Did I find my perfect Off Road Recovery truck?? The EarthCruiser Core chassis!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 15 жов 2024
- @EarthCruiserOverlandVehicles invited me out to test run their Core series of truck and see if it would be a good fit for the type of work I do. At first I turned them down because I didn't think such a big, heavy, and cumbersome truck would be good as an off road recovery rig. But they finally convinced me to try it out and I was VERY wrong! This thing has a 6.6 Chevy V8, automatic transmission, Atlas transfer case, Dana 80 axles with E- lockers, and 37" tires on a vehicle that only weighs 7,200 pounds and has a 130" wheelbase. To put it simply, it's a beast off road and incredibly capable! I have very much changed my mind on these trucks and in addition to their very well proven overland vehicles, this chassis is perfect for fire, search and rescue, utility company, construction, and many other types of rough terrain commercial use. This definitely won't be the last time you see me in an EarthCruiser!

Factory tour is a must!
Yay to a factory tour!
Good morning Casey , heck yes on the factory tour. That is a pretty cool looking truck and I am sure that it would do great in open spaces. But I am thinking that its size would not be very welcome on wooded trails because of how tall it is. I am also not too sure about those odd drive line angles and low mounted transfer case.. But still a cool truck.
this is what we call a snow 4x4 , it does perform good , but you do not want to end up bending that transaxle , or staying hooked on that transfercase

Yes, for sure on the factory tour, I’m down!
Yes, let's see where these beasts are made!
See the shop! See the shop! One of us! See the shop!
Yes, I’d like to see the build ..
I’ve see so many ex military trucks out on the trails - only thing that they have a problem with is a narrow trail .
An aluminum tilt bed for recovery with a hideaway wheel lift for off-road recovery- set up with about 5 winches would be ideal
Adding my voice to the chorus: I'd love to see a factory tour! 😻
Very cool rig!! It’s like it was built especially for you 😂. Would love to see a factory tour!
Ditto!

Yes, I would like to see a video of a tour of the factory. 😊👍
Happy Father's Day Casey and any dad's on yr crew..love you guys
To see more of the EarthCruiser Core Chassis and all the different applications it can work for, check out their video on the truck here ua-cam.com/video/MWgsneka3Ik/v-deo.html !!
And while you're at it, take a look at the absolutely amazing overland vehicles they build! Their overland rigs have been around for a long time and these EarthCruiser trucks are very well proven in extreme terrain, it only makes sense to adapt them to the commercial and public service industries as well. This truck is far more capable than any of the F-550/5500 chassis that utility companies and emergency services are currently using. If you want to see a full tour of the factory that builds them, as well as a peak at their overland rigs, let me know and we'll make it happen!
Casey unless there going to give you Core unit for free I'd look into the surplus Military LMTV/FMTV, MTVRs. If you go the surplus route your not going to have a limited parts issue, as a lot of the Mil Surp vic's are being turned into overlanding rigs. Parts are everywhere from MilSpec to Aftermarket.
Yeah I would like to see the shop but I would like to know what the starting price of that is, or is that one of the if you have to ask you can't afford it things
Have you heard of the side puller by in the ditch it looks like it would be perfect for that truck (not a paid sponsor lol) it's just a awesome add on or maybe inspiration. They have a you tube channel as well.
@@Torthak what parts supply issue are you going to run into with Dana axles and a Chevy drivetrain?? As far as the cab goes, this is one of the most commonly produced commercial trucks in the world
@@aaronmcconnell7358 there are better options out there than In The Ditch. Especially since they absolutely hate me
Yes on the tour.
I'm thinking of all the wats you could deck it out.
Thanks for the ridealong.
Bob
Do a eactory tour. Seeing how they build them would make my day.
Factory* took me a second to figure that out!

