This is wonderful. I think the N&W J class is the most beautiful steam locomotive ever designed. I hope one day to be able to get over to the US (I'm in the UK) and visit Roanoke to see 611 running.
It still is a railroaders greatest challenge, it's a love lost in the page's of time ,that hopefully can be brought back through love,it was the love for the steam locomotive, being able to see what makes it work, and the power, the smell, the sound, the beauty of man and machine becoming one!! And making America what it is today.
Why these wonderful locomotives were scrapped, but eight Big Boys were preserved? This is a question of consciousness. Union Pacific has this consciousness!
As for the comment about O Winston Link taking “snap shots”, Mr. Link did not take snap shots, he took photographs. There is a great difference. Just as there is a difference between a real, well operated railroad and model railroad.
@TheJacktheripper1983 Sorry, I've been lazy as hell with these uploads, I should have that up real soon. Check back in 24 hours and it'll be up. Sorry for the inconvenience.

He did take some wonderful snap shots when he was alive.
Was the Grand Trunk commuter into Detroit not the last regular steam train in America?
Roanoke should never left its business behind.

Stand near the steam chest of a hot J and you’ll feel that you are beside a hungry dinosaur. And you are going to be lunch.
N&W didn't build steam locomotives, THEY WROTE THE BOOK ON IT.
