Girl I like the fact that you actually showed us what to do with our rainbows. I also appreciate the fact you don’t have 7 shelves your doing it on. This is more realistic for me
I also organize by color! I have over 5,000 books though, lol. It’s a bit much, I know, but I love books. It’s the only thing I collect. I loved your tip about adding some black books in the darker colors. I’m totally doing that.
Thanks for all the tips on how to do the rainbow shelves and how to break up your black books since I seem to have a bunch of those. 😂 I also love the touches of fairy stuff on your bookshelf! So whimsical! 🧚🏻♀️ 🐸
I used to have hundreds of manga that I donated to some kids for Christmas a few years ago. So my book collection in general is not as big anymore. But I took some of these tips to make a rainbow on the top shelf of my (wide) bookshelf and it looks great! Thank you! I'll probably have it featured in a new video soon if you wanna see it!
Wish me luck, this month I hope to put my bookshelf in rainbow order! I'm excited to try some of these tips, but my biggest hurdle is the fact I have a Kallax Ikea bookshelf, not standard long shelf. I was inspired to do this because of noticing so many orange books on my shelf! My current idea is to have each "box" be one of the colours? But I have three rows deep of books in most boxes LOL Needed to hear the tip about not overthinking the colour placement, so thank you! I feel like I'd agonize over that haha!
A little late, but i had a similar problem. First i sorted out some books, I didn't really like so I got down to 2 rows. Then i put some old, clean egg cartons with some strong cardbord on top below the second row. That way both rows are visible because the sencond one sits higher.
I have those like cube-like shelves, so basically I just organize by size/what fits where lol I do try to keep like series books together one cube is almost exclusively print issues of literary magazines I've collected, which I do really enjoy (I worked on my school's lit mags in undergrad/grad school & I really like lit mags, so having a whole section just for them on my shelves makes me pretty happy tbh) 🐸
@@JessicaNicoleDickerson oh I have...quite a lot lol When in grad school I went to AWP (writing conference) a couple times & they would have a bookfair filled with different presses & literary magazines & I *always* left with like an armful lol A lot are magazines from universities (I have multiple issues of ones done by the more local schools in my area, but also random ones from all over), but I also have a few issues of some not really affiliated with a school like Fairytale Review (one of my favorites)
🐸Love the shelves! I desperately need to reorganize my shelves too. I have stacks everywhere, and just came back from a trip to visit my mom, where I bought even more books! I have 6 bookshelves to work with, 2 being downstairs, so if I want to organize all of them, it's a lot! I'll definitely get a picture of my tree shelf my husband built for me and tag you in it - I am so proud of it, he did such an amazing job! I mostly just organize between read and unread. Christian non-fiction and other non-fiction, then fiction lol. I also have parenting and marriage books, so I group them together. And I have 3 kids, so I am constantly rearranging their books too lol. Last year I started doing the sideways stacks as well.
Interesting tips, I haven't thought of some of these :- ) I have a very small number of books but luckily with the genres I read the most, I'm usually still able to do a mini rainbow :- )
I've separated them but in the future I want to put my favorite series together on a display shelf maybe ? But I don't mind them being mixed up either.
So visually pleasing 😍 Rainbow fantasy!!

I don’t do my whole shelves rainbow, but I do have a few shelves rainbowed and I love to look at them! 🐸
I personally love the aesthetic of rainbow shelves but could never do them myself, it was so satisfying watching yours blend together!! 🐸

@@JessicaNicoleDickerson hmm maybe I’ll try it sometime then 😅🥰

That's cool! Probably much easier to find books😂 Which literary magazines ??

I currently have my shelves organized in alphabetical order but I love to switch up the way I organized my shelves all of the time.
Jess you know fine well I wanna do this and that I don't have the shelf space!!! Ugh!! One day 🌈🌈
i used to do rainbows shelves but then got bored so now i have my shelf ordered in genres and each genre section is in alphabetical order
the putting black books between colors is kinda genius
🥺❤️❤️❤️ Thank you!!

I have a question, what do I do if I have a book series that is all diffrent colors? Do I sperperate the set? Work around it somehow?
I've separated them but in the future I want to put my favorite series together on a display shelf maybe ? But I don't mind them being mixed up either.
I organized my books by genre and hight 🐸
Same
🐸
🐸❤
I mostly just try to organize my shelves by genres or authors - and by try I mean that maybe 20% of my shelves are categorized/organized...lol...🐸🐸🐸
