the ds had to resort to sequence files, and soundbanks. Not exactly sure what the gc had but it probably had less limitations than what the ds did in having higher fidelity instruments / or space for .wavs and the sort

I love the two versions. The first remind me a seaside town with some trouble, the second an isolated but heavenly island where I spent all my time with Yoshi.
I love that 3 songs from Mario Sunshine were in Mario 64 DS. ☀️ Delfino Plaza for the secret (& exclusive) level - Sunshine Isles. 🎰 Both the Casino & Secret Course themes used for certain minigames in Mario 64 DS (& also New Super Mario Bros.)
@Ragiroth fair it is the original, in my head canon I always imagined 64 ds was the original story but because the news outlet likes to paint and exaggerate some stories, the news branded Mario as the sole hero of 64.
I would rather if they didnt port neither of them, instead remake BOTH games add all new stars from DS AND bring back EVERY SINGLE star they removed from 64, while also adding EXTRA stars, also they need to fix Wario, Luigi is too OP, Yoshi can turn into Luigi and be too OP while also becoming other characters for specific stars, and Mario is useless because Luigi is there, who cares about wall jumps when you can backflip and glide and swim faster in water I'm sure (and walk on water for a bit), so yeah they should fix the characters, and also not only allowing Mario to go beat Bowser, let other characters do it
I think Mario Sunshine is the only thing I feel nostalgia for. Even now I still think it looks gorgeous and my heart grows heavy when I hear this track.
I grew up playing SM64 DS on my 3ds and new 3DS XL and when I first heard this sunshine song, I originally thought it was from SM64DS but then a few months later I tried Mario sunshine on my Wii and heard the same song and then figured out it was in sunshine before SM64DS and just like 3 years separate from each other
To be fair though... One of the reasons it sounds like that is because the DS has more limited speakers, so they had to use more limited sounds for their instrumentation.
I don't want to see this meme ever again, because they just gives different instruments for different versions of different games, probably know you might know that, but it just angers me.
I mean these games are generations appart, it wouldn't be fair to compare them as if one is better when the DS is too limited to have that kinda sound fidelity
I grew up playing Mario 64 ds and literally forgot there's a sunshine song in its soundtrack
Is there? Where is it used?
There is also a casino song from sunshine used in SM64DS
I had no idea it was there, even me and my cousins all played together

Honestly, I like both versions; Sunshine’s is obviously better, but 64 Ds’ audio crunch has a nice charm to it
Nostalgia for me lol
SM64DS uses the same soundfont as SM64 so it kinda makes sense.
The ds audio crunch always make songs sound weirdly nice
Agreed. For a DS conversion, it's still a good song.
@@SilvercattoOsom i havent played enough 64DS so i cant confirm but it does NOT feel like og 64 soundfont
The Smash Ultimate remix of Delfino Plaza would've been perfect for the "A-Minor" version.
I can certify that is a quality avatar
i dont think so, its better the yoshis version of delfino plaza
It was in smash bros brawl
@@Lilhajxjk274No, the most recent one was in Smash Ultimate
@@Lilhajxjk274 The “Brawl version” is just the original.
The DS has more compressed audio then the gamecube, for some reason, those compressed sounds and music have a special place in my heart
Because it's a portable console. And it's closer to a N64 than a Gamecube
the ds had to resort to sequence files, and soundbanks. Not exactly sure what the gc had but it probably had less limitations than what the ds did in having higher fidelity instruments / or space for .wavs and the sort
Super Mario 64 DS already had an "accordion" sound, from "Cool, Cool Mountain", so it was easier just to reuse the same accordion.

i like how this has just become a meme in the video game community
To think I was fooled into thinking this was in Super Mario 64 originally.
I was happy to hear that SM64 DS had a Sunshine theme. Sunshine is my favorite Mario Game.

