I enjoyed your thorough review and comparison with the old set. That VEI box set looks cheap but believe me it works well. I have VEI's MOD SQUAD, CANNON, and McCLOUD in exactly those cases and sleeves--no problems. I'm going to upgrade to get THE ROPERS, which I enjoyed first run (made me an early Jeffrey Tambor fan). Norman Fell was awesome! Funny because he started off in dramatic roles on 89th PRECINCT and DAN AUGUST. It's a good time to be a Suzanne Somers fan with the complete STEP BY STEP also released.
I own the original season sets that came in the digi packs. The quality has to be better than these due to the fact there are less episodes per disc. Same masters used on these I would assume..I just want the Ropers and Threes a Crowd. I just dont see paying 70 bucks for just those.
Now that you mention it, I believe it may have been on sale at the time. I initially found out about it from an ad on Facebook. So that's probably what it was.
I never bought any of the previous sets so I'm interested in picking this up. Is the picture quality & sound pretty good? Great video thanks for sharing.
I did do a comparison between these two sets, and the quality seemed about the same from what I could tell. Which was pretty good, clear quality to me. I'm no technical expert, but it looks and sounds good to me.
I purchased the old Season 3 as an individual season. The discs were in there so tight I cracked the case trying to get them out. I wonder if that was an issue on some of the previous complete series box sets for Three's Company.
There are 3 discs to a season (except for season 1) with about 9 episodes to a disc. The previous set had 4 discs to a season with 6 episodes per disc, so they are slightly more condensed. The picture and sound seem identical from what I can tell.
@@SuperMarioBrosIII admittedly, I'm no expert, but the picture and sound quality didn't seem much different. If there is, the average viewer won't notice.
WRONG!!! THE FIRST BOX SET [AND INDIVIDUAL RELEASES] DID ''NOT'' CONTAIN THE TWO ''ROPERS'' EPISODES [ONE OF WHICH WAS THE PILOT OF THE NEW SERIES]!!! I ALWAYS RESENTED THEM FOR OMITTING THEM! THEY WERE SHOWN IN SINDICATION AS THREE'S COMPANY EPISODES BUT WERE DEFINITELY ''NOT'' ON THE EARLIER ANCHOR BAY RELEASES! JUST SAYING!
@@thomasc3877 That's interesting because I'm pretty sure the versions I had had those episodes, but it's quite possible I could be mistaken. Wouldn't be the first time. lol

I'm glad The Ropers and Three's Crowd series are finally on DVD but I hate the VEI packaging of the DVD discs
I'm not a fan, either, but I'm glad I can finally get the whole series with The Ropers and Three's a Crowd.

Was it really ~$40 USD at some point? I see it for $69 on Visual Entertainment's site. Great review!

@@chuck31it was based on man about the house here in the UK as you said
Sleeves will scratch the discs wish It had a better way to hold the discs

What is the quality like? How many discs are there per season? Some box sets put too many episodes on each disc reducing the quality.

Are there subtitles on the new one? I saw closed caption on the side
The closed captioning definitely works. It came on automatically when I tested out a disc. I had to turn them off.
@@chuck31 Well I heard the quality of the DVDS is lower then the last release?
