I knew there had to be an easier way. I bought a savage .25 when they first came out late 90's early 2000's. I need a new spur gear & was loosening the nut at the front, without messing around with anything else. I haven't run my savage in a very long time 10+ years I think, but I really want to get it running soon
so when you removed the slipper plate, the dull side faced the slipper pad, but when you re-installed it, you said to put the shiny side to the slipper pad
Don't suppose you have a video of the hpi savage xl flux gtxl-1 spur gear do you I'm struggling to get the spur gear off cos it looks very different looks like it has a little metal Shaft/pin going through it thanks
at 6.00 where you mention the strip of paper ! whats wrong if the spur gear doesnt hold the paper .and has there got to be a slipper pad as mine didnt have one unless it fell out?
Nice video, but why not just include instructions with the spur gears? I'm having to pull mine apart again because I didn't realize there was peel-off backing on the slipper pad. Apparently, I'm not the only one, as my Savage is used and the spur gear I'm replacing had the backing on the pad as well. It was even news to the "savage expert" at my LHS... While I'm at it, new spurs should include the required bushing :) They're a pain to swap out without damaging the bushing or the spur hub.
that sounds like a tuning issue if you fiddle with your hi / low screws till they are flush with the outside, fix up your tuning accordingly from that and you should be ok.
do you know what i can do to stop the large metal pins coming out of the front arms.theres a bit on the front bumper that stops the pins coming out but mine turn and then the pins come out. ive tightened all the screws but the plastic parts that stop the pins coming out always move . sorry to change th subject but cant find any thin on internet about this problem.

Effort in putting the air filter back on I just leave it on, it's a bicch moving the zip tip back down on the carb
Does the Savage x and xl use the same kind of slipper clutch? Can I use a savage x on my xl?
hi friend can you do a video how to taje out the spur of the electric savage hp? thanks
Good Afternoon,
Can you help me. Can I use a 48 pitch and 92T spur gear on my Hpi sprint 2. Thanks
To get the bearing out, use a screw driver and come thru the back side. Use one that is just larger then the hole, should pop right out.

Well, after 5 years sure you had find a solution! But in my x4.6 i use zip ties to keep those plastic tight!
Zip ties are about only useful tool to fix this
The new version, GT-6, has plastic covers to retain the pins. You can retrofit them onto the older versions. That’s what I did
I have been through 4 now
its a 7mm nut driver
but awesome Vid!
Thanks. Problem fixed.
Guys conver your savage 4.6 to electric it's easy all parts on eBay. I put a video on UA-cam on how to
