I love you guys! You all are so precious! The German potato salad looked wonderful! I absolutely love the fabrics and paints you use. You have a knack for decorating! ❤️ Your fox hunting oil painting touched my heart and brought back memories of my childhood as my father was a very avid fox hunter. He hunted the Traditional Alabama way. When I was a little girl my momma would make us a small snack bag and daddy’d load up the dogs in the back of the pick up truck. Late in the afternoon we’d head out to the field and let them loose. The dogs would chase the fox for a while and then daddy would call them back and we head back home. He never harmed a fox he loved them and he abhorred trappers more than anything! Thank you guys for your “casual” videos! Keep them coming!💕

Not every husband likes to paint, cook or help or even to take an interest in the look of the home. What a blessing you two are to each other ♡
Thanks so much Linda! Joerg is wonderful, I'm aware that some men prefer to sit on the couch, watch football and drink beer hahah. Have a lovely weekend.
Back then in the 80s my family also got parcels from Germany :) I'm from Poland and those were years when shelves in the shops were practically empty and people had to queue when there was a delivery just to get anything. I was a small girl then but I remember that each parcel was like a feast. I still remember the name of the family who sent us parcels for a few years and I keep them in good memory. I love your videos and enjoy watching your trips to all those lovely British places. Stay safe
The staircase will be beautiful when you paint it. I agree, the pine is more rustic and doesn't suit your Victorian home. I adore that oil painting - so charming and English!
My mom used to make Potato Salad for holiday family get-togethers. It was potatoes, finely cut raw onion, salt, pepper, mustard, and mayonnaise. (She was from Indiana but moved to California after WWII, just before I was born) I love the way you are fixing up your house. It is delightful to watch. The Fox Hunt picture goes perfectly above your fireplace.
So good to see you enjoying live little pleasures, perfecting your nest....you have build a great life together!..Potatoe salad is amazing dish and you can make it so many ways...In my Slovak culture we make it like you with a mayo and gerkins and egg, but also add some cooked peas and carrots and sliced onion, sometimes I add a bit of gerkin juice to make it more sour....my other heritage is German and we make a salad that is just potaoes, onions, vingegar salt pepper and oil.....it is delicious cold from fridge with a nice fried meat patties.. sending hugs..Jana
You and Joerg have such a wonderful sense of color - charming, and sophisticated. I love the new oil painting! It works really well. You are both lovely people and it's a great treat to get to share in your adventures, indoors and out.
Great news kirsten , my husband has ordered me pink Asiatic pheasants cow creamer, we saw yours in one of your blogs and said I could get one as my birthday is coming up! I do love the Burleigh pottery now and hope to get a teapot soon, too I'm so happy! Love your tastes and thankful that you share your lovely things with us. X
Will definitely be trying your potato salad. It looks so delicious. I loved the colour paint job on the walls. Loved it. Well done Kirsten & Joerg. 👍🏼👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
I agree, painting the stairs white will really show off the blue. I enjoyed watching you both make the potato salad. My family's German potato salad recipe is slightly different. Your new painting in the nook looks lovely. I'm trying to find a nice painting for my hallway. Very hard to choose. Have a love lovely week. 🦋🌼🦋
Yes, we think it will make it pop a lot more. We think you probably know the recipe for potato salad that is common in the South of Germany (but there are tons of recipes anyway). Our is used in the North. Have a nice weekend too.
Ha, ha, some wild ducks flew to your windows when they heard the mating call of the squawking pepper mill, I like your hunting scene painting, as well as the rooster print in the kitchen, I agree that the blue in the hallway is too dark, but it is a lovely color. What we Americans call German potato salad is a warm dish with bacon drippings and some vinegar for a tangy taste.
Thank you. Yes, I think Americans only seems to know the potato salad that is popular in the South of Germany, the one made in the North is totally different (and made with mayonnaise).
