    I was also a student there before leaving to study in the United States. I was quite shy when I was there, so I didnt make many friends. Thank you for sharing your video. It evoked a lot of nostalgic feelings for me

    My biggest disappointment with Vietnamese students (those from Vietnam) is the immutable, inextricable, thousand-year-old cultural problem of rote learning, also known in Vietnamese as "từ chương." Paired with rote learning is the lack of analytical, critical thinking. The most difficult thing to teach them is empiricism, the notion that knowledge comes from cogitating and inferring external evidence - not from a book - is alien to many. Lastly, another problem well parroted is "học phải đi đôi với hành" but, like another rote learning, is never practiced. Here is an example: I often gave the following problem to students, and none of the Vietnamese students ever volunteered an answer (either they didn't know or were too shy to answer): In ancient China, the lunar eclipse was explained as the moon being eaten by the heavenly dog. The solution was to beat the drum loudly, which scared the heavenly dog and it would spit out the moon. This solution worked every single time, never failed. Is that a good explanation? why and why not? I have never had a single Vietnamese student in my class give an answer. Other students including those from China, India answered it correctly, of course.

Is there any scientific proof to support your ancient Chinese mythology story? Your ancient Chinese myth clearly explained why China with a population of 1.4 billion people, has totally failed to produce any world famous mathematician, despite the fact that Chinese students have won the most gold medals in the World Championship Mathematics Competitions known as International Mathematical Olympiads [IMO]. In Vietnam, we call them, "mọt sách"; they literally eat every word and swallow every page of any books. By contrast, Vietnam with a population of 100 million has produced the world famous mathematician Ngô Bảo Châu, who participated in the 29th and 30th International Mathematical Olympiads (IMO) and became the first Vietnamese student winning two IMO gold medals, one of them he won with a perfect score (42/42). He is the first Vietnamese national to have received the Fields Medal in 2010. His achievement was selected by Time as one of the Top Ten Scientific Discoveries of 2009.

    Did you get inspiration from Paulo from Tokyo or Asian Boss? I can tell it looks like a low-budget Paulo. Btw if you come back to the US, check out the mills area in Orlando, FL it's like a mini little Saigon.
