  • Old Ben Franklin had a locker where he kept his most valuable possessions. Nay his writings, nor ideas. 'Twas the cash. He was so protective of his loot that he devised an elaborate contraption to keep it all locked safely away. Now Ben is long gone. Can you follow his clues and solve the puzzle to his cash?

      My son and I finished building it this past week. Definitely the hardest part was scrounging up the pieces from my son’s (and daughter’s) LEGOs. We had to steal some pieces from some finished models - mainly 1x2 axle bricks and the 2x2 corner tiles - and improvise or swap out other pieces for ones we didn’t have or didn’t have enough of. I found that we didn’t need all those 1x2 axle bricks near the end. Many of them could be swapped out with the more common 1x2 hole bricks. Also, a good place to find the 2x2 corner tiles are in brick head models.

    • @madsjakobsen9824
      @madsjakobsen9824 4 роки тому +2

      ick5353 yeah i have quite alot of lego and i did manage to get it done by improvising, and i think that is also the satisfying thing about it. It took me a couple of days and the hardest bricks for me were also the 2x2 corner tiles. But i was also really satisfying to finally get it done when you feel that you have added your touch to it. :)

    I came from Chris Ramsay's video.
    Liked and subbed because this is awesome.
    But Chris skipped half the puzzle, he ended up not using the cabinet or the flipped key, which I think is a big shame considering how brilliant those parts were.
    He wiggled the minor key until the stopper cash plate moved out of its place. Is there a way to prevent that from happening?

      Is ok. I still count it legit. It’s part of the puzzle. When we play Nintendo, we find glitches in the game, and it BECOMES part of the game.
      Did you know that Street Fighter 2 combos are a glitch? It was not designed like that.
      Combo attacks later became “canon” in Street Fighter 2.

    ARE YOU GUYS ON TWITTER/SOCIAL?
    Did Taurus, Picasso, now I'm here. Shocked I have the parts! Beauty of Lego, easy to tweak to suit what you have/don't have. Made the window bigger, just making a slot instead of Technic Rail groove is simple, fallen mast with 2 axles works fine... I love these puzzles but now I'm out of all manner of 2x2 corners...

    • @cheat3puzzles
      @cheat3puzzles  4 роки тому

      Glad you’re enjoying. Corners are disproportionately used as structural elements in our boxes because they let us zig and zag without sacrificing much strength. Also. You can even have fallen mast with 1 axle6 and not protrude all through the other side. That disguises the first move a little more. But an easy first move is important to keep your friends from giving up before they even get started.

      Plates and tiles are the thinnest Lego. Bricks are the thicker Lego. It takes three plates stacked to equal a brick. Plates and bricks have studs on top. Tiles are smooth on top. I'm new to Lego but this is what I've learned. Hope this helped👍

    While building this I noticed an alternative to the clipped axel. You could use a 5.5 double axel with stop insert it long end into the technic brick replacing the outer technic brick with a cross with a technic brick with a hole, it just barely hangs in to the button it's attached to, although it hangs out of the box a little bit. I found it to slide a little easier as well as it makes an alternative to breaking bricks.

    @cheat3 I’m having so much fun with this! It’s my first LEGO puzzle box.
    One modification I made was using two 1x2 bricks at the end of the fallen mast. Mine was being fiddly at first because I wouldn’t push the first money tile all the way forward, clearing the way for the key. However, that just may be me making it easier: I’m making the 2x2 brick in the lock and the 1x2 brick in the button red so they are more obvious. And I’m considering ordering 1x2 tiles with arrows for the major key to instruct the solver to push. I know that’s putting training wheels on it, but I really want them to do it “own their own”.
    My brother’s birthday is next month. He’s an engineer and a Lego guy! I can’t wait ... my only regret is I don’t want to share the channel with him for another 3 weeks because otherwise he’ll be spoiled!
    Question: how did you assemble the Ben Franklin mini fig for the thumbnail? I’ve got Dumbeldore face, Flich hair ... whose body did you use?
    Thanks so much!

      So glad you are making it your way. Arrow tiles might make it easier to just hand over to a friends. I love making puzzles more social! The torso is “adventurers jungle suit, brown vest, black tie”... but I modified the color to navy. It’s a computer generated image.

      By mistake I put it so you now have to tap the puzzle a bit for the 1x1 tile to move out of the way for the 2x1. And after that you can push in the middle lock.
      Btw. Really nice instructions. But some times you forgot to show what piece you used. But overall, great clip.

      You could try it! It could ruin the brick. I would try cleaning the pieces first. We've also noticed that there is some variance from brick to brick so you could also swap out the button pieces and see if others aren't as tight.