I'm so glad that I found you too you guys are the best The blue is going to be beautiful can't wait to see what it's all finished your German potato salad looks so delicious thank you so much for you two being you have a wonderful day and look forward to seeing you next video 😃
What a wonderful video! Beautiful colors, and the wood will be pretty in a shade of white! Your dinner looks delicious, my husband and I have German and English heritage, and so enjoy making a similar meal here in Cleveland, Ohio, US! Love the gherkins in the potato salad! Thank you for sharing!
I would just like to say I love the colors you have painted your house. I am from the USA and it seems to me color here is either stark white or gray or else very bright colors. I love these subtle shades - so warm and inviting. The way you have furnished your home is just right for the style of the house. You both have wonderful taste, nothing is overdone or stark - everything complements the room. I can't wait to see what you do next. I think the painting is just right for that spot. It is plain to see that you took great time and care to see that everything gives off the same vibe. I hope that you both will be happy in that beautiful house for many years to come.
I enjoy seeing your home DIY updates. Very nice additions and I think painting the stairs will give it the traditional appearance you're looking for. I had thought German potato salad was made with vinegar and a bit of oil. Obviously, as in other countries, different areas have different recipes. I've never had a gherkin, but I understand they are a sour pickle. I was raised using sweet pickles in potato and macaroni salads. It is always so nice 'spending time' with the two of you. Take care.
Another enjoyable video. The painting is perfect in your snug! Great paint colors. Watching you make the potato salad made me hungry, looked so yummy! It's always to watch and listen to you both. Look forward to more. Thanks for sharing. Have a great weekend. Cheers from Canada 😊❣
Potato salad must be universal we make exactly the same recipe.. Yum... And those sausages I would love to find them here in DEVON..... I love your hunting painting🐎🐎🐎🐎 so gorgeous...PERFECT IN YOUR SNUG .... 👌❤️🌈
Your salad looks amazing! We love potato salad but it’s made a little differently. Potatoes, Onion, celery, boiled eggs, sweet pickles, mayonnaise, mustard, vinegar, tiny bit of sugar, salt and pepper. The sausages look amazing too. Love the paint colors. An excellent video guys, made my day! ❤️
Thanks so much Tonya! Yes, so so many potato salad recipes out there plus there are regional differences in Germany. The one we made is more common in the North of Germany. Hope you're keeping well.
Thank you Kirsten. I do enjoy your decorating videos and I adore that wallpaper in your foyer/entrance hall! Also, potato salad is a tradition in our family also. We do have German ancestors on my mother's side so maybe that's why it's always been served in our family. The ingredients I use are a bit different from yours but the basic ingredients are similar - potatoes, mayonnaise plus I like to use a bit of Italian dressing to add some spice along with green onions, bacon pieces, and boiled eggs.
My german mother made the exact same potato salad and we all loved it. She became known for it and was always asked to bring it to parties, BBQ's and family gatherings. I will try to carry on the tradition.
Hi! Potato salad looks delicious. We make ours various ways in the USA. My family puts chopped pickles, chopped celery, chopped eggs, chopped white potatoes. Then we add a teaspoon of the pickle juice to the mayo for the dressing. Sprinkle paprika on top. I had bacon in potato salad once and it was delicious! Love your channel! Martie from Florida.
Such lovely colours..you have great taste Kirsten joerg . Maybe paint the stairs white or dark stain it..it’s the pine that throws the colours out a bit. You are such a lovely couple.
I love all of your beautiful choices for your home. The two of you are a gorgeous couple. You are so pretty and I love your style. Joerg is so handsome and your love makes me feel hopeful. It is so beautiful to watch the both of you and how much you love one another. Stay safe be well you are treasures!
We make potato salad in the US too, but I’ve never had it with tomatoes or Apple-so interesting. I usually add mayonnaise, a little mustard, diced celery and diced boiled eggs.
That sounds delicious as well! There are many different recipes in Germany and there's usually a big difference in how to make potato salad in the North or the South of Germany.
I love your paint choices! Beautiful! Definitely paint the staircase. I like potato salad with boiled eggs, pickles, celery, shredded carrots, mayonnaise and a little bit of mustard .
