Hello from Mt. Shasta Ca. I applied for and received my permanent residency through the Yuma consulate in February. Permanent residency required either $293k savings or $7500 per month. I finalized my residency in Puerto Vallarta in March (the day after I arrived). I would highly recommend using a facilitator when you finalize in Mexico. I would not have wanted to figure it out on my own, especially since I don't speak Spanish. The small cost of the facilitator is well worth it. After receiving my Permanent Residency card (one day after arriving) I purchased a condo there. I would not have qualified if I had purchased the condo first. Keep that in mind if you are using your savings to qualify and intend to buy a home there
@@kingmelanin7468 $7.5k is the monthly income requirement ( or $230k in savings) to 'qualify' for 'permenant' residency at the Yuma consulate. Not a fee to be paid! The facilitator only is involved at the emigration office in Mexico. Solvency requirements are less for 'temporary' residency. My facilitator 'fee' was about $250 IIRC
@@bobnankervis9722 Ah, I called a few consulates and the temporary residency requires $3200, +/- $500. I think that's pretty high for a country with a $2.5/hr minimum wage. I've been debating Portugal or Brazil. It costs about half with better infrastructure. Good luck!

Bye, bye Mexico...your residency changes are so ridiculous...usa citizens need to look elsewhere. In a way...maybe that will help native mexicans stabilize their cost of living costs to levels fairer to them.

Great video, as usual! Regarding the suggestion about applying for residency long before one might need it, I have a question that I have not seen addressed anywhere. Hopefully, you can help! 🤞 Here’s the question: Once the six-month window for the menaje de casa expires, how does one move one’s furniture and other personal items to Mexico? Can the menaje de casa window be extended? Alternatively, is it possible to hire movers to move one’s things to Mexico and pay custom duties on one’s used furniture, etc.? Any insight and resources you might provide would be deeply appreciated! Thanks in advance!
If you are moving your things on your own without a moving company don't worry about the Menaje de Casa. If you are moving with an international mover, then we have a recommendation that can work outside the 6 month window.
@@MexicoRelocationGuide Thank you! (It would be through an international mover.) How do I obtain your recommendation? (I assume there might be a fee. 🙂)
Ask anyone who moves here and you will find that the vast majority would recommend selling or giving away most everything and only bring what you truly need. Even those people who decided to move their things will tell you the same thing. With the cost and headache of moving all of your household items you could easily purchase everything new, including custom made furniture along with appliances to fill a large home and still have hundreds of dollars left over. I packed my car with the basic things like kitchen stuff along with my clothes, some artwork, books, electronics, surfboards and guitars and bought everything else I needed when I got here. you can easily live in Mexico for that amount. but first you must qualify to become a resident if you intend to live here legally. going and coming every 180 days is not something we recommend if you’re serious about living in Mexico
They are not issuing automatic 180 days anymore. It’s dependent on the agent. If the agent isn’t having a great day you might get 2 weeks. Don’t count on 180 days. I live in Mexico and some people are shocked when they arrive.
Email them to see what their specific requirements are and ask them. Some Consulates require that you live in the county they are located in. Ok, but if you're married to a mexican national and you don't have to prove economic solvency, do THEY need to provide financial solvency in the form of proving they can financially support their spouse who would be a temp resident and therefor unable to work? Question.....I have my passport and 12 months of investment statements. Would I also need my birth certificate and marriage certificate? I am divorced but kept my married name. My passport is in my married name. 😊 Thank you!
They only asked for the passport for me. No requirement to provide marriage certificate unless you are applying as a secondary person on another family member application.
I already have my temporary residence for the past 3 years, when i apply for permanent in a few months, i will need to proof of income or i am except because i had the residence before all of this?
Most consulates will only grant a permanent residency visa if you are over 60 and receiving social security and are actually retired. Most people don't qualify for permanent residency with social security alone. So if you have enough savings you can certainly try. The worst that can happen is you receive temporary residency. Which has the same benefits as a permanent residency except you have to renew it. After 4 years you can apply to become a permanent resident :)

Marianna, is it realistic to think I can transport my most valued possessions to Mexico from North Carolina? I’m a musician (with a lifetime collection of instruments) and a woodworker, again with a collection of irreplaceable tools. To be happy in life I need my these things. My wooden instruments will need to be transported personally, as they are heat sensitive, so I’ll need to drive an SUV in and out of Mexico at least once. BTW, I believe I’m entitled to live in Mexico, as I was born in Mexico, to American parents.
Can I visit as a tourist while my residency is pending? I have plans to visit in Feb 2025 but want to start residency application this fall Oct 2024. should I wait to apply after my trip in Feb?

