  • In this video in Hindi we discussed about shearing stress or tangential, shear strain and shear modulus or modulus of rigidity. Shearing stress is force applied tangentially over the surface area of the plane. Shear strain is displacement of the plane over the distance of that surface from the opposite plane. Shear modulus is the ratio of shearing stress to shear strain. The S.I. unit of shearing stress and shear modulus is N m^(-2) and shear strain is a dimensionless quantity.

The way u defined shear strain. The distance from opposite plane should be less than l?

Hello Shani ! Very nice question ! It seems that you love concepts.
The force we apply on a body is the cause of the internal force of restitution in that body. And the magnitude of both the forces are the same ( Newton's third law ! ), if the body has no acceleration. When people say, shear or longitudinal or hydrostatic force applied by us, they mean to indicate the force we apply on the body. And when they say, shear or longitudinal or hydrostatic force in the body, they mean to indicate the force developed in the body. Are those different? Those are not. Only the point of views are different.
I am sending you the link of a video which covers the above-mentioned explanation:

      Hello Allokie T. !
The video you watched was not in English. The language is Hindi. I think, as this channel has 536 subscribers right now from Western Asia, UA-cam is showing videos from this channel in Arab countries.
We are sorry, if it killed your time.
      God bless you!