Nice color choices as usual. The hall looks great, Joerg always does such a good job with the painting. My Mother used to make potato salad that way, minus the tomatoes. It is our favorite potato salad. Will be looking for the next video.
Watching your video has made me quite hungry :) My father & Grandmother owned a deli when I was a little girl and Grandma made ALL the food from scratch; every delicious morsel! I have German heritage and so grandma used to make two kinds of pototo salad to serve at the deli...one using mayonnaise that was more popular in the USA and the other (which she called her German potato salad) which used oils & herbs...I love the use of apples in your rendition! I am happily waiting to see how your hallway comes along...You both are doing a splendid job of it! Each video is a breath of crisp, joyful, air ~ Until next time...
Colours looking fab on the walls.. You could sand and dark wood stain the stair rails... And paint the rest (bars) white.. That is very traditional and would tied in with your dark wood doors... You do north German mayonnaise potato salad.. I love the south German potato salad with oil, vinegar and gurkens.. Potato salad is yummy however it is.. Enjoy xx
@@KirstenJoerg yes.. Just noticed your dark door behind you both and I recently watched a you tube video with a stair reno where they did it in an old house being restored .. It looked fab! :)
Different but potato salad looks good. My grandmother Ketterman and my mother made a hot German potato salad. They used a large iron skillet and fried bacon, apple, kummel seed and of course potatoes made and served hot. Also made a traditional cold southern salad. Have not had te hot German potato salad since my mother passed. My grandmother was a great German cook. Also miss all the traditional German breads.
Inspires me to make a small potato salad, American style. I use potatoes, boiled eggs, sweet pickle relish, Spanish olives, herbs and spices with a dressing of mayonnaise and a tiny bit of yellow mustard just for color. I love it and it seems to be very popular with a crowd. Today I am making something cooked with cabbage. Not sure exactly what. My mother would make what she called hot German potato salad. It was served warm and had thin onion ring slices and bacon with a vinegar style dressing. Don’t know how German it was, but it was very good. I have never made it myself. You should get some hinges to match the doorknob you’re buying for the cupboard under the stairs, unless of course you think it too much. Very nice. I agree with your decision to paint the staircase. That wood, which looks like pine, doesn’t seem to compliment the rest of the decor and colors you and Joerg have chosen.
Guten Appetit👍.
Wow, that oil painting looks like it was always in your house. It fits that spot perfectly! I"m happy you decided to paint the stairs. I think it will look so bright and pretty in that hallway when you get it all done. I can't wait to see it!
We love potato salad here in the American South. My paternal granny's was the best. Basically like yours, but the pickles are sweet, the eggs are chopped and mixed in the salad, there is some mustard, and no apples or tomatoes are put in. Tomatoes are a side to this--and to every meal in season. Apple's don't grow so well here, but boy do tomatoes grow!
Good morning! I really love the color's you chose for the landing. I totally agree, your staircase will looking much much better in a gorgeous white and will work well with your color choices. It is 8:59AM here in Atlanta, GA and Joerg made me want to drink an ice cold German beer and I am not a big fan of beer but he made it sound like it was delicious (he should do commercials for them). Your potato salad looked so delicious. I am a southern gal and when I used to make my traditional potato salad I use of course potatoes, mayo, yellow onion, and lots of chopped boiled eggs and a touch of yellow mustard along with salt and cracked pepper. If I were making it for my late hubby Abraham I would add fried chopped thick cut bacon and shredded cheddar cheese. Now days I have to use cauliflower instead of potatoes and avocado mayonnaise when I make it for me. I loved the new English oil painting. I think it is perfect for your snug. Yall are so good at decorating. I just absolutely love you guys! Can't wait for your next video. Take care and stay healthy! Wanda
Thanks so much Wanda! Hahah yes, Joerg was looking forward to dinner and a cold beer. Your potato salad sounds absolutely delicious as well, there are many different recipes in Germany and it also depends on the region. We made one that is more common in the North. Take care too.
Of course we love your casual video. I agree, Chris I have a relationship with color as well sometimes it’s downright and intoxicating. Thank you so much for your videos, dear and one of these days you’re gonna have to tell me about where you get your dresses.
