Great video, thank you for showing the entire train. Far too many train videos just show the power and a few cars, I like seeing the whole thing like I was there. Very nice.
I only skip the middle in my youtube videos if they are unit trains because seeing tanker after tanker or autorack after autorack for minutes straight gets really boring.
I searched the term railfanning... i never thought i had this kind of feeling of loving trains so much since i was a kid 😭 not until i learn there is a term for people like me.. sorry, we had few, old trains in our country
Very simple filming, but very dense and fascinating, about the speed et length of these trains, I agree with your appreciation of this day ! Tank you for sharing
Mentor Ohio is a great place to watch trains! I used to watch trains in that exact spot back in the 90's when it was conrail and still go there every time I visit Ohio 👍🏼. I laughed when you were running over to the NS line I've done that many times.
noticing where 4175 is labeled "Under Warranty" - wonder what kind of warranty you get on a locomotive, and I wonder if the fine print says "Warranty void if product used for other than intended purpose".
Awesome just awesome is how I feel, I've been railfaning 35 years and I've never seen anything like this video, it's every thing and then some. The best ,thank you for sharing it.
Nice new approach to attention to detail. Loved the effort to " zoom in thru trees" at 200 or so yards!! Great. Serious main line action. Impressed TY. Love to see more Signal Reads..pre arrival.
Great video . The BNSF oil train at 7:20 and 34:00 was really cool. That spot to the right of the bridge is a great place to train watch , must be a very long stretch of straight track the trains cruise through there ...
I must admit that watching these videos is much more educational and entertaining than turning on daytime TV. Doctor and Dentist Waiting rooms could benefit from showing these as an upgrade to talk shows and Leftists news shows.
I don't mind at all. I simply use my video camera to record (no tripod), import my videos to my laptop with PlayMemories (which auto-organizes my videos when I import), and use windows movie maker to edit. Nothin special :)
That first train chopping throttles was "OK, let's see how far we'll coast with a few million pounds shoving now". That made me watch entire video. Nice work.
I knew as soon as I saw it, that was the Center Street Bridge. Every time I go back home to visit I make sure I go to that lot and get some photos! Love, it... Homesick.
Erie West Sub Productions, thanks for the video. I'm pretty sure those wind turbine blades are the same ones that go by my house in Magnolia Texas all the time. If I remember correctly they are manufactured in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Pretty cool to see them all the way up in Ohio, if they are the same ones. BTW, I grew up in upstate New York and have spent some time in the Erie area (NY,PA and OH). Although, I've only really "been through" OH, haven't had a chance to spend a lot of time there yet.
Cool! I do believe that this turbine train originated from that area. The area I railfan has almost the exact same rail traffic as Erie. There are some good spots just west of cleveland to see trains, like Berea.
I've never seen Pan Am units this far west, and you caught one on both CSX and NS! In theory they should be frequent on NS since NS partners with Pan Am for Boston traffic, but CSX is Pan Am's competitor for same. Good catch on the safety train cars and the former Amtrak express boxcar.
Dude, your extremely lucky. Rarely ever get anything through here that I can catch, let alone something really interesting, and I have two class one railroads running through this area.
I would imagine that if had to sell or rent a house, condo, apartment alongside a railroad, something sane people avoid, these videos for people mesmerized by watching trains would be the ideal place to put those kinds of ads, yet I never see those kinds of ads. .
I saw a truck hauling one of these thru Roswell NM last week and they had 4 escort vehicles traveling with it along with a local escort of a couple of city police cars.
I seen them windmill blades on a semi before and they are absolutely massive and he had cars of them. When he took off I could feel the power through my phone
Awesome. The trains in your area have places to be obviously. Here in north florida they just drag along. Short line stuff though so i cant talk bad about them.
except for some (to me) boring unit trains of tankers, this was wonderful. Just one word of advice for future video --> SUN AT YOUR BACK (photographers mantra)
Thanks! And lol, I agree. If you check out some of my newer content I have learned that technique. I drive all over the place to get the best lighting if I can. I can't believe I used to shoot directly into the sun :D
Doh! Sorry. Just trying to be helpful.. there were many times in this video I was like, "walk ACROSS the tracks!" and "OTHER side!".. but of course, the computer ignored me ;) I will definitely look at your other videos.