You need a visa and an RFC number to hold a Mexico paying job. It's basically a Tax identification Number or Registro Federal de Contribuyentes. They recently changed the law and now, whether you are working at a Mexican paying job or not, you need to get an RFC number. Whereas before you only needed an RFC if you were working in Mexico. If you are working remotely you don't need any type of permit. Buena suerte!
Marianna, your videos are excellent! It was not clear that for Temporary residency thru economic solvency you can still be working and not retired while for permanent residency the requirement is high but you should be above 60 and also retired. Can you clarify? Who are the facilitators? Attorneys from Mexico but will help booking the appointments and paperwork in USA? Does Charlotte NC has a Mexican consulate or need to apply in Raleigh?
Great video! Thanks! With the temporary residency visa, are you allowed to bring immediate family members along? And if so, does that increase the monthly income requirements?
If I can qualify for temporary residency using savings at any of the Mexican consulates in the states, is it still to my advantage to travel to one of the consulates with the lowest requirements? Would that help when we apply for my wife's Temp Res after moving to Mexico?
I understand solvency requirements at the Vancouver consulate increased roughly 15% per year over the past few years. I am ready to move 5 years from now but worry the solvency amount will be close to 200K$

Hi Marianna, I am a Canadian watching from Monterrey, N.L. I have a question about the Regularization program (without proving economic solvency). I have a documented visit to Mexico in August 2021, and am currently staying in Mexico until the end of my 180 day stay in October. I do not have an FMM, as they are no longer giving paper FMMs at the Monterrey airport. Instead, the airport staff stamped my passport and wrote the final day of my 180 day stay in my passport. Would the fact that I do not have an FMM affect my ability to apply for the Regularization program after my 180 day stay? Does it suffice that I have the end date of my 180 day written into my passport? Your insight on this would be much appreciated, thanks.
Your videos are so informative, Marianna! Thank you. 😀 In regards to the "Special Program," having visited Mexico before 2022. How far back can this be? I was last in Mexico in 2012.....would that qualify?
It depends on which INM office you want to apply in. Some of them only accept entries as far back as 2015. Some INM offices allow earlier entries. Like Aguascalientes which allows entries before 2015. If you want to work with our recommended facilitator in Aguascalientes check out our complete Mexico Relocation Guide mexicorelocationguide.com/guide/
Passports are only good for 10 years. Either way your new passport will not have a stamp showing you visited Mexico. You should consider coming down and getting your passport stamped. Then in year or so of saving money and doing border runs every 180 days you would qualify for the Regularization Program. Buena suerte!
Hello Mariana, I inquired about permanent residency for my husband and I at the Raleigh, NC consulate and received an email response that stated "Permanent visas are reserved for retired people with a minimum age of 65 years" My husband nor I are 65 years of age so we can only apply for a temporary visa?
I had same response in Vancouver, Canada. That’s why I got temporary residency. Every consulate is different. They denied a wealthy person from Hong Kong permanent residency as he was too young at 45. He said he was semi-retired but they didn’t care.
I retired early and got the same response. There are some benefits to first getting a Temporary Resident Visa. The big one is that you can drive your foreign plated vehicle in without having to spend a small fortune on import fees. You can then drive around to explore different areas and may decide you don't really need a car.

Question about the temporary visa--can the income requirement be the combined income of a married copy or does one have to have the income individually. We have enough together, but not separately. Thank you.
At least one of you has to qualify Independently. Then you can petition your spouse in Mexico without having to prove economic solvency for them.
Dallas
Marianna, when proving economic solvency for the Temporary Resident Visa, are they just looking at the amount of money, or does it matter the source of the money? In other words, can I satisfy the requirement utilizing my current income from my US employer?? Thanks!
Yes, that should satisfy the consulate's requirements. They want to sometimes see paystubs along with bank statements
I’ve gotten the run around by the Dallas consulate. Will purchasibg the relocation guide help me state side?
The online guide is an online course you can follow at your own pace. However in the guide we do give you our list of immigration facilitators in Mexico that can help secure an appointment for you and help prepare you with the right documents.
Email another Consulate and purchase the guide! A lot Consulates don't have openings for appointments, is that what you mean by the "run around"? I imagine that Dallas may easily get overbooked. BTW -If you are a rude person then you will surely get the run around. You are asking for their permission to enter their country.... Buena suerte!
That is ridiculous! I am pretty sure not many if any Retirees get 4k per month! So why don't you tubers talk more about that? It's always about living so cheap and the weather and the food is so nice??? We want to know the real deal not the sugar coated version! Thanks for your video.👍👍🙏🙏
Question.....I have my passport and 12 months of investment statements. Would I also need my birth certificate and marriage certificate? I am divorced but kept my married name. My passport is in my married name. 😊
Thank you!
They only asked for the passport for me. No requirement to provide marriage certificate unless you are applying as a secondary person on another family member application.
Can you help me with working visa sponsorship 🙏

I already have my temporary residence for the past 3 years, when i apply for permanent in a few months, i will need to proof of income or i am except because i had the residence before all of this?
After you initially qualified they don't ask you to re-qualify at the higher rate.
Wisconsin 😊
Are there any East Coast Consulates that will grant a permanant visa if you are 61 years old.
Are the numbers gross or net for economic solvency?
net 😀
@@MexicoRelocationGuide Well, that certainly makes it tougher. Thanks!
hello i am applicant for the Economic Solvency program and want to live in Mexico. Please guide me and find out
the suitable category. i tell you now that i have property in USA and i get rental income per month My name is Nadeem
Hola, I’m from Malaysia, can I apply for temporary residency ?
Yes you can- from a Mexican embassy in Malaysia
So I am married to a mexican citizen how hard is it to get my resedency?
It is even easier for you since you are married to a Mexican national. If you'd like help with the process, we give you the steps in our complete Mexico Relocation Guide. And because we know that part of the process is complicated and Mexican bureaucracy isn't easy to navigate on your own, we also give you a complete directory of recommended immigration facilitators.
You are mexican dude
Can you pls help me with working visa sponsorship 🙏

