I wouldn’t go that far, but the Nicean creed is certainly creepy. What is creepy about Christianity is Fundementalist, but that comes from George Whitfield. Most of Christianity is a respectable belief system. Its indulgences are the dichotomy of the afterlife, heaven and hell and its painting of the Mesopotamian water spirits (what Bible calls the “glistening one”) as a god of the underworld that menaces people to become sinners). Such ideas are primitive and superstitious. Originally there was no beast associated with the underworld (Kur). Kur means mountain. People used to bury their dead under the floor stones of their house, for that to work the corpses needed to be fleshed, in the Paleolithic people often did this manually. By the Neolithic it appears there were special caves (like Hades) where the cave insects defleshed the dead, people would go collect the bones and bury them under the floorstones in their houses. This made people happy to have their passed ones near to them. The attachment of the afterlife with a reward or punishment system is platonic in nature. Plato believed the world was an imperfect reflection of deistic desires. That the god Zeus (Djeus pater, sky father), did not engage in the storied tales of his followers. That there was a pure form of a god that was “above the clouds”. Both Judaism and Christianity became more Platonic. Paul was a middle platonist, just like Philo of Alexander, by the third and forth century Neoplatonism merged quietly with Christianity. “Both Christians (see Eusebius, Jerome, and Origen) and Pagans (see Porphyry and Plotinus) claimed him [Ammonius Saccas] a teacher and founder of the neoplatonic system. In Yahwist culture people, all people, went to Sheol. But like Greek some believed in a place where bad people were kind of trashed (Gehenna, the Valley of Hinnom). The evidence this actually occurred is not evident.

The passage in Matthew with the shema misquotes the end of it in Greek. The words are different Greek words even when considering the Greek translation of Deuteronomy. “How you going to go and change my Bible?” Says rabbi Singer. It’s obvious that either the author of Mathew misquoted, wasn’t a Jew or that jesus misquoted this most important of Jewish declarations.

Jesus or Yesus, Yeshua or Yahshua or Joshua was a man who lived on this earth and made preachings about God and Ethics. His followers formed a religion called as Christianity.
Yeshua was always telling His followers to not worship him but to worship God. The only reason he stated was the path back to the father is because his whole mission was to renew the covenant of Sinai, that both the 10 Northern Tribes broke and never repented and were lost. As Messiah he came to restore the “Lost sheep of Israel back into the Tribe of Judah, but he had to start with putting the Torah on our hearts, because until the heart is taken care of, it will be impossible to live in a renewed covenant, because ultimately we will break it again. The Torah is the common thread and bond that restores the 12 Tribes back into the land.
there was no place in the book of prophecy where it says the messiah is to put the covenant in the hearts of people rather it will be the God almighty will do that himself. its not the job assign to the messiah.
@ possibly, you are right, Jeremiah doesn’t explicitly say that the Messiah will restore the law in our hearts, he just said it is the will of Elohim for it to be be done. However it is the role of Messiah to restore the entire house of Israel back into the land, which I personally believe will be during the thousand year millennial reign. @andyburns8551 sure it is in Deuteronomy chapter 28. However you need to realise we are purposefully not saying G-d's name. Hashem literally means, 'the name'. We do say proper holy names for G-d when we pray or read the torah etc. Just not in day to day talk to show more reverance for the name of G-d. We might use other terms to like saying in hebrew, the holy one blessed be he. We know what we are doing. What is weird is that you ask this random question in this thread when it has nothing to do with the comment or the reply? What is your problem? Genuinely curious, and I'm proudly Jewish (and not one of those Jews for Jesus types), if the Jesus of the Gospels was basically a creation of Rome, which I believe is the case, then why isn't there more interest in who the historical Jesus was? Maybe he was the polar opposite of the Jesus of the New Testament. If what really happened was that Rome basically hijacked the identity of a Judean Jew called Jesus, who was in fact Jewish, observed the Torah and believed in Hashem, and had a following of devout Jews, for the purpose of using this individual and his followers as a weapon against Judaism, shouldn't we be asking who the real Jesus actually was? Maybe he was a brave man who fought against Roman rule for our people and our religion? This is the one thing I've never understood about the way we Jews view Jesus. It's like we ignore him completely. I can understand that if the Gospel's version of Jesus was accurate, we would deny him for being essentially a false prophet, but if the argument is that Rome invented this version of Jesus and put words in his mouth - and we know that there was a historical Jesus who was murdered by Pontus Pilate (who was a brutal tyrant, unlike his depiction in the New Testament) - shouldn't we be asking who this person REALLY was, instead of just ignoring him completely?