I loved this casual video. Your potato salad looks delicious, and I'm going to try it like this. Your potato salad looks almost like a salad that we call Waldorf Salad here in the US. When I was a kid, my mother made potato salad quite often. She used red potatoes with the skins left on, mayonnaise, yellow mustard, gherkins, boiled eggs, a bit of celery salt and roasted paprika powder sprinkled over the top for garnish....and it was devine. We always had the potato salad with Bratwurst. It was so good. I absolutely adore the colors you have in your kitchen...they work so well together. I wish I could find your paint colors here in the US, but sadly they don't sell Edward Bulmer paint here. Maybe I can find something comparable at one of our home improvement stores...I'm going to try. Take care of yourselves and stay safe. 😁
Just watched your most recent video about German food, beer and desserts and when I saw the potato salad I remembered you had a video on how to make it. I am definitely going to try it this week!! Thanks again for sharing your videos and I have to say I just love the ones in Germany!!
I love you guys. You are both so calm. I love your place,it's so cosy. Love your recipes to. Love your accent to. To the wonderful couple From a 76years old lady from Toronto Ontario Canada. My name is DIANE. I love all your videos ❤❤
Your salad looks delicious! My friend used to make german potato salad that was warm, with cucumber and a vinegar type dressing. But I love the idea of gerkins and tomatoes in yours!, Debbie...in Canada
Hi guys.. you've made me so hungry, I fancy trying the potato salad,it looked delicious,, nice dress as usual Kirsten, you are so right about the stair banister s, they will look better painted. And the painting is very similar to what I and my husband have in our home it's very nice, I'm saving your precious video to watch tomorrow , stay safe xx
I know you will be switching out the carpet on the stairs, but for now the blue on the cupboard is a perfect accent with the carpet. I'm going to try and find some of those yummy cheese bratwurst here in the states! I appreciate you sharing the traditional German potato salad. Thank you, Lori
Yes! Oh would love to know if you can get the bratwurst with cheese in the States, we don't have them here in the UK, just some 'regular' more 'meh' Bratwurst from Germany.
Try olympiaprovisions.com, and check out the Kaiserkrainer, which is the sausage with the cheese inside. They are mail order from Portland, Oregon. Good Luck!
@@joannpitkunigis4100 Awww thank you, it's fine, we don't have to order from the States (the tax is outrageous), for us it's fine to have them a couple of times a year (mostly when we visit our families in Germany).
I look forward to trying authentic German potato salad. It looks absolutely delicious. Thank you for sharing. (Also, the hallway paint is beautiful. I agree that the staircase would make it stand out if you painted it a nice shade of white)
You guys are working so hard. The colors are really great..it's coming along. Your meal you fixed is one I really love. The bottle you showed was amazing. Love you and be safe.
I agree with you, the new painting over the fireplace is perfect. I think its really nice. The potato salad you made is somewhat different from the American potato salad I make. We don't put tomatoes and apples in it. You'd be very surprised at the fact that our supermarket sells German potato salad but it never has a mayonnaise dressing. I've seen German potato salad around here in my life but it is always mayonnaise free so I believed that is how German people make potato salad. I learned today that that is not always the case. Thank you for another lovely video. Looking forward to the next one. Linda from Philadelphia, PA 😊
Thanks so much! There are so many ways to make potato salad, where I come from it's not common to make it with mayonnaise and Joerg is from the South of Germany and they use oil and broth. The way we did it is more common in the North of Germany.
@@KirstenJoerg the oil and broth is the German potato salad I'm familiar with. Yours does look delicious. I think bratwurst sausages look delicious too.
