    Adam, it's not about the size of the piece you are machining, it's more about the complexity, skills and processes used. It's always a pleasure to watch you work.

    Just adding my voice regarding the Legacy Series. I like the purpose the Legacy series fulfills. There are going to be time when you will be unable to do a new video every week. So a replay of an "Oldie but goodie" is a great Idea. So You tubers think they must publish new content and not create new video of subject already done. I for one don't agree. I watch yours' and other's video so I can learn about a hobby I can never get enough video. So even though so may not like the replays. I'm not one of them. Just don't over do it, please! Saturdays are always better with a video from Abom79.

    As I said at the time, Motion was short sighted with their video ban. I remember you were taking your personal tools to work to benefit them and bringing items home to complete in your workshop. Also, they couldn’t buy that kind of advertising showing the work and quality.

    I have watched all the sns videos since number 1. Took me ages to get the back numbers done since I subscribed about number 130. I dont remember this particular video but the value of the whole channel is the inspiration it engenders for me in my small personal machine shop. I have about half adam’s machine capacity. Had to make a pulley for my car to replace a plastic one that cracked and no spares available. I was inspired by the channel to make my own. Tony

After a crash he had me sweeping a pocket on my cnc lathe to see if it the turret was out with my $5 mag base I got out of the back of a van haha. The service guy very kindly showed me the proper way to do it.

    Adam, it is always a learning experience to watch your videos! Not only do you know a ton but you have a very good presence in your dialog. Thank you for yesteryear and for today! FWIW from a physicist perspective: You may have been able to get rid of the chatter (vibrations) by clamping some heavy mass to the top on both front and back sides (to counterbalance). Vibrations are always due to a drive mechanism (here the cutter) delivering energy at a certain rate coupled with the natural fundamental frequency of the work piece or one of the higher harmonics. Increasing the mass of the workpiece will change the fundamental frequency and harmonics. Changing the surface speed could also help "de-tune" and also the depth of cut (changes the energy being delivered). Not always an easy problem to solve obviously. Regarding your future plans...it will happen if you want it to. Keep doing what you are doing!

    • @arfonjones7188
      @arfonjones7188 2 роки тому

      Were the theorists to extend their input by creating a program that simulates the vibrations for a particular setup, and one that can accept (or even generate) alterations to the rig to minimise them, then it would be a very useful tool on the shop floor.

My boss was forced to buy a 3 point iD micrometer. He had to buy it to match the other company we do work for. And the parts are used for a f35 fighter plane.

      I think that more depends on the overall size of the worm piece, the bigger it is the more the heat will dissipate, the smaller the more it will build up and cause warping... also depends on what kind of material, as well as tolerances... the tighter the tolerances the more you're going to want to measure at room temp =)

    I ran a boring mill for the last year of my apprenticeship . A machine from the Czech Republic that had some strange features. Does the Kearns mill have a rotating table?
    I also turned the mill into a giant lathe for a job using the cross slide from a lathe. The disk I was turning (60" dia) was so large I had to walk around it to get to the controls. OSHA would have had a fit if it had been in the USA.
