
Bought a 00 Buick century from an Elderly Lady with not one problem, drove it everyday until I earned enough for my home. I’ll never get rid of this thing. Great review every thing you said was factually true.
I have a 2001 Buick century and I love the car
I had a 2003 in terrible cosmetic shape that my uncle sold to me when I was going through a difficult time. I’d drive one again in a heartbeat. An actual beater and it was unbelievably comfortable and smooth.
2:36 someone at GM was thinking in the ways of the Japanese. The Japanese like the look of English words so they throw them on stuff to make them cool
It is a nice luxury car and as good as a BMW car from era.
Aftermarket player I don’t like in there, I’ve got the original and although the cassette don’t work the settings are worth keeping, ‘manual’ ‘class’ ‘talk’ and ‘rock’ and the signal is very clear and sounds good
Idk how to make the cassette player not make clicking sounds like brrrrr
there has been a century in my family since 99, my grandparents took pretty good care of it, I completely agree that the century is not a drivers car, its more of a relatively reliable and relatively comfortable GM sedan, that will get eaten alive by rust if it even looks at the Midwest.
Growing up my dad had a white 98 century, that car for some reason just kept pushing, probably had 300k miles on it before it gave out
Buick engines of that era are actually very reliable...the 3800 and 3100 are probably the 2 best engines money can buy...easy to work on...cheap parts..no not a corvette engine, but if you have common sense and are mechanically inclined...you know
I LOVE MY 2000 BUICK CENTURY.
I'm thinking of buying one, has yours ever failed to start?
I got a 2003 Buick century with barely 100k miles and i love the car
Thinking of buying a 2001 Century, had 4 gallons of diesel added to the tank! $250, and nothing else wrong with it.
The outro music was kinda 🔥
The rain was a good touch! How did you do it?
Love this car
Nice review 👍🏻 I buy and sell cars and everytime I find a Buick century I want to keep it lol😁🤷♂️ I just love these buicks for some odd reasons.
My parents had one of these as a kid and remember them being so comfortable and I’m looking for an older comfortable cruiser because my car is too harsh for daily driving. Would you recommend getting a different Buick?
Buy a Regal from the same era, or a LeSabre if you need more room
Similiar to a Crown vic you say? I dont think so my friend. You can not compare Ride quality of FWD VS RWD Especially a full size crown vic. You should go over some city Manhole covers and decaying road bumps, then compare.
My brother is giving me one if I'm able to get the title for it....
I have a 1999 and really like it. Probably my biggest complaint is the placement of the odometer is too low for me to see and it seems to only have five digits.
in the new haven ct area i swear every other car on the road is this, i only noticed recently and i can’t ignore their omnipresence
Brakes and all that goes along with it are important as with suspension and transmission and head gasket but I’ve been okay with all so far (140,000)
I did replace the callipers, rotors, brake lines, pads, master cylinder and brake fluid but that’s cause the person before me left it for a while, the battery also got replaced and the window motor and I’m doing A/C this summer, insuring it was cheap and most parts and labour are easy for it
Use baking soda with the seats then hand vacuum, get a sorter for the back and the trunk, lots of space back there and a built in net for keeping groceries from sliding around (which makes sense since it’s really large and fits a lot inside)
the buick re-trim of the Grand Prix SE of the time.
If you come to Europe, make sure to tell us, I'm sure there are hundreds of people on the other side of the ocean that want you to review their cars (me included)
yoooo this car is poggers
I have a 2000 Buick century custom with a landau top with 173000 miles on it has a issue jolting when your accelerating had the transmission filter replaced mechanic told me there is nothing wrong with the transmission hopefully something minor
I just got one for 3000, its cozy

My first car so I'm bias 🤷🏽♂️#Buick4ever 🤘🏾
How much was it? The 2000 century was my family's first car and I developed a respect for it even though it was a pretty beat up car that my parents changed quickly. Now in my mid 20s I want to buy one for myself even if it's a mid car mainly because it's cheap but also because I kinda like it, though it needs some form of height elevation from what I remembered.

Fuel pump or fuel filter or O2 sensor pal.
How to turn off interior lights ?
I have that identical car!! Same color. I've had it for 14 years I'll never part wyit
How do you turn your trac light off
I just bought a 97 Century with the 3.1. The temp gauge goes a notch past half on idle, is this normal?
yes. these motors run hot. ive had it happen on both 3.1 and 3.4 engines. it should hold. if it starts to overheat then you might wanna look at gaskets
Owned a 98 Chevy Lumina which is the same car. It was boring but reliable. I wish GM still made them boring and reliable.
I wish these would’ve came with the 3800, that would fix the only serious problems these have.
He wants to bash this car so bad, but he can't lmfao.
Sometimes you want a car that flys under the radar.
That looks just like mine did
Man that driver seat is filthy🤣
Radios from the 90's are terrible? Try the stock radios from the 80's and earlier.. LOL

I have a 2001 Buick Century.
Dual climates controls for automobiles dates back to the 1960's. Just fyi.
Most 3800 series 2 were NOT supercharged.
I have a 2003 Buick Century, I love it and all.. But my damn brights are a bitch. I'll turn them on then 2 minutes all my lights turn off. Maybe doing something wrong.
I owned one back in 2008, it was 2003 model, It was exactly just as you explained, nothing special and every thing u need
