My 2022 Clx 700 has been doing the same thing... in 4th gear and it indicates 5th gear and kicks off cruise control. In 6th gear and indicates 1st gear. I also noticed that the idle is inconsistent and the throttle response went to garbage. I watched this video (thank you for posting) and ordered the part right away. While I am currently waiting for the part to come in, I decided to remove the existing sensor and clean the 💩 out if it with **WD-40 CONTACT CLEANER** (Not regular WD-40). I pushed down on the button on the sensor and sprayed all down in there, sprayed both connectors, and in the hole that the sensor came out of. I just got back from a long(ish) ride to test my work. To my surprise, everything functioned as it should and I didn't have a single issue with indicating the wrong gear. My idle seemd to smooth out and the throttle response went back to how I remember it to be. Much smoother overall feel, which makes sense due to the fuel mapping being gear/rev dependent. All of this because you posted this video. Thanks again!

Thanks for the video!! I'm wondering if you could assist me in finding the same replacement part? I'm in Upstate NY and my dealer's supplier has none in stock and no estimated timeline of delivery.
I got my Heritage on Oct 14 2022 and I got home yesterday with the odometer at 6,023.5 miles. I didn't put the bike into Sport Mode or use the Cruise Control until I hit the 1,000 mile mark as I was in no rush to break it in. Since I'm at the bottom of Windham Mountain, with loads of winding twisty roads there was been little need to hit the fast but boring pin-straight NYS Thruway. When I finally did the first few times were in temperatures below 40°f. Then, a few weeks later we had a few days above 50° so I took a 35 mile ride to the nearest Cycle Gear store. About 30 miles into the way home with the Cruise Control set at 80mph the front end of the bike dipped and I lost power as the gauge flashed back and forth between 6th and 1st. My guess is that's what happened to you and the others who have made comments about it.
My dealer call his CFMOTO rep and they knew about the symptom, said if was a faulty Reverse Gear Indicator Sensor, and ordered a replacement. However, unlike you the ordered and replaced the GEAR SENSOR, CFMoto OEM - 0700-063100-30001. That's a brass part with embedded electronics and, not the REVERSE GEAR SENSOR - CFMoto OEM - 0700-065210 that you replaced, which by the way SHOULD HAVE been covered under CFMOTO's 2 year unlimited mileage warranty, as my part was!!
Since I didn't immediately have the means to coordinate a ride home to drop the bike off I decided to wait until the next scheduled and early 6k mile service and it only took 2 days for replacement of the faulty Sensor, full service and a new set of the same Pirelli tires. It took two trips on the Thruway to discover that the part they changed WAS NOT the problem!! Only this time it also sent the bike into Limp Mode with a flashing code while I was in the left lane when it happened. It was pretty scary but I had the composure to hit the hazard lights and signal that I needed to get to the shoulder. Somewhat spooked I didn't think to take a picture of the code. I just shut the bike off, restarted it and it acted like nothing had happened or anything was wrong.
A few days later I hit the Thruway again this time with the intent of getting that Limp Mode Code. Unfortunately the temperature was below 30°f and it didn't happen. Then after almost 3 weeks of cold days I tried again with temperatures in the 50°s. Sure enough after about 25 miles with Cruise set at 80mph it happened. I just pulled onto the shoulder, took out the phone to record the code which was P06069 followed by a smaller 4 which could have been part of it or just the display line number as we can see small digits scrolling through the bottom Odometer menu.
I went back to the dealer to give them the info and a few days later I learned that that Limp Mode Code P06069 4 was completely unknown to CFMOTO and that they are going to replace the ECU to start, which is helping me keep my composure.
They also said the issue with the Reverse Gear Indicator Sensor is apparently a significant problem and they are looking at the possibility of having to re-design the Shift Drum. They're going to keep me posted.
Since I purchased the bike I've been photographing my speedometer and the gas pumps when I fill up to account for mileage and $ spent on fuel. That proved invaluable because during that limp mode incident I was able to discover that the speedometer was off and I'm left wondering if the bike is recording the ACTUAL correct mileage, fuel consumption, average speed, or hours due to the speedometer not being accurate. The Google Maps app and another Speedometer app on my phone showed that the bike's speedometer was 1-4 miles per hour off at speeds up to 55mph and explained why I was never pulled over on the NYS Thruway for going 80mph because I was in fact only going 75mph and was further off the faster I thought I was going. The dealer told me that there no information available about wether the bike records distance from the Speedometer or Odometer, and how it affects fuel average speed and engine hours.
Of course yesterday I hadn't turned the apps on when the stars aligned and I was able to get the speedometer up to 101mph!! That was around 8500rpm with throttle left to go but I ran out of road so I don't how close to 100mph I really was.
At this point I remain ~only~ disappointed because I can still ride the bike, just not on days with temperatures above 40°f, in 6th gear, with the Cruise Control engaged, at speeds above 65mph!!
I would appreciate updates or information from you or ANYONE riding ANY CFMOTO motorcycles regarding the sensor change, the accuracy of your speedometer, or anything else you've encountered!

Hi since you have been riding it for a while, maybe you can answer a question for me. When you first got it, did you have any issues with the fuel sensor? Cause when the fuel gauge hits one bar, I go to fill the tank. And, fills up with less than two gallons. Yet, the bike has a 3.4 gallon tank. Also, the trip mileage only gets the 70s when it gets down to one bar. Or, does it get better the more you ride? I'm still breaking in my bike. Any help to understand my issue would greatly be appreciated

That was another issue I had with the bike before I got rid of it. Mine would randomly lose 2 bars, and they would come back randomly. I heard that changing the sensor on the fuel tank fixed the issue for some individuals. Riding it didn't change anything for me.

I don't understand why your dealer told you it wasn't covered under warranty. How long have you had the bike?
I work for a CF Moto dealer, and I own a CL-X Sport. I talked to a CF Moto Tech in their dealer support dept two or three weeks ago about this and he told me it was covered under warranty.
Now, they have things that are called "consumables" like brake pads, tires, chains, that aren't covered, or only covered for a little while, not the full lenght of the main warranty, like some of the electronics. I wonder if this sensor falls into that category?
So its been almost 3 weeks since you posted this video. The sensor replacement still holding up?
Thanks for the vid and info about this problem.

I've had the bike for about 5 months now and it's only got about 1600 miles on it. I haven't had an issue with it since, but now I noticed that my fuel indication is acting up some. It will drop a bar or two and then go back up, and this is riding straight and level. Have you seen this?

For those who come to this video and have a similar experience, the issue is fixed VERY EASILY. Literally a 5 minute fix. Take the sensor mentioned in this video and remove the washer that is in there. Clean the threads and apply some lock tight approx 3/4 from the bottom and screw it back into the gearbox. Voila!! Problem solved.
The issue comes from the ball at the end of the sensor. As you shift gears and the gears moves to the left, the little ball at the end of the sensor doesn’t get pressed in far enough with the washer which results in the faulty gear indication. Think of it as a false neutral when you don’t shift properly.