Watching from Querétaro. Been permanent resident since 2018
For permanent residency for a husband and wife do you need to show 293k total for both or have 293x2 to cover each of us?
This is why I’m getting my Mexican citizenship through my mother so I won’t have to jump through hoops to move there and rent/buy property😮💨
Can I visit as a tourist while my residency is pending? I have plans to visit in Feb 2025 but want to start residency application this fall Oct 2024. should I wait to apply after my trip in Feb?
No- the next time you visit Mexico you would have to also do your canje. You would have to wait until next year
Thank you Marianna!!
Hola Marianna from Canada!
Hola!
What about if you are divorced from a Mexican citizen? My mexican husband got all of his papers for USA then divorced me before I was able to get my mexican residency. Can I still get a residency visa without having to prove economic solvency?
I am short the income requirement but have the savings amount. I also own a car & casa in Mexico and the casas are now selling for $350,000 US. I am applying for temporary residency from Canada. I am retired so living expenses are minimal. Do you have to have both the income and savings or is it income OR savings? Thanks.
It’s one or other. Not both.
it’s either or, so apply soon 😀

@@marlarichardson2970Congratulations!! If you got it the regular way through a Consulate in the US it's initially good for one year with the option to renew yearly or for the full next three years before you switch to Permanent Residency. I'm not going anywhere so I renewed mine for the full three years in November 2023. After a short walk from the INM office down the harbor malecon, I celebrated with a freshly caught seafood lunch at La Guerrerense. It's the food stand made famous by Anthony Bourdain who called it the best in the World! You'll love living here most anywhere you decide to settle in! I recommend a less touristy area with nice year round weather to keep your potential living costs down. Where I live, yesterday (9/9/224) was the warmest day of the year so far at 86. Mucha suerte desde la hermosa Ensenada!
Are you able to work with these types of visas?
We can help guide you and also connect you with our directory of vetted immigration facilitators who can provide in person assistance. It's what you get when you buy the complete Mexico Relocation Guide mexicorelocationguide.com/guide/
Hello from Bali Indonesia
Hola
Marianna, your videos are excellent!
It was not clear that for Temporary residency thru economic solvency you can still be working and not retired while for permanent residency the requirement is high but you should be above 60 and also retired. Can you clarify?
Who are the facilitators? Attorneys from Mexico but will help booking the appointments and paperwork in USA?
Does Charlotte NC has a Mexican consulate or need to apply in Raleigh?
Great video! Thanks! With the temporary residency visa, are you allowed to bring immediate family members along? And if so, does that increase the monthly income requirements?
My passport has my middle initial. My DL and bank account do not. Do I need to change the DL and bank account to match my passport?
If I can qualify for temporary residency using savings at any of the Mexican consulates in the states, is it still to my advantage to travel to one of the consulates with the lowest requirements? Would that help when we apply for my wife's Temp Res after moving to Mexico?
I understand solvency requirements at the Vancouver consulate increased roughly 15% per year over the past few years. I am ready to move 5 years from now but worry the solvency amount will be close to 200K$
Then you should apply sooner than later. You don't have to live in Mexico to remain a resident.
@@MexicoRelocationGuide Yeah that's what I was thinking. Take a couple weeks off work , use a facilitator out of Puerto Vallarta. The INM office down there seems to issue temp residency same day, couple days at worst
@@toddmurray6596it’s no longer same day at INM in Puerto Vallarta. Approval now occurs in Guadalajara and then you have to return to INM about days later. Plan on longer than one day. No guarantee about the card being there on second visit either. I just had my visa extended to 4 years.
@@toddmurray6596Hola TODD, just returned two weeks ago from Bucerias. Got my 3 year residence card renewed the same day at the INM NAYARIT office. Use a facilitator, that had me first in line, had card in hand by 10:30.🎉🥳

You have an FMM but it’s digital- so you would qualify for this program! 😀
Watching from CA where an 800SF condo goes for $2500/mo.OUCH :(
ouch!
If one consulate turns us down for temp residency because of $$ can you go apply at another one or do u have to wait?
you can go to another consulate right away
Your videos are so informative, Marianna! Thank you. 😀
In regards to the "Special Program," having visited Mexico before 2022.
Yes that’s correct. It’s not an issue though- as a temporary resident you have all the same benefits.
I retired early and got the same response. There are some benefits to first getting a Temporary Resident Visa. The big one is that you can drive your foreign plated vehicle in without having to spend a small fortune on import fees. You can then drive around to explore different areas and may decide you don't really need a car.
