Whenever people would ask me to drop them a rifle in source (and playing SAS) , every so often it wouldn't go very far, and I'd see then nod their head left and right in disappointment, as if I failed them. It's weird to think over a decade later, it was a bug that no-one managed to notice. I have many memories associated to this.
I play CCS and i knew something was off, but i didin't even think that it was the character/SAS that was the issue until now, i hope Valve will fix it. (i started playing 20days ago, bought The Complete pack for 15€ on sale Steam)
Oh I've seen it an uncountable amount of times. But I thought it was just happening randomly every so often, never would have linked it to the player model.

I agree, their gasmasks look sick, especially in CSS. But I always picked SAS skin when I was on dark maps like Nuke or Season, and I never thought that throwing your guns as SAS is broken. I just thought it was like in CS:GO ( if you're too close to any surface, it falls on the ground just like SAS from CSS )
A lot of languages that use a lot of latin change some words, in portuguese, for example, ''vértices'' is the plural and the singular is ''vértice''. That being said, I also thought that the singular of ''vertices'' in english was ''vertice''.
I think he actually has a really good arm, because if you watch the slow motion part @2:36 in a quarter speed (super slow motion) the gun goes flying off and then comes back to be thrown by his feet. 3klikphilips please fix.
@@maildaemon If you're into competitive 5v5 on standard maps, you probably won't find a populated server for that, though. It's mostly custom modes on custom maps. But to be fair, that's what CSS has always done best.

That's because CS:S had no system to tell you how much you're worth by playing the game So people would focus on the fun, not on the reasons to win/lose
I miss those simple times. The main fun for me was joining a new server and not knowing what to expect at all. A lot of the custom maps looked so trippy and weird, which made joining a random server feel like Alice in Wonderland.

Even the community browser in csgo isn’t as active as those games were in their prime, it sucks. Although I’ll admit I do enjoy the matchmaking system for what it is, but it did kinda take over a game that I really enjoyed and I think was more fun

It is not "for some Reason" that an item from the player is dropped at this empty gameobject.Its a simple trick, since when you got this empty gameobject usualy glued right in front of the players face all the time, you can simply spawn objects at the exact location of that empty object. It contains basically world coordinates, and nothing else. It would be kind of uselessly complicated to calculate the spawning position of a new gameobject like a gun or something based on player location, height and rotation, so why not just glue an object right into the player model and spawn everything from there lol
I played way too much CSS, believe it or not I noticed this bug. I thought it was pretty well known in the community at the time, at least on the servers I played. Just was a weird quirk in the game no one thought too hard about. I thought one of the T models (arctic I think) had the same problem but I might be misremembering
What a coincidence. I play CSS once or twice a year for nostalgia reasons, but just yesterday I played it with a friend for the first time in over a decade. When we messed around on old maps, I wanted to give him a gun and noticed this exaxt bug for the first time in my life. It was very weird, because I wondered whether I have a false memory or something. My friend didn't have this problem, but he used the standard key binds, so my first thought was that this bug has something to do with that. Most of the time I played GSG9 or Seal Team 6, so I never noticed that.
I'm pretty sure my clanmates and I noticed this when playing skrims/maybe a community server back in the day. Though we didn't think much of it, we just kinda made fun of it when we noticed it and moved on, and I don't think we ever brought it up again. I guess, as someone who was more of a casual player and spent most of my time on 32 / 64 player servers, it really wouldn't have stood out to me as an issue. But I see how this could be an issue.
There's a bug I found ages ago: If you mouse2 stab a wall and quick-switch right after clicking, the "hit" will be buffered, and will land when you switch back to the knife. Players around will notice the wall being knifed, quite interesting!

Years ago, during my last mandatory school track meet, I was so done with it so during the throwing part, I tried to get the shortest legal throw which, turns out, was just dropping the ball at my feet, behind the line. Which is pretty hard, since you need to do a running throw lol. Should've just switched to the SAS skin smh

These attachments are called bones. Looks like the one for throwing the weapons has been attached to the root bone, the mother of all bones, either by accident or maybe it was undefined and defaulted to it automatically.

I noticed this 10 years ago while playing in jailbreak server. There was a weapon tossing challenge in !lr (last request). I would choose that option if the guardian(CT) was in SAS skin. I would constantly win until they added custom skins to the server.
What's amazing to me is that I do remember encountering this but I've never been able to tie it to the SAS character, I just assumed it's inconsistent due to an unknown reason.
they didn't even bother to fix all the problems that occurred in the last update of source, which ruined the recoil amongst other things, so them going back to fix this... more chance in seeing half life 3 this year.

Damn, i rarely picked SAS when i played CSS but I've always thought that throwing thing was a bug of some sort unrelated to it when people would try to throw things around.
I noticed this but never paid attention on the distance when the weapon is thrown when you are playing as SAS, very interesting bug that can be easily solved if installing custom models because an official update is unlikely to happen but who knows.
Crazy that something like this genuinely went unnoticed the entire lifespan of the game