Yes please for the factory tour. It was impressive.
Looks like a very capable rig front drive shaft looks a little low though definitely a decent rig 🙏🐺
I want a tour. By the way…. You need (“CLIFFARD”). That would be a great truck to have in your lineup of recovery vehicles.
Love your work. Keep the the wheels turning.
Absolutely love a factory tour and see what kind of underside armor they have for the driveline

Do a tour and promote these guys... They deserve it.
A tour video would be great.
Seconded!
Hell yes seeing the earth cruiser factory
A factory tour would be cool, and I think we need to see a video of them building your new off-road rollback 😜😜

Yes on the tour!
Factory tour please. Road trip to Moab. I want to see it on Pritchett Canyon!
Yes please for the tour. Buy one with out the bed and rig it out like TRAIL MATER with duel tires and all the trimings.
Earth Cruiser makes some pretty cool stuff. I would watch a factory tour.
However, I think you should do a video of putting Clifford on tracks and then going out in the snow.
Yes to the Factory Tour!!
I always like factory tours. Hear me out what if the factory made your recovery rig for the Heavy Wrecker Olympics with you driving. Putting a technically stock rig against all the custom veterans. Good publicity for the company and with your driving career a perfect candidate.
That would be awesome!

Great to meet you today at the Groundhog Rock crawling event, look forward to seeing you in the shop.
Factory tour would be awesome. Curious to see how you’d set it up for your use & for which jobs.
Happy Father's Day Casey! Hope you have an awesome day!!!
Yes on the tour. Will definitely check out the company. Curious about mileage and price.
Thank You, Just what we all need .looks like a fine base to build off . A tout would be VERRY GOOD .
These platforms are very popular in Australia for touring and off road use I personally would love to have the dual cab version as a good alrounder
Saw similar trucks multiple times in the alps.
Yes to the tour!!!
I’d love to have one of those. The possibilities are endless which this truck
Casey, YES on the shop tour.
As always, I love your videos. I too would love to see a video tour of the factory. Keep up the great, entertaining, and educational videos.
A Very Happy And Blessed Father's Day to You, Casey and All the other Dad's in your lives!💙🦸🏼♂️💙 GOD BLESS YOU ALL ABUNDANTLY!🙏🏻😇🙏🏻
That is one capable truck, Casey. Perfect color for your company. Would you use ramps or having a tilt-bed with winch system?
A real god crane would do a lot of that if it's big enough and he can use the same equipment he already uses also and then he gets the double capacity! He has already shown a lot of examples when a crane would have been a great tool!
Now I want one for sure!!! I can dream, can't I??? Thanks for sharing!!
Just wow! Truly impressive upfit. Looks so very capable with lots of room to modify as needs require. A plant tour would be really great.
YES on a tour! Seeing it work in a video is good, but the gearheads out here will eat up a tour of the manufacturing facilities. If you can show the whole package, even if it's on more than one truck, that would be awesome.

Hi Casey, looks to be a capable ORRV candidate. Have you ever considered the Mercedes Unimog 2.5. I drove them in the Rhodesian terrorist war and I was never once stumped for being able to cross almost any terrain. During our driving tests they made us stop, in gear and no parking brake on and shut off the engine. You then started it without touching the clutch, on the starter which if memory serves, was a 7.5 HP on it's own. Through the four speed manual transmission, transfer case, low range, 4wd, and locked differentials, the diesel would fire right up, and it would climb right out of that hole like a jackrabbit.
It not only had, with high and low ranges, eight forward speeds but those same 8 ratios were also available in reverse so getting out of a situation backwards wasn't a problem either.
The only problem that might scare you might be the price.
Happy new year and regards from Canada's banana belt.
👍❄️🇨🇦🍌🥋🇺🇲🕊️🇺🇦🤞
And oh yes to a factory tour.
Wow 🥺!! Glad you're feeling better 😀 about the truck 🤠❤️. It's your decision to make. The power and performance are impressive 🤣. Matt could have saved many sleepless nights and fabrication process and allot of work and time. IT will be very interesting if you join the tow truck 🤠 challenge with all the boys, Matt Rory Paul BSF and all who perform. I think it's a winner for you!!! Wish you success 🤠❤️🥳
Yes I would like to see because that truck would make nice off road camper !
I was wondering when you’d discover Earthcruiser. I may buy one of their overland rigs for full time travel. Lance and his people are forever innovating. 😉
Good looking and capable truck. I had fraternity brothers leave me and another pledge to find ourselves back to campus after a night of bar hopping. We were young freshmen and didn't know our way around the outskirts of Youngstown, Ohio. The brothers had a good laugh when we finally got back the next day!
That's pretty cool. I'd love to throw on a camper build on the back with a hitch mount for my Tiger 900 Rally and go exploring.
Test drove that thing at the same location and loved it! It handled the terrain more smoothly than my built LS swapped Jeep Rubicon. Still working on the "how to pay for it" part of the program...
Would love a factory tour! Also, would love to see you actually use it on a recovery. That would tell the tale.