I’ve never put tomatoes in my potato salad. Nor Apple. I’m not sure about tomato, but for sure I think I’ll add Granny Smith Apple ? Usually I use new potatoes, hard cooked eggs, celery hearts, green onion, mayo and lots of dill, celery seed, paprika and salt and black pepper. ❤️
Kirsten and Joerg, I made the potato salad tonight and we loved it! It's very tasty, I didn't have any german sausages but used some cumberland ones I did have and it was still a very good combination, thank you for sharing. Maybe we can get some German ones for next time, we will definitely be making it again. Would love to see how Joerg's family makes it too. All your decorating videos are very inspiring, and well done to Joerg, he looks like he needs a good rest now ☺️
Potato salad, so humble, so good and many versions. I am embarrassed to say my tummy got very excited and made lots of noise while you were preparing the salad. My mother’s version, which I am thinking is a classic American version has boiled potatoes, hard cooked eggs, radishes, celery, onion, and mayonnaise. I love its simplicity. Some make potato salad here with pickle juice. Another adaptation I like is oven roasting the potatoes with olive oil, salt, pepper and dried rosemary and then incorporating all the other ingredients my mother used. Tonight I am making a leek and potato galette with a pistachio crust. I am sure you could make a gluten free version. Haven’t made it before but am hoping for the best. We’ll have it with an arugula and radicchio salad. Cheers to both of you on your projects and to sunny days Leslie
Oh yes, you are very right, tons of versions for a potato salad, we made one that is popular in the North of Germany. Your dinner sounds great, I'm sure it will turn out well.

Take care.
Thanks so much! The North of Germany had a completely different potato salad than the South. The one you know is common in the South of Germany.
I love learning things about Germany and you do it in such a lovely way ❤️
Thanks so much!
Another enjoyable video. The painting is perfect in your snug! Great paint colors. Watching you make the potato salad made me hungry, looked so yummy! It's always to watch and listen to you both. Look forward to more. Thanks for sharing. Have a great weekend. Cheers from Canada 😊❣
Thanks so much - have a great weekend as well.
I love the videos I always love to watch them they have really cheared me up during lockdown
Thanks so much!
Potato salad must be universal we make exactly the same recipe.. Yum... And those sausages I would love to find them here in DEVON.....
I love your hunting painting🐎🐎🐎🐎 so gorgeous...PERFECT IN YOUR SNUG .... 👌❤️🌈
Thanks so much! Yes, sadly you can't find these sausages in the UK but they are so so good. Have a lovely weekend.
You two are having way too much fun ! Such a cozy life, reminds me of me and my hubby. Life is so good ! Thanks for the visit. See you next week.
Thanks so much!
That salade and sausage !!! Hummy ! And the colours you picked up for your walls are great !
Thank you!
Thanks so much! Yes, there are so so many potato salad recipes in Germany plus big regional differences.
My german mother made the exact same potato salad and we all loved it. She became known for it and was always asked to bring it to parties, BBQ's and family gatherings. I will try to carry on the tradition.
Loved the salad looks tasty I will try and get some German sausages too think Joerk deserved that beer after all of that painting 😂❤️🇬🇧
Oh yes, if you try it let us know whether you like it. And yes, so agree, he really deserved it.

I'm not sure the sausages are available in our area. I like to have them in October at the German Festival. I do love Sauerkraut.
Thanks so much! Yes, there are tons of different potato salad recipes out there.
Such lovely colours..you have great taste Kirsten joerg .
Maybe paint the stairs white or dark stain it..it’s the pine that throws the colours out a bit.
You are such a lovely couple.
Thanks so much!
Guten Appetit und ein schönes Wochenende!!! 👩🙋👍☀ Euer Häuschen wird ja immer.
Vielen lieben Dank!
I love all of your beautiful choices for your home. The two of you are a gorgeous couple. You are so pretty and I love your style. Joerg is so handsome and your love makes me feel hopeful. It is so beautiful to watch the both of you and how much you love one another. Stay safe be well you are treasures!
Thanks so much Joanne, you are so sweet. Be well too and have a lovely weekend.
Love German Potato salad.. love your paint colors
Thank you!
Oh, Kirsten, I hate the smell of beer too! Lol. Love to see your progress on the house, and always enjoy spending time "with" you both.
You two are just so adorable. Thanks for your always enjoyable videos!!!
Thank you so much!
I love the picture on the fireplace, it is the perfect one for the space, traditional and elegant, thanks 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you!
