I met and eventually married a Korean girl (2010) that was devoutly Christian, kinda blew my mind with regards to her faith TBH. I gave up on the entire concept of God after nearly 12+ deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan, Africa, and Asia, given what I had seen and done. She and I we're always at odds with regards to this aspect, but I took my father-in-laws (Korean) advice and let my wife raise our children in my absence with a focal-point on God, love, family values, and a moral foundation. Honestly, this is something I couldn't have provided on my own following my experiences downrange.
My two daughters are now attending West Point. Briga is going to fly helicopters while Jai attends the M.D. school she always wanted. Michael enlisted in the Marines in 2020 and Jun enlisted in the Army this past January with a SF contract. He always wanted to be an operator. They're both in the SF community now. I should point out that I neither encouraged nor highlighted the U.S. Military as any sort of route for anything. They've chosen these career paths themselves, even after myself being totally honest as to the horrific nature of the job.
God, thank you for giving me life and happiness, for guiding me in the right path of peace and salvation. Thank you for everything dear God!

It’s a beautiful song and gets me every time. And praying for you my brother. Praying for you to come home and practice Catholicism, no more beautiful faith then this one. His precious blood found in the chalice truly is like nothing else.