yes I would love to have you do a tour of that truck manufacturer. any tours of places that normal folks can't get to is alright with me! thanks Bob from Virginia USA
Strange that they start as a 6x2... These things (Isuzu trucks) come in a 4x4 chassis.. is that just a case of not being able to get them in the States? Very capable looking rig tho, some nice upgrades! Front driveshaft seems quite low/exposed.
Yes to the factory tour tho, need to see more of these and where they go to work...
No 4x4 available in the untied states
I'm in Australia and there are numerous agencies (fire fighting, railways, electricity suppliers... The same market essentially) who use these as factory 4x4s, but I gotta say these units do seem to be tougher than the factory version.
What a lovely soft roader
Definitely like to see a tour. When are you taking delivery of yours? :) Would you leave the flat bed on, or make changes, if you bought one?
A factory tour would be great, I work as an electrical assembler where we build road striping trucks so it would be cool to see what another shop looks like.
That's a cool truck. The drive shaft and transfer case hanging down kinda worries me but it seems like a pretty solid mount on the transfer case and it's not meant for rock crawling. That would make a cool recovery rig. I'm thinking it would be really cool in RV form. I've driven some cab over rigs, I can imagine it's probably a weird experience to get used to offroad on steep angles. It looks fun.
If you are going to look at doing an RV build, you may need to carefully consider the chassis flex at 8.30 onwards?
You probably need to carefully consider how you are going to attach the body, and allow for the flex?
I wouldn't be surprised to start seeing these show up in Alaska.
I would love to see a factory tour. What a cool truck!! Would be a great platform for an expedition/overland truck too.
Nice, this would a make a great tow truck, camper etc. Matts off road would like this also....love the channel & yes tour of the shop would be interesting
Can you fit the trianglar shaped snow tracks on each wheel? The same as you had on your winter time deep snow recovery vehicle? An interesting challenge!
yes you can get tracks for trucks of this size IF you have the $10K+ for them.
Yes you can
@@Torthak way more than that lol
What's ten grand more on a $160,000 truck?
Hahaha, that was my first thought in the intro... "cabover on tracks please?"
A meme of Casey eating his words...now that would be epic!! 🤣
I'm starting a bandwagon for a Shop Tour...who's with me??!! 👍
The only thing I could see it needs is skid plates 👍
Yes, on seeing the shop.
Just an observation,
If they are aiming to the fire truck, bush truck rescue scene, they should better go with 16 inch wheels, or if brake envelope is too large than go with 18 inch wheels.
17 inch tires are mostly the lowest weight rated between these options.
I am not sure why is that, but sure enough you will find more off-road worthy higher weight rated tires for 16 and 18 inch wheels than for 17's.
Don't know about 37's but 34.5 and 35's are available up to 129 load index for 18 inch wheels.
Which should get you around 8000 Lbs optinsl rating for the rear axle (if the axle complies).
Always loved forward controls, this one looks very nice.
Thank you for the interesting content
Of course a factory tour would be nice. Interesting vehicle.
A tour would be swell! Just out of curiosity, what are the feasibilities off putting a rollback bed on something like this?
Awesome truck… thanks buddy..
is this Casey's entry for the off-road tow-truck Olympics ??
I would love to see that, tow mater, hot rod tow truck, worlds largest off-road wrecker, Clifford. That would be sweet
Factory tour! Nice performing truck.