I love your paint choices! Beautiful! Definitely paint the staircase. I like potato salad with boiled eggs, pickles, celery, shredded carrots, mayonnaise and a little bit of mustard .
Thanks so much! Germany has so so many potato salad recipes it's crazy and we have big regional differences.
Hi Kirsten, I have really enjoyed watching your videos! Sincerely Tracy from Pottstown PA
Nice color choices as usual. The hall looks great, Joerg always does such a good job with the painting. My Mother used to make potato salad that way, minus the tomatoes. It is our favorite potato salad. Will be looking for the next video.
Thank you!
As always enjoyed every second of your video , you are both so wonderful an so happy , thank you Kirsten and Joerg Mary 🇨🇦
Thanks so much Linneah! Oh wonderful, yes Germany has many different potato salad recipes depending on the region too. See you very soon.
Delicious colors, Delicious dinner. Thanks!!
Thank you so much Diana!
Enjoy xx
Thanks so much! Yes, this is something we are actually contemplating, we had that in Germany too.
@@KirstenJoerg yes.. Just noticed your dark door behind you both and I recently watched a you tube video with a stair reno where they did it in an old house being restored .. It looked fab! :)
I love all the paint colors!!!! And I love a good potato salad!!!!
Thanks so much!
Love ur choice of paint it,s so romantic, it,s raining in my country too 🇬🇾
Thank you!
Yes, you can have our version of potato salad warm as well (this version is popular in the North of Germany, the South makes it totally different).
Love your tea pot with polka-dot. So cute!
Thank you!
Yes, lots of different potato salad recipes in Germany and huge differences depending on the area as well.
I saw and felt nothing but lovely energy, and yes we make here in Croatia very similar potatoe salad.
Thanks so much Monica!
Thanks so much! You could try Farrow & Ball for similar colours, maybe?
Hello both and thank you for another lovely video, your home is beautiful and the love between you is so precious ❤️
Just watched your most recent video about German food, beer and desserts and when I saw the potato salad I remembered you had a video on how to make it. I am definitely going to try it this week!! Thanks again for sharing your videos and I have to say I just love the ones in Germany!!
Well I made it today and I LOVE it!! Thanks again for sharing the recipe!!
My wife, Hana, feels exactly the same about the smell of beer. But I'm with Joerg on this one. His tall beer looked fabulous. 👌
I love you guys.
You are both so calm.
I love your place,it's so cosy.
Love your recipes to.
Love your accent to.

I love all your videos ❤❤
Your salad looks delicious! My friend used to make german potato salad that was warm, with cucumber and a vinegar type dressing. But I love the idea of gerkins and tomatoes in yours!,
Debbie...in Canada
Hi guys.. you've made me so hungry, I fancy trying the potato salad,it looked delicious,, nice dress as usual Kirsten, you are so right about the stair banister s, they will look better painted. And the painting is very similar to what I and my husband have in our home it's very nice, I'm saving your precious video to watch tomorrow , stay safe xx
So glad you decided to pain the orange pine staircase - it will look amazing - much nicer with the colours of the wall and cupboard
I know you will be switching out the carpet on the stairs, but for now the blue on the cupboard is a perfect accent with the carpet. I'm going to try and find some of those yummy cheese bratwurst here in the states! I appreciate you sharing the traditional German potato salad. Thank you,
Lori
Thanks so much Bethany! We used a recipe that is more common in the North of Germany, the South makes it totally different.
You guys are working so hard. The colors are really great..it's coming along. Your meal you fixed is one I really love. The bottle you showed was amazing. Love you and be safe.
Thanks so much Mary!
Just wanted to say how much i enjoy your videos. The way you deliver them is so calming. Love your connection with each other.
Thanks so much!
All your decorating videos are very inspiring, and well done to Joerg, he looks like he needs a good rest now ☺️
Oh so great to hear, thanks so much!
Cheers to both of you on your projects and to sunny days
Leslie
Oh yes, you are very right, tons of versions for a potato salad, we made one that is popular in the North of Germany. Your dinner sounds great, I'm sure it will turn out well.
