Really want to hear your fast food ditty. And also please don't ever start editing your vids. I love that you are just you with your life happening around you.. There are some truly delightful moments. I offer up the call out for if it's a kid or your dog at the door as exhibit A of this delightfulness!

Can confirm. Harlow is the best way to learn brioche. It's one of my favorite patterns ever

I have only been knitting for a little over a year, but I just LOVED the look of the Rose Cardigan, so I dived right in. After I got the hang of it, I really enjoyed it, but your charts were what made it doable for me! I was so grateful that you added that extra feature!

My first sweater/cardigan was the Rose cardigan and I figured it out. Now I feel like a champ cause you said it was one of your more difficult designs. And I love my rose cardigan!

Oh please create a combo hoodie/cowl thingy! That yarn, that pattern, I can just see it! I love your two chunkies! It goes without saying that Spincycle yarns could have all my $ without a lot of self-restraint.

As someone who's knitted 15 of your patterns, I vote Daydreamer for the hardest pullover. It's also time consuming, but worth the wait! (You did not mention a pullover sweater.) Baubles is the hardest shawl I've ever knitted, and yet I'm making a second one! I agree with you on your cardigan, and hat choices. I keep coming back to your patterns because they make me a better knitter.

I don’t know if you were intentional about your colour choices but….. your cowl and hat look so beautiful with the background. You look so cheery in the midst of winter. Anyway, love the colour choices.

I'm wearmy Shift cowl as I'm watching, and it's so snuggly ❤
I've knit one for both of my daughters, and they love them. The best part is it won't accidentally fall off! Great patters... I may have to try brioche in 2025!!

I love Rustic Wool thread, especially for embroidery on felted objects (I use it to decorate my felted slippers)

Like most things in my life, I steeked a sweater before I knew it was a thing. I had knitted a top-down colorwork yoke sort of Icelandic pattern sweater and decided I would like it to be a cardigan instead. I made this decision after the sweater was done. Par for the course. I machine stitched along the center front lines, took the scissors fearlessly and cut down the front of my beautiful sweater, and then turned the ends in and covered them with seam tape. Then I picked up stitches and knit the button bands. I wore that sweater for years never knowing that I had done the unthinkable - ha! Nowadays I would probably do something so fearless. I miss that girl!

I am listening at work with headphones and glad that you said that the extra sounds were coming from your house. I wouldn't want to embarrass myself asking someone if someone brought their dog to work or if we had workers that were pounding on the walls.😄

I've crocheted since I was around 11, and started knitting a couple of years ago. Yes that is a slip stitch and it definitely would be the best crochet stitch in this instance, BUT you have to make sure it's not tight by pulling up on the loop alittle . Then check it after you do a few inches to see if it's stretchy enough for your project. If not, you can easily pull it out and try again. I mean pull up a little after you've pulled your yarn through your knitting and the loop on your hook. Always enjoy your videos, they've helped me along the way with my knitting, being fairly new to it !

I am currently knitting a shift-a-long as a swatch for my stash down shifty.
I knit my sleeves on my 9in circs (love my 9s) so the "smaller needles" issue isnt as big for me.
I wore my handspun shift to work this morning, and got so many compliments.

It sounds like your sweater pattern wanted to be born in Michigan and not Maine. 😄 The Spark Cardigan was my first (so far my only) sweater, and I can attest to the fact that the pattern was extremely accessible to someone with some general knitting experience but no garment experience. I did use some other resources, but only for things like deciding which type of steek I wanted to do, and I wouldn't have expected the pattern to hold my hand through stuff like that. I absolutely ADORE that cardigan. I wore it a bit after finishing it in the spring and then I just wanted the summer to be over so I could wear it again. Rose has been high on my list since I started knitting, and now I'm looking forward to the fact that it will be challenging!

You”re explaining a single crochet not a crochet one. It should be a slip stitch for the reinforcement of a steek. Be careful to not pull too tight on the slip stitch so the steek line has give.

  • @shellymorehouse5822
    @shellymorehouse5822 6 днів тому

Slip stitch is what you are doing when going through the stitch yarn over pull back through the stich and pull through the loop on the hook. Single crochet is the other stich you described where you go through the stich yarn over pull through the stich yarn over and pull through the 2 loops on the hook.

Crochet usually feels about double the thickness of knitting, depending on the stitch- but like the same yarn in stockinet stitch vs normal double crochet you get about double thickness of the knit fabric with the crochet. It might be closer when comparing something like slip stitch garter to crochet though so you could use the same yarn if combining that. I find with knitting needles vs crochet hooks I’ll naturally choose a hook that is 1mm larger than my knitting needles for the same yarn, however I’m a very tight crocheter so always have to size up from what seems standard for others or what’s suggested on the ball band.

You are explaining single crochet in US terms, double crochet in UK terms. The slip stitch is used for steeking. Keep going with the crochet 🙂 Children pretending to be dogs so typical 😂 Thanks you for brightening the day

Speaking of stash downs, I have a ton of Spincycle Dream State in my stash. Any thoughts on a “Less Plumped Up Cowl “ pattern knit in Dream State?
P.S. my first try at brioche was your Cinnabar Shawl, and with the help of your tutorials I had no problems😄

I have been a knitter for about 15 years and I have tried brioche a couple of times and can never do it without messing up and even worse I can't figure out how to fix it if I make a mistake. It is my Achilles heal as a knitter. But maybe I need to try your patterns to see if I can figure it out with your magic???

isn’t design incubation majik?! it’s like sleeping on a problem, waking up & having the answer. part of the brain needs unscheduled time to work through it. my drawing & painting college professor called it the incubation period when ideas marinate/ cook/ incubate. he was a HUGE believer in that process. 💛
