I saw them about 50 years ago in at the Ashgrove - a little club in L.A. Fantastic show. Gone but never to be forgotten by those who love good music. RIP
Two of the best ever!!! Whomever gave it thumbs down needs to buy some Ted Nugent albums!!! Home folk, hate it their gone!!! All the greats are gone!!!

My father picked and sang this version of Don’t Think Twice. Doc was the only artist he listened to who played it. When I told him it was written by Bob Dylan he was surprised. He didn’t like my music, as most parents don’t like their children’s generational music. But he did give Dylan kudos for writing a great song especially when I told him Dylan was a big Woodie Guthrie fan.
There's so many chord changes Dylan never did get it. I just saw Josh Turner teach the chord changes with tab. If you want to learn it check out Turner.
Who did write this song? I just checked the jacket of Dylan's Freewheelin album and he doesnt take credit. It wasnt Dylan. And Dylan didnt play the guitar at least not lead. That was Bruce Langhorn.

So damn good. Merle’s fingerpicking is unbelievable
Merle was a monster player, can't imagine what his playing would be like today had he lived. Tragic loss. Long live the memory of he and Doc.
Doc and Merle: arguably one of the greatest duos ever. Merle died far too young
Such beautiful Fingerstyle runs from Merle,... wish they would have shown His Face....... Rest in Peace 'Doc & Merle.....
Doc was adding some flatpicking fills as well.
Hell yeah, Doc. Hell yeah.
Merle should get way more credit than he does. There will never be 2 guitars flow together like theirs did.
Jim Croce and Maury Muehleisen are another duo whos guitars flowed beautifully together
@@baxterwilliams9290 you are not wrong they were great togerher
I'm absolutely astonished how unique Doc Watson was Truly one of Greatest Gifts given by God really cool
I always loved Doc
I always loved Dylan
Never thought I’d hear Doc sing Dylan.
So long as that ol' rail-track is there , songs of heart-break will be too
Sweet.
I've replayed this countless times - I think the real star here is Merle's fingerpicking - wish they'd shown that, but I do love Doc's voice.
I'm a fingerstyle guitarist and I couldn't agree with you more.
Don't think twice... ua-cam.com/video/LR-T2qTLF6o/v-deo.html
Merle absolutely nailed it that day and every other day. His talent was immense.
@@brandall101 Nice! Thanks for the link, don't know why it took so long for me to see this.

Sad miss them
Nowadays I love this song more and more
Hi would love to know what you think of my 17 year old grandsons cover of this ua-cam.com/video/Ds4h0Q6GQHg/v-deo.html
Doc always had the definitive version of this song.
Love Doc, but Dylan's version is incomparable.
Did U hear Joan Baez?
@Fuzzy Butkus Yeah, thanks.
Agreed. Dylan had nothing on Doc, but Davy Graham could have given him a run for his money
❤ this and of course Dylan’s original but Susan Tedeschi also does a great version. Check out her Gun & Garden concert on UA-cam.
Such a beautiful voice, too
I heard Billy Strings play this Dylan song . Did not know Doc played it too! Awesome!
What’s more - i didnt realize billy’s version is clearly inspired by this version. He plays it very similarly

Agreed.
First saw this on the TV in the UK about 40 years ago. I revisit now and again and always love it.
The Doc was always the best.
Don't think twice.
It's alright.
He always nailed a track and made it his own and made sure you remembered his version
That style of picking is noticable from the first note! It's wild and amazing! Sounds like three guitars playing!
Check out billy strings. He is Today’s doc Watson.

He was a great singer on top of his incredible guitar playing.

One of the best
One of my favorite songs..
I had the pleasure of see Doc & Merle 2 times at the Great Southeast Music Hall in Atlanta, GA
I was there. Stumbled in not knowing him. Then saw him every chance I got the rest of his life.
Fatner and son with two different bluegrass picking styles: Doc , the flat picker, Merle the Travis-style thumb pickers.
The lack of showing Merle’s face is maddening… but we get his fingers.
Legend.
Man. I'm fuckin crying here...
Best of the Best!!!!
Yes, thank you!
The ultimate break up song.
That's how God plays folk guitar......
beautiful
Doc again the master
Yep 5 years later here I am - serendipity is a thing 😉
omg doc thank you
Superb
Seen Doc at the Orpheum in Minneapolis with Vassar Clements. One of my favorite shows!
Merle’s phrasing was grand
Doc is my original guitar hero
Thanks
Ohh my. 💞
amazing performance! Can't figure out how Doc changed his shirt and shifted to a thumbpick during this set, but he could do anything!
That would be his son, Merle
This is Why Billy Strings is 🔥
Yes Indeed.
Yes.
Why didn't they include Merle in any shots??

👍👍👍👍👍✌️❤️
Badass
Here you go 1:01 🎉
Bob Dylan wrote this song JUST so Doc Watson could make such a brilliant recording of it.
It's alright!
🔥🔥🔥
Sooo awesomely cool
😍😍😌😌😌
Is this in Telluride? I was there, and the scene (stage) looks very familiar.
Yeah, the telluride bluegrass festival
@@spencerroten573 Yes, I was there then, also went hiking, and camped near Trout Lake.
Billy jo shaver and doc have lot in common .
Standing room only
a little tto fast
He's fingerpicking, not flatpicking.
merle is fingerpicking on this. doc is clearly flatpicking.
My mistake. sorry.
He screwed up the lyrics on verse 2.
Sounds good to me
@@oldtimetinfoilhatwearer What was that pause for then?
Mind showing us how it’s done instead smart ass?
He combined verse 2 with verse 3. Unless maybe it was edited? Maybe a break in the old tape?
Thank God trump has finally overworked his head and is out