Lol I tell my old self that a lot too :D. Thanks for the advice and don't worry about it, I was VERY inexperienced at picture taking and thought any angle would be good for a video. Actually, if I wanted to get to the other side, I would have had to get my mom to drive across the bridge. Both the police of mentor and the Railroad Police won't let anyone set foot on the tracks, even to cross.
Great watching the wind turbine train notch it all the way up. Was he trying to get ahead of a following train or just had to make it to then crew change point before he ran out of hours?
9:56 is Pan Am power common here? 15:00 nice catch of a CEFX wide cab leading CP units! 16:31 it can be hard to find intermodal cars mixed with other types of cars! I've only seen it been done twice in person! 18:56 those little containers are hard to find too! I never knew what they carry! 30:15 I don't think I've ever seen wind turbine parts moved by train in person! I've also never seen Army equipment moved by train before either! I'm surprised you didn't catch a heritage unit in this video!
I can kinda answer some of your questions. At 16:31 sometimes empty stack cars are mixed with general freight to reposition equipment in this case, the containers might be needed for loading elsewhere. There are exceptions to this and those could be loaded containers by some chance. At 18:56 those garbage containers I've seen them loaded with medical waste going to the incinerator, contaminated soil, radioactive waste and probably other stuff that I don't know about.
Amazing catches! That windmill train...left me speechless except for the words I'm about to say, and the words I said. You should change the title to,"BEST Day Railfanning In My Entire Life! Windmill train, Foregin Power, Close Calls, and much, much more railfanning (whatever name of the town(s) you were railfanning in here)"
HOW is the track upgrading to fully welded on concrete ties going ? are AMTRAK and Union Pacific the only railroad companies taking up this ESSENTIAL UPGRADING ?
33:08 not long ago I went to see the Christmas train in Gurnee Ilinois, along the the way we past 5 train yards. One of the yards had 2 Burlington northern engines just sitting in the yard. Once we passed that we passed a double set of tracks .at 33:08 that train u saw, I saw a train just like that stopped on one of the tracks, with a Emd Union Pacific leader.
Dude be careful where you station your tripod I noticed from 14:00 to end of video the high speed of the trains is creating a wind wake disturbance that has powerline over the tracks (the line was also directly over your cam) noticeably swaying. It's unusual to see those type lines swaying with normal breeze conditions.
Thanks and yes it is! The Deekers Sidetracks building was used here in Mentor, Ohio about a hundred years ago or so as a station for passenger service. There used to be 4 tracks that ran through here, but now there are only 2. And this spot is not commonly known for it's history of the deadly 20th Century Limited wreck in 1905 at this exact spot.
Some might be bored watching trains, but remember people watch Golf on TV which is like seeing grass grow. A mind is a terrible thing to waste, even a stupid one.
Very professional video. No jumping all around. I really enjoyed it.
Thank you!
Great video, thank you for showing the entire train. Far too many train videos just show the power and a few cars, I like seeing the whole thing like I was there. Very nice.
Thanks! Glad you liked it!
i am in she same boat. all my vids show the entire train unless i run out of space while filming it.
Dolby1000 really? I'm the opposite. I like the power, and the end of the trains. Lol
I only skip the middle in my youtube videos if they are unit trains because seeing tanker after tanker or autorack after autorack for minutes straight gets really boring.
Trainzguy 2472 yah
I searched the term railfanning... i never thought i had this kind of feeling of loving trains so much since i was a kid 😭 not until i learn there is a term for people like me.. sorry, we had few, old trains in our country

It's difficult to appreciate the scale of those wind turbines until you see them up close like that. Very enjoyable video!
Very simple filming, but very dense and fascinating, about the speed et length of these trains, I agree with your appreciation of this day !
