Thank you! I facilitate a support group within my agency, and I plan on covering the topic of spirituality/religion and how it has helped in recovery from addictions. I want to acknowledge all religions, as well as atheists, and provide resources for each. Your video was extremely helpful for this, so thank you!
Hi. This video really resonates with me. I am in recovery from alcohol addiction almost a year now. In the past three months I have become frustrated with 12 step recovery and honestly it lead to a labs because I was no longer living incongruency with myself but felt I had to force myself to keep going because of how they say that you have to go the rest of your life if you want to stay sober. But I learned a lot from that lapse and I came across this video! I love how you always accentuate that it doesn’t matter what you believe. Spiritual principles have nothing to do with what your actual beliefs are 💗
Hi Angela - I'm glad you found it helpful. I'm not someone who believes it's necessary to go to 12-Step meetings for the rest of your life, but I do believe you need to practice spiritual principles every day in order to stay sober. 12-Step recovery gives you the blueprint for that. How long and how often you go to meetings depends on the individual and their issue. I think that's why focusing on staying in the day and taking it a day at a time is so critical. Glad you found the video to be helpful. I hope you have a great day.
