I love your work Dr. Cowan. I started watching about a decade ago now, when I was only 10. It's amazing how you're able to condense advanced forecasting into such an enjoyable & easily understandable tidbit! I'm far inland, but your videos make it easy and fun to learn this stuff.
A stationary for 36h right over the gulf stream will give plenty steam to this system the 3 or for 4 knot current will renew the heat content permanently under his center you are right for the risk of rapide intensification maybe a strong cat 3 with 950mb at landfall
Thanks Levi for your science-based and data-driven information when it comes to tropical systems and weather. So many will try to sensationalize these storms and not present actual data and facts. I live in south Georgia and we felt the effects of hurricane Michael in 2018. Watching TD10 very closely as current projections have it on a very similar path. Again, thanks for all you do for us weather geeks that actually enjoy the scientific side of weather and tropical systems.
There was an expectation for slower development yesterday. The storm is not quite going off to the races today (certainly not "rapid intensification", defined as 30 kt in 24 hours), but it is developing a little more quickly.
Thanks on 9/28/22 your clear coincise information helped me through Hurricane Ian in Placida, Fl. We lost everything on our 37 ft C&C sailboat. I'll stay connected to your insights for the rest of my life as i see it, I thank you.
any shifts West towards pensacola is what im keeping an eye out for. rn this gives me bad vibes for tampa bay. i would love some rain. but i feel like tampa bay is in deep trouble from Ian's big sister i could see a terrible storm surge event in Tampa Bay
@@ChrisMFlorida If you do known or remember ..20 hours straight extreme solid rain fall from 2 or 3 tropical storms in the last 12 years. Made me worry about my crawl space filling with flood water.. But TG. Not.
Thanks for the heads up. It's so hot in The Florida Panhandle, all appliances that have to do with producing cold, are producing warmer temperature. People shouldn't push the AC too strong to low temperatures. I thought it was just the AC, but also the water dispenser machine and ice maker.
keep all the filters and grids clean ..fridge and air conditioner..stock freezer fulll so it holds the temp better and fridge will run less..yes insulation also
I don't live in that neck of the woods, but I learn a lot from your videos. You talked about SST, do they also have access to ARGO data on deep ocean heat? You talked about airplane fly-through data. Are they using drones also? They might also use undersea drones, n'est-ce pas?
Mike at mike’s weather page says he doesn’t understand wind sheer one bit but still talking about the development of this storm. Wind sheer & fronts can greatly affect development one way or the other correct?
Thanks for update. This makes sense....gfs is horrible the past few runs are not making senses/gliches? Euro has been accurate but more I think about this I do agree with the run I am seeing...I think landfall will be Tampa or bit south maybe ....nothing is out of the picture I been thinking hurricane cat 1 for awhile maybe 3-4wks now for this storm...and here it is. Now would like to see what aircrafts see and what the real cone will show. I do not want a hit in Fl at all maybe just rain no hurricanes, we have to be prepared. Hope to hear from you more updates tomorrow please....thank you Dr Cowan.
I am so anxious. The forecasts have been targeting where I live, and I don’t know what I am going to do if I have to evacuate. My cat is hospitalized right now and I have no idea how the next few days are going to go.
@@ADDICTEDTOFORECASTING That's not true, hurricane names only repeat every 6 years. Irma was in 2017 and now 6 years later in 2023 it has been replaced by Idalia. Hurricane Ida was in 2021 and it will be replaced with Imani for the 2027 season.
@@ADDICTEDTOFORECASTING I gotcha but I was just clarifying that Idalia did not replace Ida and Ida did not replace Irma; Idalia replaced Irma. Please forgive my weather nerd autism.

Someday I'd like to see Dr. Cowan director of the National Hurricane Center
I love these Tropical updates!! Keep up the good work!!
The dreaded I named storms (Ivan, Irma, Ida, Ian, and now Idalia.) HWRF, HMON, HAFS 18Z runs all show CAT 3.

Michael took a similar path and exploded beyond expectations. Wouldn’t surprise me if this reached cat 3

Eye on flooding rain dangers here in Jacksonville( if nessesary). City has redredged drainage ditches in my area.

That particular part of the basin usually has deep warm water, so lingering east of the Yucatan will not be much of a hindrance for TD 10.