I thought it was impressive they were even able to port this song to the DS in the first place. Even if it was for just one mini-level. And in 2004.
I wish they would consider remastering super mario 64 ds, there was so much to love about that title.
@@rabbidguarddog I much rather would've preferred they ported it, than the original Mario 64

I know exactly what you mean! Feeling the same, nostalgia hits like a truck.
I grew up with 64DS, so obviously when I first heard the song in Sunshine I was so confused as to why the sounds were different lolol
Technically most people grew up with both, they were only made 3 years apart

To be fair though... One of the reasons it sounds like that is because the DS has more limited speakers, so they had to use more limited sounds for their instrumentation.
Delfino Plaza music fits perfectly for Spongebob show to be honest.
This is what the internet was created for
Spongebob: I'm partial to doing it in the key of A minor myself.
*Plays it in A major instead*
I grew up playing both games as a kid and was really happy that Super Mario 64 DS had Delfino Plaza's theme in it.
this is mainly due to the fact that the ds is less powerful than the gamecube, and that the song format isnt the same at all
I fuckin love when the algorithm brings masterpieces like this
Super Mario 64 DS was the very first game and I never noticed that there was a Mario Sunshine soundtrack... 😅
to be fair, it was on a handheld.
The note pitches are exactly the same, but 64DS rhythm is slightly rushed.
I don't want to see this meme ever again, because they just gives different instruments for different versions of different games, probably know you might know that, but it just angers me.
0:23 as soon as that harmonica hits… it’s my childhood all over again 🫡
Sorry to break it to SM64DS, but Sunshine’s instruments are just better.
Imagine this with a beat and a bass drop at the middle of the song or where ever someone thinks it fits
honestly, when I first heard that song I thought it was a SpongeBob song because of the style.
it has a tropical quality to it
This video emphasizes my EXACT thoughts about this remade theme.
I was confused when I saw the thumbnail but then after hearing the first few seconds I remembered that painting in the minigames room. Good times
Don’t forgot the casino theme in SM64DS is the same as the casino in SMS
And the secret level theme is also in the sm64ds aswell
I didn't even know the difference until you made this video
It’s cool hearing a sunshine song and 64s sound font.
I appreciate that they included it at least
This is one of the best applications of this meme template
I was 6 stars away from beating super mario 64 ds and never heard that audio clip ever
I just love this meme 😂
for the Key of A Minor part there was such a missed opportunity to use the Smash Bros. remix
good video though i had a chuckle
When I had 64 DS I never knew Sunshine existed (fixing that mistake) and I never even knew that there was an original
There is also the Mario Kart DS.
I played Mario 64 ds in 2020 and never knew this soundtrack was from super Mario Sunshine
It took me untill now to realize that there was a sunshine sound track in Mario 64 ds
Since I played Mario 64 ds as my first Mario game, when I heard Delfino plaza in a video or something I recognised it
At least the DS version doesn't loop the first 2 seconds endlessly.
Super Mario sunshine brings me back, I loved that game even tho it was hard. I’d buy it again since I got a gamecube agaij
I forgot theres a sunshine song in this game 💀
Man the SM64 Ds sunshine music is so nostalgic to me
Delfino plaza soundtrack sounds like it’d actually fit well in spongebob
Thanks now I wanna play Sunshine over again for the 5th time
It's the same song with different soundfonts
This meme has single handedly made me hate 2000s nostalgia.
dude Sunshine's music is so good
youtube shitposters when they discover music compression
Squidward forgot the Accordion
At least the secret course music sounds similar on SM64DS and SMS.
They have the same notes though
Im going to tell you the truth guys. I didn't knew this was a song from Mario until now.
Squidward go in the washing machine
You should have done the smash remix for the key of A minor, although this is still great.
Nice one
I pllike the version of this meme when spongebob plays in a minor, and it goes to the best version of the song rather than just a continuation of it
I never knew sm64 had this song in it lol
The only mainline mario game i have never played, super mario sunshine.
Ngl I highly prefer the SM64DS version but I can see what you're saying and it makes perfect sense.
I honestly expected the Smash Ultimate remix to be played, but I got my expectations subverted.
Spongebob created a meme with an empty piece of paper
hey is that the theme song from one of the mario kart wii tracks
I didn’t even know there was mario 64 for the DS😂
Ds audio crunch is epic
They only made it more simple, give it the Nintendo DS charm
this song fits spongebob so well :D
My version of the A-Minor would have been the one with the drums of when you ride Yoshi.
i was squidward for a moment
I didn't know 64 ds had a sunshine soundtrack
It's litterally just low definition due to the DS' capacities... Like... The notes were litterally flawless...
I don't even remember the delfino track in 64 DS
This is the first one of these videos where I agree with SpongeBob
It's like a spongebob song aswell