Tank you for sharing

Hand laundering only. Don't machine dry. Iron gently on low temperature. Store on dress hanger when not used.
Excellent Excellent job on the filming. The camera work was outstanding, thank you for showing your valuable skillsset.
Awesome just awesome is how I feel, I've been railfaning 35 years and I've never seen anything like this video, it's every thing and then some. The best ,thank you for sharing it.
Thanks man! It means a lot! Never thought I would be able to catch such great stuff all in one day, but somehow it happened!
Nice new approach to attention to detail. Loved the effort to " zoom in thru trees" at 200 or so yards!! Great. Serious main line action. Impressed TY. Love to see more Signal Reads..pre arrival.
Thanks!
Great video . The BNSF oil train at 7:20 and 34:00 was really cool.
That spot to the right of the bridge is a great place to train watch , must be a very long stretch of straight track the trains cruise through there ...
I had never seen wind turbine blades on a train before. Only on the road. Very Cool!!
Thanks! This was one of the few wind turbine trains to take the CSX Erie West Subdivision.
We see unit trains all over the West and Southwest.
Few routes can accommodate them; no tight turns!
They're even bigger in real life!
Where are the blades manufactured?
Merry Christmas, EXCELLENT SHOT. I wish I was there. The best part is that you caught it on my Bday. Thanks for Sharing.
Thanks and thats cool! No problem.
I must admit that watching these videos is much more educational and entertaining than turning on daytime TV. Doctor and Dentist Waiting rooms could benefit from showing these as an upgrade to talk shows and Leftists news shows.
Go get a lottery ticket
43 miniatures of my life I will never get back. And I frggin happy about that!
WOW!!! those turbine blades are HUGE. Awesome video my man.
Thanks!
ACe Railfan. You're welcome. What equipment do you use for your video work, if you don't mind my asking?
I don't mind at all. I simply use my video camera to record (no tripod), import my videos to my laptop with PlayMemories (which auto-organizes my videos when I import), and use windows movie maker to edit. Nothin special :)
That first train chopping throttles was "OK, let's see how far we'll coast with a few million pounds shoving now". That made me watch entire video. Nice work.
Wow, I would have a woodie all day with that type of action! Great video dude!
The windmill train was awesome. That's 21st century railroading. I wonder if anyone has modeled that yet in HO? The hobby lives on!
Very cool shots, especially the windmill train! Greetings from Germany :)
i love those two long trains of nothing but tank cars. Thanks for an outstanding video
I knew as soon as I saw it, that was the Center Street Bridge. Every time I go back home to visit I make sure I go to that lot and get some photos! Love, it... Homesick.
Yes! This is definitely a very distinct location for train watching!
The windmill train was a crazy cool catch. I had no idea they were so massive. Nice!
All in one day, huh? Pretty lucky. Thanks for sharing.
Almost 100k views! Great job!!
Erie West Sub Productions, thanks for the video. I'm pretty sure those wind turbine blades are the same ones that go by my house in Magnolia Texas all the time. You had a GRRRRREAT day of railfanning! Love It, and subscribed too! :)
Thanks!

Some great catches there friend.....thanks for sharing
Anybody else notice that the UP train was the slowest train? This film is true to life.
Dude, your extremely lucky. Rarely ever get anything through here that I can catch, let alone something really interesting, and I have two class one railroads running through this area.
I would imagine that if had to sell or rent a house, condo, apartment alongside a railroad, something sane people avoid, these videos for people mesmerized by watching trains would be the ideal place to put those kinds of ads, yet I never see those kinds of ads. .
Wow, lucky day, thanks for posting!
Wow wish I was there that day.i will never forget this day if I was with you
That's a nice spot to watch trains in Mentor
Fantastic thanks 🙏 it's really moving some stuff
Have watched a lot of train videos and thinking of getting into rail fanning Live in Miami, Fl.
I see trains almost all the time great video.and I almost got hit by a coin that I placed on the track that an Amtrak ran over
This man had a very good day today!
Bruh you deserve more subscribers. Liked and subscribed!
Thanks man! I'm still growing but its finally starting to pick up!