To answer the question of the caller directly: Yes, Jesus’ many ethical teachings, as is written in the NT, are distortions of the true Torah teachings. Jesus’ teaching such as absolute pacifism, hyper-strict criteria for divorce, hating one’s family for Jesus’ name and causes, adoration for the Roman government and their alikes, etc, are all ethical blemishes that will send a person into a life of misery. If one wants to know the correct Torah ethical principles, start with studying the 7 commandments for mankind given through Moses at Sinai.

I'm not Jewish either, like the caller. I am very familiar with the Christian message, but I wrestled with the text and what I believe and don't and often use the Christian text to teach by. I don't lie. Often when I talk about the text I talk about what I do and don't believe about it. Most of the people I talk to are 65+ years old. I don't want to orphan them from G-d, and I know they aren't going to turn away from Christianity, so I think it is more appropriate to talk about what I do and don't believe because I feel I have the ability to steer people away from idolatry, but perhaps talk about how to best accomplish charity through service at a local soup kitchen. When Jesus says that no one can return to the Father but by Me, what He means is that He controls the doorway to heaven. Jesus was not asking for worship. Jesus must approve of you ascending. Jesus or Yesus, Yeshua or Yahshua or Joshua was a man who lived on this earth and made preachings about God and Ethics. His followers formed a religion called as Christianity.
Yeshua was always telling His followers to not worship him but to worship God. @andyburns8551 sure it is in Deuteronomy chapter 28. However you need to realise we are purposefully not saying G-d's name. Hashem literally means, 'the name'. We do say proper holy names for G-d when we pray or read the torah etc. Just not in day to day talk to show more reverance for the name of G-d. We might use other terms to like saying in hebrew, the holy one blessed be he. We know what we are doing.

Genuinely curious, and I'm proudly Jewish (and not one of those Jews for Jesus types), if the Jesus of the Gospels was basically a creation of Rome, which I believe is the case, then why isn't there more interest in who the historical Jesus was? Maybe he was the polar opposite of the Jesus of the New Testament. If what really happened was that Rome basically hijacked the identity of a Judean Jew called Jesus, who was in fact Jewish, observed the Torah and believed in Hashem, and had a following of devout Jews, for the purpose of using this individual and his followers as a weapon against Judaism, shouldn't we be asking who the real Jesus actually was? Maybe he was a brave man who fought against Roman rule for our people and our religion? This is the one thing I've never understood about the way we Jews view Jesus. It's like we ignore him completely. I can understand that if the Gospel's version of Jesus was accurate, we would deny him for being essentially a false prophet, but if the argument is that Rome invented this version of Jesus and put words in his mouth - and we know that there was a historical Jesus who was murdered by Pontus Pilate (who was a brutal tyrant, unlike his depiction in the New Testament) - shouldn't we be asking who this person REALLY was, instead of just ignoring him completely?

I'm not Jewish either, like the caller. I am very familiar with the Christian message, but I wrestled with the text and what I believe and don't and often use the Christian text to teach by. I don't lie. Often when I talk about the text I talk about what I do and don't believe about it. Most of the people I talk to are 65+ years old. I don't want to orphan them from G-d, and I know they aren't going to turn away from Christianity, so I think it is more appropriate to talk about what I do and don't believe because I feel I have the ability to steer people away from idolatry, but perhaps talk about how to best accomplish charity through service at a local soup kitchen. I have found a wealth of information in the NT talking both about the bad things and good things of Christianity.

When Jesus says that no one can return to the Father but by Me, what He means is that He controls the doorway to heaven. Jesus was not asking for worship. Jesus must approve of you ascending. There is no other way. God sent out His Son to begin this universe and His Son decides who ascends to heaven and who does not.