That's a pretty interesting setup. Put a dump bed on it and it would work great for those campsite cleanups. Would be interesting to see what it can do when loaded to capacity. That t-case seems really far back too.
Make a great base for overland RV rig too
@@yatzi1980 looking at their website, I think that was their initial target buyer. Looks like they're branching out into other areas too. Good idea given the economy. Got to diversify to survive.
@@dangerrangerlstc you can just buy the flat bed version and bolt on any tiny house you want lol and you’re good to go!
Factory tour? Yes!! Please don't leave us hanging.
Weak point might be excessively long low hanging 2 piece front driveshaft.
Just sitting hear and watching I could think of about 20 uses for that truck. From fire fighting to farming, ranching, .utility work and much more. 👍🇺🇲
Only bad thing I can see us how low that driveline is. It would constantly worry me 😊
Yes for the factory tour.
With the large wheelbase, I would like to see more ground clearance.
I noticed that the drive shaft is somewhat too low and exposed. High center could result in a bent drive shaft. I would think the breakover clearance should be much higher on a truck like that unless rough terrain isn't in the plan.
Just remember a crew cab full size wheelbase is around 156"
That would make a heck of a tow/ recovery truck. Although I can’t imagine the price of it. Then all the work and money to get it set up. Wow. Stay safe and God Bless
Isusu make them 4x4 its called a NPS
You miss the part that said they weren't available in the US anymore?
@@dangerrangerlstc Yes I did miss that part
Hi Casey. Got my calculater out and did some quick figuring, Her in country victoria we are paying $ 2,26 per litre for diesel = $ 8.55 an american gallon. Gas works out to approximately $ 8.18 per American gallon. We have a 2 litre turbo diesel Skoda waqon. Averages 8 to 900 Kilometres per 45 to 50 litres. Hope thiis will give you a good comparison base. Alex
Absolutely 100% would love a tour of their shop
Too bad they blew me off every time I tried 🤷🏻♂️
Yes I'd like to see a tour of the factory/shop!
Yes on the factory tour!
Are you kidding man? Tour the factory! I love your channel for the cool off-road rigs pulling people out especially if you do it in such a cool rig like that especially after having driven such monsters myself during my Army days. Rubber side down man and happy wheeling
That was really fun Casey….yup seeing the shop would be good to see. ❤️🇦🇺🇺🇸
Yes Would Love To See Them Build The Trucks
Better than expected for sure.
Well hell yea!! Bring on the tour!
Yes please, a shop tour would be a great idea.
Definite yes on the factory tour!

I work at an Isuzu dealership here in Portland and I got to see this thing in person. What a machine. It had 2 4x8x1/2 steel plates strapped on the back. That truck cruises nicely at 70 on the freeway. No other truck has the turning radius of an Isuzu.
Absolutely yes to a shop tour.
Heck yeah on the factory tour. Neat truck.
Lol, silly Casey, of course we want the TOUR... Thanx !

THANK YOU FOR SHARING THE VIDEO
FROM AUSTRALIA AS HAVE HERE AS 4X4 TRUCK
Yes on a tour!
Yes man. Let's see the factory pleeeese. The big question is -- Can it have tracks?
Yes it can
Off road recovery vehicle rodeo, we may be seeing the winner 👍🏼🤩
Larger tires, longer suspension and shorten the frame. Add a few winches and recovery crane 🏗
That is a cool overlanding truck it would be cool to see the factory!🇨🇦
you can run the front axle with a hydraulic winch motor off a pump. many times you can use the powersteering pump. This gets rid of the front low hanging drivesahfts. Or put 3 carrier bearings in the front shaft to get it up into the frame and not so likely to get bent.
that is gorgeous, i dont like alot of cabovers but i like this, would like to see more vids about em
