I remember reading that she was found singing locally by one of Simon’s “scouts.” On this guy’s advice - or because *he’d* heard her; he seems to have met her, at least - she was invited onto the show, & given 3 minutes (I think) vs the usual 2. I certainly don’t begrudge her one second of it! If this girl isn’t a star - she didn’t even make it far on the show - it must take just pure dumb luck to be one, regardless of talent.
