Would have been nice if you had specified the year of your model. AFAIK, was in production 2015 & 2016. My 2+ is different than yours. The battery is in a hard plastic sealed module. Battery cells not visible. Has Number ABS 94HB on the outside.
It doesn't matter what year its the model on the box and the speaker, like TL,GG,PL,AN,ND thoes are manufacture models of what factory they have been made in and what parts they are using
Thanks for the video. One day it seemed to me my Charge 2 started producing worse sound. I leaned my ear to the two grills from both sides, found out one side is silent and was sure the speaker was broken. Now I see there is battery under one grill… )

How do that things on the two sides work.
Air pressure
air is moved at pushed around the empty space on the inside and it has to go somewhere right? so it make the transducers on the side vibrate
They are called "passive radiators" and they work from the sound pressure that is produced from the front drivers. The cone area of the passive radiator adds to the cone area of the front driver, and makes it work as if the front driver is a larger unit. It's almost like getting something for nothing.

NOT a gimmick.... Those are called "passive radiators", and they are commonly used in the audio industry in subwoofer designs. The radiators add to the drivers cone area, and reinforce bass response. They DO work to help produce much more low frequency SPL from the speaker design.

One does NOT want separation when it comes to low frequency sound production. The higher frequency sound produced, and that is coming from the front of the drivers will have plenty of seperation.
When it comes to the bass response, the space behind the drivers will combine the output from the rear of the 2 drivers together into one enclosure, and the sound will be louder and lower in frequency than if the drivers had been in separate chambers.
It is a good design, and sounds great.