Nice video and nice catches! Keep up the good work!
Great video! Never seen you channel before....just subbed! Also content! Great catches
Thanks for sharing this is a great video
I saw a truck hauling one of these thru Roswell NM last week and they had 4 escort vehicles traveling with it along with a local escort of a couple of city police cars.
The windmill blades are really cool
You were right GREAT day of railfanning ....
Awesome video TY for sharing
Awesome catches!
Great catches boss keep up the good work
So much good stuff!
Subscribed!
Thank you!
nice video good position and top quality, some great trains too
Thank you!
this proves that there can be better things than heritage units
I seen them windmill blades on a semi before and they are absolutely massive and he had cars of them. When he took off I could feel the power through my phone
Great work !
Guess I have to go back and count. Was there more tankers or wind mill blades (factoring each blade took 2 cars.
Awesome catch. Good quality
Im going to pick up a CX405 soon, the quality is great!
Awesome. The trains in your area have places to be obviously. Here in north florida they just drag along. Short line stuff though so i cant talk bad about them.
Super epic catches!
Also that Conrail Steel Coil car you caught is awesome on the last train. Also that CR Boxcar is to. And though's 2 BN cars at the end.
Unusual loads make a day's railfanning extra sweet.
i you look you can see the wave in the track as each loaded car speeds by you can also see the wave from head units threw the length of the train
You folks in the East probably do not see many BN/UP meets. Great catch!

Thanks for the comments! And no, Pan Am power here is like seeing a heritage unit. They almost never make it all the way to Ohio.
I can kinda answer some of your questions. I love how the the guy (transporting 36 wind turbine blades) bid goodbye to you guys.. 😍
EXCELENTES VIDEOS
¡¡¡CONGRATULATIONS!!!
HOW is the track upgrading to fully welded on concrete ties going ? are AMTRAK and Union Pacific the only railroad companies taking up this ESSENTIAL UPGRADING ?
Cool my dad was on a windmill train and had Union Pacific engines
holy shit. Box cars. And double door box cars. I never see those anymore.
33:08 not long ago I went to see the Christmas train in Gurnee Ilinois, along the the way we past 5 train yards. One of the yards had 2 Burlington northern engines just sitting in the yard. I wish i could do railfanning like that.. :( nice video
If it only had CN and KCS power... it would’ve been the best railfanning day of the 21st century
Nice video! I liked and subscribed.
great job...love it
So many trains. Great catches.
Thanks!
ACe Railfan you're welcome
Exelente video saludos desde México 🇲🇽
Hey Alejandro, que pasa! Saludos desde Vancouver, Canada!
good stuff!..enjoyed the video!
I wonder why they set the blades so high off the cars? The small over lap could be accomplished by angling them up and down.
amazing video , you should try to get on one of the slow moving ones and see where you end up , liked and subbed .
I wish I was there that day!!!!!
Great video
Is that cloud of steam from the Perry Nuclear Generating Station?
dang, how many units was that bnsf tanker trail!
You also caught the 1st CSX ES40DC!
That first train didn't need 4 locomotives
How lucky you were to catch so much action in such a short amount of time! Was that an old station in the background? Where is this wonderful spot?
Thanks and yes it is! The Deekers Sidetracks building was used here in Mentor, Ohio about a hundred years ago or so as a station for passenger service. There used to be 4 tracks that ran through here, but now there are only 2. And this spot is not commonly known for it's history of the deadly 20th Century Limited wreck in 1905 at this exact spot.
Good stuff, Erie West! Love those catfish! None of those consists have any trouble laying on the burn throttle, do they?
Some might be bored watching trains, but remember people watch Golf on TV which is like seeing grass grow. A mind is a terrible thing to waste, even a stupid one.
So many railroads at once
You did make a title it is called BEST
Day Railfanning In My Entire Life! I Can't Even Make a Title! MUST WATCH!
15:03, OMG I SAW THAT EXACT TRAIN WHILE TRAIN WATCHING!!!! INSANE CATCH DUDE!
