(possible spoilers below) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 3:44:16 I wonder how did Tingyun managed to keep herself in shadow when Fu Xuan said that everything will go well. Like how was it not predicted whatever that was going to happen in that popular tingyun cutscene
The prediction system Fu Xuan uses is not magical. Unlike Elio, the Divination Commission is using the rather more flawed LaPlace's demon-like prediction system which bases its outcome on available information so the more info the more accurate, the less info the more inaccurate. That's why they needed Kafka to figure out what was happening as she had info that they lacked. The whole prediction machine they have is more akin to a mind reading + educated guessing machine. Since Phantylia's presence was unknown likely even to Kafka for reasons I'll mention below, there was no way to predict her being there. It's the difference between "prediction" and "precognition" basically. One is a way of calculating the likely way things pan out based on available info, the other is magic or ESP. As an example, using Kafka's scene with Fu Xuan's entrance, Fu Xuan can use her Omniscia to see the direction the guns are pointing and determine the path of the bullets Kafka fires and with the info she has (the gun model, the likely bullet type, the geometry of the area they're in, the materials they're likely to hit and ricochet off of, all info she can observe by looking at the present scene) she processes it and makes predictions on what is the most likely outcome of the action. She can then act on the individual elements such as changing the bullet paths to alter the outcome. Elio on the other hand would see the outcome of the bullets being fired without needing to see the paths they take or to know where the "actors" are at the moment they're fired. He wouldn't need to be able to alter the path of the bullets, he needs to make sure that the "actors" that he wants to save are not there, or are wearing a bulletproof vest or make sure that the specific outcome he selected has Fu Xuan close enough to take the actions I mentioned previously. Elio very likely knew of Phantylia's involvement and kept the info from Kafka so that it wouldn't be divined by Fu Xuan as that probably would have led to a worse outcome. And that's actually the fun part because, due to the reason Kafka mentioned they were even doing this for in the first place, the outcome could have either been more casualties and Phantylia's plan coming to fruition OR a faster resolution to the issue which would have made the Luofu no longer be indebted to the Astral Express crew, leading to further complications down the line to the "good end" they're working toward. I'd think it's the latter since it fits more with the way the Hunters work.
Xu Fran is not some chosen person granted an Aeon’s power. We later learn that the Divinations of the Xianzhou are basically just inserting data into an advanced supercomputer system that processes so much data it can predict the future to a scary degree. Well, they can also scan memories apparently, or read the karmic flow of the universe which they insert into the system too, but regardless it is just a very futuristic computer, which fits since they also have Androids with very advanced AI. The only person we know thus far that can see the different divergent futures (the script as he says) is Elio of the Stellaron Hunters, who DOES has the power of an Aeon.

I really like these long vods of yours for Genshin and Star Rail, they include a lot of main story and you complete side quests too. Please continue to do so, they're a real joy to watch. I'd get this game myself if it was available on consoles like Playstation 4 & 5. But since this game is also made by Hoyoverse like Genshin Impact, I want to say choices like the one with Dan Shu have to actually do something to be of value. But if the exact same thing happens no matter what you chose than there was no point, even though from a storytelling point of view, the choices are supposed to give or block access to future events following your last decision.
man dan shu’s story is so sad.. I mean imagine your friend (more like hinted lover) getting killed by Lan himself as “collateral damage” thats devastating

Absolutely loving this playthrough! Now that I caught up, I'm enjoying going back and watching your playthrough bit by bit! Gotta admit, I'm amazed how little you seemed bothered by Dan Shu. She lied, then proceeded to poison you to the point you were hallucinating and attacking innocent guards, and she's converting people to mindless Mara-struck. I don't think it's quite as even as "we met Jing Yuan first" as much as he has been mysterious but cordial with us, while she literally poisoned us and those around her haha. Normally I agree with your takes on most things in Genshin/Honkai but I'm a bit baffled by this one haha. I let her go because I thought they had the right to render justice, I hadn't taken the pill, but I never thought anything she did was okay or just because we met the other side first. Marastruck attacking civilians sort of sealed the deal on which side I trust for me. Love the playthrough though! Can't wait to keep watching.

I think what makes them interesting is when the story is specifically dealing with the notion of how much free will exists within the framework of Fate (because the answer isn't necessarily none). Star Rail tackles this concept by highlighting that, though your critical path is being strongly guided, there are still many aspects of your journey that can still be different as a product of your choices along the way. You'll notice that the game frequently gives you choices where you're not able to experience all of the content they've written; for example, you could ask Kafka three different questions and whichever you pick (in your case, the question about what happened to Akivili) will be the only one you get an answer to, despite three completely unique and lore-informative answers were written. And so, from this arises the question, does it matter that you even have those choices? Are they meaningful? Some would look at the critical path being predetermined and argue, no, because those other choices don't change your destination, they are meaningless. Pela dispells the regen buff on the Mara-Struck enemies
yay, glad you're doing more hsr story!! i have no energy to go through it myself, so i was hoping to watch you do it instead. it's way more fun like this anyway.
i was also wondering if you're planning on continuing honkai though, because it's been quite a few months since the first and the only video on it... i'm kinda worried about coming off as ungrateful because of this, but it's been on my mind for a while now so i thought i'll just go ahead and ask 🥹
oh my GOD thank you rednas! 🥹🫶 it's always good to watch your longer videos. we're very spoiled.
